Jennifer Griffin was the first to break this story that the "force protection" level was been increased Thursday night to ForceCom Bravo, which is the the highest the threat level has been since the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks.
The head of the USNORTHCOM ordered the increase in the threat level due to "unspecified terror threats". According to spokespersons for the Department of Defense and Northern Command, it was a "prudent measure."
The increased level means there will be more gaurds at bases across the US and longer lines outside of the bases, since two forms of identification will be required to enter the base.
According to a Tweet sent out by Ms. Griffin, this increase was necessary due to "threats to military personnel," by the terror group ISIS.
TheBlaze reports "The declaration came hours after FBI Director James Comey suggested there could be thousands of online supporters of the Islamic State in the U.S., and days after two gunmen were killed when they opened fire outside a Muhammad cartoon contest in Garland, Texas. The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack, though federal officials have not confirmed the link."
