(Protests outside the "Deploraball"- January 19, 2017)
Updates on news about the protests listed below, will be added throughout the day in this section.
#DisruptJ20, the same group that had announced plans to protest the "Deploraball," believed to be responsible for the violent clashes that led to police having to use pepper-spray on the anti-Trump protesters, plans to protest all day on Friday, with a schedule rally set to begin at 2:00 pm. They also plan to protest at 12 Secret Service security checkpoints.
#J20 Resist is anothe rprotest group that plans to march on the White House at 10:00 am, according to their facebook page.
#InaugurateTheResistance Protest plans a demonstration geared toward protesting war, militarism, racism, anti-immigrant scapegoating, and assaults on workers’ living standards and the environment, according to their website.
Another group called "Its Going Down," which calls themselves "fierce anti-capitalist, anti-fascist," is encouraging protesters to wear all black, stating on their website they "will mobilize to disrupt Trump’s inauguration," They also state "Many different permitted marches, blockades, and other autonomous direct actions are planned. Those who travel to DC hoping to celebrate Trump’s ascendance to power will find the inaugural ceremonies reduced to a total clusterf*ck."
There is also the "movement for black lives" which is a combined movement of Black Lives Matter DC, Baltimore BLOC, and the Movement for Black Lives.
There are others protests plan, a list of them all can be found here, but we focused on those that have the most likelihood of causing trouble or violence.
Note - It seems that amidst all of the events scheduled for today, according to Trump's incoming press secretary Sean Spicer, Trump will be signing a few Executive Orders that have been carefully chosen for his "Day One" actions. It will be interesting to see which priorities he spoke of on the campaign trail he will be addressing first.
