Conservatives and Trump supporters in America are very aware of how the media has painted them all as some sort of racist, homophobic, Islamophobic, (insert all the other labels here) 'Deplorables," and how well they have brainwashed and programmed liberals across the nation into believing that narrative to the point where loony liberals are physically attacking people that wear Maga hats, or other Trump supportive apparrel.
While I have pulled up numerous articles all pushing the same messages, I'll use a BBC artice from February 19th as an example of the narrative the media is trying to program into the minds of their audience.
The French far-right leader, Marine Le Pen, has said she won't join other political parties in a march against anti-Semitism on Tuesday, accusing France's leaders of doing nothing to tackle Islamist networks in France and saying she will mark the occasion separately.
It comes days after a prominent French philosopher, Alain Finkielkraut, was verbally attacked for being Jewish as he walked past the weekly "gilets jaunes" (yellow-vest) protests in Paris.
A small group of protesters shouted a barrage of abuse at him as he passed by the demonstration on his way home from lunch on Saturday, calling him a "dirty Zionist" and telling him to "go back to Tel Aviv".
"I felt an absolute hatred," Mr Finkielkraut told one French newspaper later that night. "If the police hadn't been there, I would have been frightened."
A few days before that, official data suggested there had been a 74% rise in anti-Semitic attacks in France last year.
Notice how they tie in one incident to associate the protests with the rise in anti-Semitic attacks over the course of the last year, while ignoring the fact that the rise in those attacks coincide perfectly with the rise of France's Muslim population, many of which are Islamic extremists that want Israel wiped off the map.
According to France's The Local, "Between mid-2010 and mid-2016, France received more than half a million Muslim migrants." That same report shows that in addition to those half a million Muslim migrants, France also accepted 80,000 refugees.
The BBC report is representative of how other media outlets are framing the narrative, by attempting to connect the rise of anti-Semitic attacks with the Yellow Vest movement, despite the fact that out of tens of thousands of protesters that hit the streets of in France over the course of the last 15 weeks, specific anti-Semitic incidents that have occurred during those weekend protests have been limited to a very small group within the Yellow Vest movement.
Here are just a few examples found on page one of the search results, showing the media pushing the same narrative:
Am I saying their are no anti-Semites in the Yellow Vest movement? Of course not. Anti-Semites can be found on the fringes of both the left and the right. You know, those people that obsess over Israel in every comment, those that will join in a discussion online and never address the topic of the discussion, just pop in with "zionist! comments like drive-by shooters firing bullets into a crowd then roaring off.
We have all seen the examples. A person stubs their toe, the claims it is the "zionists'" fault because the company that poured the concrete on the sidewalk they tripped on, bought supplies from another company that bought their supplies from a company that is run by a Jew... so it is Israel's fault!!!!!!
That doesn't mean there isn't valid criticisms, but those mostly get lost in the "hate" filled rants which make many tend to ignore those that are ranting. You cannot debate with hate, which is why there is rarely a reasoned and rational discussion about those legitimate criticisms.
Does that make the Yellow Vest "movement" itself anti-Semitic? No.
LET'S APPLY THE SAME STANDARD TO OTHER EXAMPLES
By applying the media's standard of using a limited number of incidents to claim that a significant amount of Yellow Vest protesters are anti-Semitic, to other examples, we see how this type of narrative manipulation can go seriously wrong.
For example, Jussie Smollett, a black, gay man, faked a hate crime against himself, to try to tar Trump supporters with the "racist" and "homophobic labels. Does that mean that all black gay men that claim they have suffered some type of hate crime are lying? No, unless you apply the media's standard used to manipulate the narrative.
Researchers have found hundreds of examples of hate crime hoaxes over the years, documented in books on the subject as explained by one author:
That this case turned out to be a hoax shouldn't come as too big of a shock. A great many hate crime stories turn out to be hoaxes. Simply looking at what happened to the most widely reported hate crime stories over the past 4-5 years illustrates this: not only the Smollett case but also the Yasmin Seweid, Air Force Academy, Eastern Michigan, Wisconsin-Parkside, Kean College, Covington Catholic, and “Hopewell Baptist burning” racial scandals all turned out to be fakes. And, these cases are not isolated outliers.
Doing research for a book, Hate Crime Hoax, I was able to easily put together a data set of 409 confirmed hate hoaxes. An overlapping but substantially different list of 348 hoaxes exists at fakehatecrimes.org, and researcher Laird Wilcox put together another list of at least 300 in his still-contemporary book Crying Wolf. To put these numbers in context, a little over 7,000 hate crimes were reported by the FBI in 2017 and perhaps 8-10% of these are widely reported enough to catch the eye of a national researcher.
Does that mean that every person that reports a hate crime is a hoaxer? No, unless we apply the media standard.
A Hispanic woman attacked a man for wearing a MAGA hat recently. Does that mean all Hispanics are violent? No, unless we apply the media standard.
Over the past few years the liberal media complex, including some of the biggest names, like CNN, Washington Post, New York Ties, ABC News, have all been busted for outright fake news. Does that mean all reporters are liars? No, just look at the local reporting from Chicago on the Jussie Smollett story, where they reported only the facts, highlighted the inconsistencies, even as the mainstream media had already declared Smollett was a victim of a racist, homophobic attack by Trump supporters, and those local reporters are the only ones without egg on their face, because they were the consummate professionals.
But, if we apply the media standard of narrative manipulation, then every single reporter and journalist are liars, fake news pushers, and hate mongers.
I could go on all day, but I think readers get the point. A horrible handful of people within any group does not, and should not, tarnish the group as a whole.
WHY IS THE MEDIA TRYING TO TARNISH THE YELLOW VEST PROTESTERS?
Easy answer here is "to protect the globalists."
The longer answer is the Yellow Vest movement has shown itself to be persistent, they didn't just march once and quit, they have been protesting in multiple cities throughout France for 15 straight weekends in a row. Their message against globalism has spread, so other countries have now started seeing Yellow Vest protests sporadically. Each example might have different complaints, but the "Yellow Vests" have become a symbol against globalism, and the media has finally found a narrative they can collude on in order to tamper down the support the protesters have seen from significant portions of the populace.
This is the media's modus operandi, pick a target, converge on a narrative, then carefully fit the "news" into the larger umbrella of that narrative, in order to put a stamp on a large swathe of people to destroy them in the eyes of the public, so they can continue to push their globalist agenda.
We have seen it in the attacks against President Trump from the day he announced his candidacy, where media outlets decided to label him as racist because he noted that many illegal aliens are criminals, including rapists, while noting that some are "good people," yet the media ran only with the headline of "Trump calls Mexians rapists."
The media has pushed that narrative so hard that now liberals claim just wearing a "Make American Great Again" hat, is also racist because that represents a Trump supporter.
The media has pushed the victimhood status on people like Smollett by widely reporting how he was "attacked," for two weeks straight, until the police finally arrested him for faking the attack, all because Smollett claimed he was attacked by Trump supporters.
The media tried to destroy a group of Catholic students, resulting in death threats and other threats of violence against those students, all because the media was triggered by the students wearing MAGA hats, because they have bought in to their own fake narrative about a "hat" representing racism.
We already know that JournOList 2.0 exists, where over 400 media wonks chatter by listserv to collude on stories, and narratives, so that they can all, at once, push a specific topic with the same 'spin," to manipulate the masses into believing whatever the MSM wants them to believe, even after that narrative is debunked because they give far less coverage to the truth once exposed, than they did their original lies.
The Yellow Vest protesters are now receiving the "Deplorable" treatment by the media because the MSM cannot stand the fact that populism/nationalism is growing and anti-globalist sentiment is increasing every day.
