4chan- They have been called Internet "Trolls" after their antics in hunting down the anti-Trump activist Shia Labeouf using methods that would rival the best intelligence communities in the world. They have been accused of doxing an "innocent" college professor, although today we find out the Berkeley professor they were accused of unfairly targeting, has indeed been arrested and held on a $200,000 bond.
Many are self proclaimed neo-Nazi's and proud of it and their crowd-sourcing investigations are so chaotic it is hard to even follow along.
The thing is, these folks at 4chan, who have been described as "keyboard-hunching virgins who have morphed into despicable monsters.........collectively stoking racism and harassing women online as sport," are scary smart, determined, and they have now set their sites on another mystery..... who killed Seth Rich?
BERKELEY PROFESSOR ARRESTED.... OH, AND HE WAS THE PERSON 4CHAN "TARGETED"
We'll start with the most recent news report from EastBay Times, where the police arrested a Berkeley college professor, Eric Clanton, 28,, on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, charging him with "suspicion of use of a firearm during a felony with an enhancement clause and assault with a non-firearm deadly weapon. Canton is was being held on $200,000 bail after he was booked into Berkeley City Jail.
A former Diablo Valley College staff directory Web page said Clanton, who earned a bachelor’s degree at California State University, Bakersfield, and a master’s degree at San Francisco State in philosophy, worked at the school since 2015, teaching an “introduction to philosophy with a background in teaching ethics, critical thinking, and comparative philosophy East/West” with “primary research interests” of ethics and politics.
Employee records for 2015 and 2016 listed Clanton as a lecturer with the California State University system and a philosophy instructor with the Contra Costa Community College District, according to Transparent California.
Nothing in the EastBay Times story details the fact that Clanton's name had been already highlighted by the members of 4chan back in April after Berkeley Antifa thugs scheduled a protest against a Patriot Rally held in Berkeley, which turned into chaos, with 11 injured and 20 people arrested. One of those injuries caused by a masked Antifa thug was captured on camera, where the Antifa member took a U-lock to his head.
Berkeleyside on the other hand, details more about the arrest, reporting "Eric Clanton, a former teacher at Diablo Valley College, was arrested by Berkeley police on Wednesday on suspicion of three counts of assault with a deadly weapon identified as a U-lock bike lock, and one of those assaults is alleged to have caused a significant injury."
Berkeleyside also refers to Clanton being "outed online" by 4Chan, and they say "Police said they have identified three victims in the case. All three were struck in the head or neck with a bike lock, police said."
You will see the man who used the U-lock to hit someone in the head, come into the screen at about the 15 second mark, wearing a black hoodie, sunglasses and a black face mask, circled in the image above, right before he swings the u-lock hitting a man in the head before melting back into the crowd.
One would think it would be almost impossible to identify one of many wearing masks, so the attacker wasn't one of the twenty arrested on that day.
Enter 4chan, where the crowd-sourcing investigation began and by April 20th, the group of internet sleuths claimed they had uncovered the identity of the Antifa thug with the U-lock, naming him as Diablo Valley College professor Eric Clanton... yes, the same man that was just arrested on Wednesday, but the "proof" 4chan provided back in April, was as chaotic a process as their website is to follow along with.
They used images of known photos of the Clanton with images of the masked Antifa thug, and "analyzed" the two and declared Clanton was the perpetrator.
Once Clanton's name was out there, others, including 4Chan, started highlighting public statements from Clanton, such as "I spend a lot of time thinking about REVOLUTION," as well as highlighting his far-left political philosophy and activism. After 4chan then published Clanton's personal information like his address, his job locations, with some media sites saying 4chan was "harassing" him, Clanton started deleting his social media accounts, going totally dark.
According to an Inquistr report on April 21, 2017, Clanton had reportedly gone into hiding and hired an attorney, with that report casting doubt on whether Clanton was the perpetrator.
Before going after the radical professor, 4chan had basically declared war on anti-Trump protester Shia Lebeouf, who had started a 4 year long protest after President Trump was inaugurated, with an "art" project he called "He Will Not Divide Us," where he set up a live camera in Queens, New York’s Museum of the Moving Image, stating it would stay active for four years.
Enter 4chan in what became amusing online entertainment, watching them "troll" Lebeouf, resulting in LeBeouf moving locations after he was arrested, then moving his protest project to Albuquerque, where it too was shut down. Finally LeBeouf changed his live stream protest where people chanted "He Will Not Divide Us," to a live stream of a white flag with the words "He Will Not Divide Us," in an undisclosed location.
Well, the "undisclosed location" was just too attractive a challenge for the 4chan group to resist, and they made it a mission to "capture the flag." First they determined the general location using the the stars in the night sky, then they compared FAA flight paths to contrails that were visible on LeBeouf's live stream. Then a 4chan user in the area drove around honking his horn in that location until other 4chan users heard it.
They captured the flag and replaced it with an image of Pepe the Frog, wearing a Make America Great Again hat.
The saga didn't end there as Shia and a couple other people "holed up in three separate cabins in the laplands, an arctic region in northern Finland. Their faces are livestreamed into the Kiasma museum in Helsinki, where museum-goers can communicate with the trio."
When the Seth Rich murder became headlined news again last week, after a private investigator linked the DNC staffer with Wikileaks, and the MSM went nuts trying to kill the story, it exploded on the Internet, and rather than rehashing the details, we refer you to the following three ANP articles to catch up, because the point here is that 4chan has decided to turn their crowd-sourcing internet sleuthing into solving the July 2016 murder of Rich.
4chan has multiple threads on Seth Rich, and while some of their anonymous postings once again offer a chaotic stream of information that cannot always be confirmed, they have somehow managed to make connections we haven't heard of anywhere else, such as connecting the Democratic "crisis consultant," Brad Bauman, that is now the spokesman for the Rich family, although no one actually knows who is paying him, with known Democratic activist David Brock who founded the liberal media attack site Media Matters and is a known Hillary Clinton ally, who supposedly "built an empire to put Hillary in the White House," according to The Nation.
According to the Daily Dot, one of the pieces of information being touted by 4chan as a "breakthrough" is that they have "identified that Joseph Capone, the owner of the Lou’s City Bar where Rich had been drinking before his death, had been at the White House in the days before the killing," and posted pictures to his Facebook account.
On a side note: We have also seen a lot of Internet chatter about an anonymous poster at 4chan, claiming to be a surgery resident at the hospital Seth Rich was brought to before he died. The hospital employee describes very mysterious circumstances and events happening before Rich was pronounced dead. ANP has not covered this aspect, although the claim can be found here, because we cannot confirm anything the anonymous poster claimed, nor that he/she is who they say they are. IF that employee wishes to contact ANP and offer us a chance to verify and confirm they do at least work for that hospital in the position they claim, we will keep his/her name confidential as well as any identifying information.
After unmasking an Antifa Berkeley professor, and possibly even being the impetus that led to his arrest, and the sheer entertainment factor alone of the whole public Internet war between 4chan and LeBeouf, we find ourselves in a unique position of being appalled at some of 4chan's members that are self-proclaimed neo-Nazis, as well as some of the vitriol found within their threads, while at the same time being amazed at their crowd-sourcing investigative abilities and the results of their determination.
If that determination leads to closure in the Seth Rich murder, or at least enough attention that the the "conspiracy theories" are confirmed or debunked, they will have done all of us looking for the truth, a huge favor.
