Brief Background: From the day President Trump rode down the escalator and announced he was running for President, the media has lied, misrepresented his statements, selectively edited his comments in video clips, and generally set themselves up as direct opposition to a Trump presidency.
This was acknowledged back in December 2015 by the liberal progressive website Salon, as a Puerto Rican professor took the media to task for lying about the then-candidate Trump's announcement and his comments about Mexicans. Professor Martinez highlighted outlets such as NYT, TIME magazine, Associated press, CBS News, L.A. Times, Fortune, Hollywood Reporter, Huffington Post, Washington Post and Politico, all misrepresenting, and lying to their audiences, from day one.
By the end of that detailed and sourced article, by a professor that admits he was not only a Bernie Sanders supporter, but had also voted for Barack Obama, he concluded "Most unauthorized immigrants are good people. But still, the media wrongly blamed Mr. Trump for their own misrepresentations."
That pattern continued throughout the primaries, and the general election, and continues today. The liberal establishment media lies to their viewers, raises their hopes, then when those hopes are dashed, more and more liberals get angrier and angrier.... but not at the media that continues to lie to them.
Remember, the day of the 2016 presidential election the media was telling their audience that Donald Trump had no chance of winning, and that continued right up until Trump hit the magic delegate number of 270.
After the election NBC's Chuck Todd admitted, publicly, that journalists lied to their audience throughout the whole election cycle by not reporting, or downplaying how much Hillary Clinton was "hated" in the heartland.
“If we sort of were straight-up honest and blunt about hey do we understand the level of hatred that’s out there and you know, all the Hillary for Prison signs that are out there, we certainly would have at least made the viewer know, hey, you know, she’s not well-liked in some places in this country in ways that’s times 10 when it comes to Trump,” he said.
Later in the interview Todd continued:
“What do I think we did wrong in this election? The biggest thing is we didn’t tell the stories of all Americans,” Mr. Todd said. “We told the stories of coastal Americans. And ultimately, that’s like the larger trust issue.”
“We were more likely to do a story about the Dreamer that might get deported with new policies than we were about the 19-year-old opioid addict who feels hopeless in Rolla, Missouri. And, I’m not, I don’t pick on Rolla, Missouri, it’s, my point is that we just, we did not equally tell those stories very well, right, and, we were not, that is an out-of-touch issue.”
They lied. They deliberately chose to downplay stories and attitudes, while they continued to pump up their followers to expect a Hillary Clinton win in November 2016.
WHERE IS THE LIBERAL OUTRAGE AT THE MEDIA?
Democrats, liberals and the media, all collectively melted down after the election results were announced, some media pundits humiliatingly did so on-air.
They were blindsided because for nearly two years the media had lied to them, but liberals were not outraged at the liberal establishment media, they instead started attacking Trump supporters, the "deplorables," and President Trump himself. In fact they blamed everyone but the media.
Again, the pattern has been repeated for a solid 19 months, as Washington Post manages to capture in the short video below from over this past weekend, titled "Pundits keep (wrongly) predicting the end of Trump's presidency." The description states "Nineteen months in, pundits are (still) predicting the next crazy event will be a 'turning point' in Trump's presidency."
When we reported in late July that mental health experts confirmed that Trump Derangement Syndrome, which they label "Trump Anxiety Disorder," was real, we made note of the fact that the experts that were cited, spoke of the "intense consumption of media coverage of this presidency is making some people's Trump-related anxiety worse."
The liberal media and their constant dire, end of the world, Armageddon-like Trump headlines, along with the long list of actual fake news articles, is quite literally driving people crazy.
Between the dire headlines, and the roller coaster of emotions as the media predicts the end of President Trump's presidency, time after time, just to see it fail to happen, we are noting a massive increase in anger, nastiness, as well as liberals repeating the initial "fake news" stories, without acknowledging or even knowing those stories have been debunked, retracted, have editors notes explaining the story wasn't entirely true or was "unintentionally" misleading.
Not only are liberal not outraged when the media is caught directly lying to them, the mental gymnastics they play to avoid admitting they are being lied to by the media, is painful to watch.
CNN responded to President Trump by saying "Make no mistake, Mr. President, CNN does not lie. We report the news. And we report when people in power tell lies. CNN stands by our reporting and our reporters. There may be many fools in this story but @carlbernstein is not one of them."
Completely ignoring that I highlighted not Lanny Davis' lies, but the one where CNN, in their article, claimed they contacted Davis and he "declined to comment," which we now know was a direct lie by CNN to their audience, liberals started trying to protect CNN, the very people that lied to them in the first place.
One said to me "How can CNN be held accountable when someone they interview is not truthful? It is the interviewee that is responsible for what they say while on the air at CNN."
Notice not one mention of the CNN claim about Davis declining to comment. Another completely ignored the conversation altogether to attack President Trump, saying "Oh Susan. Give me a freakin break. You are LIED TO EVERY SINGLE DAY from trump !!!!!!!!!! But yet everyone else is the liar."
Highlighting to that person that the thread was about CNN, and I don't get my news from the President, but it is about a "news" organization deliberately lying to their audience, and their claim about Davis refusing to comment, when in fact he was a source, that person then couldn't acknowledge CNN's direct lie, so she responded with "Susan likes being lied to by the p*ssy grabber."
Experiment Ended: This is why I rarely interact with liberals suffering Trump Derangement Syndrome.
Completely unable to admit CNN lied, liberals will twist themselves into pretzels to avoid the actual discussion, divert from the thread issue, and then when that doesn't work, just attack.
BOTTOM LINE QUESTION: WHY DO DEMOCRATS DEFEND THE LIBERAL MEDIA?
With public trust in the media at an all-time low, and with the younger generation having negative opinions about the press, we note another pattern by the media, and the liberal audience that follows them..... they continually blame president Trump for the distrust in the media, rather than the media for publishing an unprecedented number of articles over the last two years that have been retracted, corrected, changed or deleted, yet as we have shown here at ANP previously , trust in the media has been dwindling since the late 1970s.
President Trump did not do that, the liberal media has eroded public trust in themselves to the point where 72 percent of Americans believe "traditional major news sources report news they know to be fake, false, or purposely misleading."
The poll of nearly 4,000 adults shows that 92 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents "say that traditional news outlets knowingly report false or misleading stories at least sometimes," a finding in line with other recent polls conducted by Pew Research and Gallup.
It found the sentiment extends to those who identify as independents and Democrats, with 79 percent of independents also saying traditional outlets knowingly report false or misleading stories at least sometimes. Democrats agree by a slight majority of 53 percent.
They would rather lie to their audience and tell them the erosion of trust in the MSM is because of president Trump, rather than admit their own actions, lies, fake news stories, inaccurate reporting and liberal bias, has destroyed their reputation to the point where only the rabid, anti-Trump liberals and NeverTrumpers, still pay any attention to them, or even believe what they "report.
President Trump's crime, to them, is he calls them out on it and it resonates with those that already see them as the "opposition" party, or even in some cases, as with CNN, the enemy of the people.
So the answer to the category question of why do liberals defend the media, sadly, it is because they tell them what they want to hear, even when it is completely bogus. Then when it turns out to be completely false, those same liberals get more and more outraged, at everyone but the media that lied to them.
A vicious cycle.
