As Disney Pushes An LGBT Agenda & Liberal Politics, Their Downward Spiral In Ratings Reflect It - Turn The Channel: In A Free Market Society, The People Decide

By Susan Duclos - All News Pipeline

The last we spoke of Jimmy Kimmel, his crass remarks and attempt to push misinformation about the ideology of the Charlie Kirk assassin, subsequent suspension and return to Disney's ABC News programming, it was in relation to how the left was attempting to claim his "free speech" was being attacked and comparing it to the assassination of conservative TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk.

I am not going to rehash any of that here, those that wish to see that piece can at this link here.

In this piece I would like to address the blowback against Disney for caving to their liberal base, along with a note on them allowing Kimmel back.

The next statement may not be popular, especially considering I am conservative and ANP has a general conservative base, but I'll explain later in the piece.

While I Disney has alienated nearly half the population over the years by pushing an LGBT agenda into children's programming and movies, the fact remains they have the right to air what they want, barring any content that goes against the law.

We live in a free market society.

From Investopedia, a description of Free Market:

What Is a Free Market?

The free market is an economic system based on supply and demand with little or no government control. One of the central principles of a free market is the concept of voluntary exchange, which is defined as any transaction in which two parties freely trade goods or services.

Emphasis mine.

Voluntary exchange. That is the crux of my point.

While Disney has the right to create whatever content they choose, or return a night time host to his show despite his blatant attempt to push misinformation to his audience in the guise of a "joke," consumers also have the right to refuse to watch said show, or Disney itself.

In fact, over the past five years, since Disney has because trying to indoctrinate children into the LGBT agenda, mostly conservative parents have refused to allow their children to watch, which is shown in their stock prices from the last five years.

The "punishment" is coming from the free market, the people that used to let their children watch Disney, now have multiple broadcasters and programming to choose from, and have chosen to use another service.
If Disney ignores that, then their stocks go down, their investors receive smaller returns. Disney's top five investors are The Vanguard Group, BlackRock, Inc., State Street Corp., Morgan Stanley, and Geode Capital Management.

Browsing through reports and press releases, we see that Sinclair Broadcasting and Nexstar, who both preempted Jimmy Kimmel Live, and continued that preemption for his return show, have both put him back on their channels.

Nexstar statement hereSinclair Statement here.

Some conservatives were angered that those two conservative based broadcasters "caved" and brought started airing Jimmy Kimmel Live again, but it is hard to imagine that conservatives that watch Nexstar and Sinclair broadcasting stations, ever watch Kimmel's show. Many likely have never once watched him.

Nexstar has 200 different stations, and Sinclair has 178 stations.

Unlike others, such as MSNBC (soon to be MSNOW), as just an example, both Sinclair and Nexstar understand the "free market" system and that a successful business does not deliberately alienate half the nation. They attempt to offer something for everybody.

Also, while again it might not be popular to offer up this tidbit, both have contractual obligations, as we can see referenced in the Sinclair press release about the return of Kimmel to their networks.

Our objective throughout this process has been to ensure that programming remains accurate and engaging for the widest possible audience. We take seriously our responsibility as local broadcasters to provide programming that serves the interests of our communities, while also honoring our obligations to air national network programming.

In Sinclair's case, they have a contractual obligation to air ABC programming until 2026, as the following portion of a press release from 2022 states shows.

Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: SBGI) and Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution (NYSE: DIS) today announced a multi-year deal that renews ABC affiliations across all Sinclair stations into 2026. Additionally, Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution also agreed to renew affiliations with three ABC affiliated stations to which Sinclair provides sales and other services under joint sales agreements: WHAM in Rochester, NY and WGTU and WGTQ in Traverse City, MI.

Sinclair can then renegotiate their contract, and exclude Kimmel if they so choose, but (again, unpopular opinion), they shouldn't.

The power should be left to the people. The audience should decide what they want to watch or not watch.

MSNBC mainly appeals to liberals. Fox mainly to conservatives. We need broadcasting groups that understand and use the free market properly. Bring us back to the basics.

If a liberal is watching a Sinclair Broadcasting, or Nexstar, because they like jimmy Kimmel Live, most won't even know it is a Sinclair station, and Sinclair then receives revenue from said liberal.

From a free market perspective, it is a win/win for Sinclair, while other broadcasters, that only try to appeal to half the country, lost out on revenue from the other half of the country.

GRASSROOTS BOYCOTTS ARE AFFECTIVE.....

Make no mistake, I am not suggesting anyone boycott Sinclair or Nexstar here. Even Kimmel, because frankly that would be silly since most reading this would likely never watch Kimmel, and many have stated they have never even seen one of his shows.

This category is being addressed because of entire articles published on liberal websites, such as the following on Distractify

• Boycotting Sinclair for Not Airing Jimmy Kimmel Is Trickier Than Boycotting Disney

The articles then proceeds how to teach people how to boycott Sinclair Broadcasting. That is not a grassroots boycott, it is an attempt to organize a boycott, which rarely works in a free market society.

A grassroots boycott is when is when consumers decide on their own, collectively, because it is usually based on something that offends a particular portion of the population, to simply "never buy there again." Or never watch that again, or whatever the situation.

An organized boycott usually only works until they try to organize another.

Let's use Disney as an example here, and as the chart up above shows their declining stocks.

That came from conservative and/or religious parents discovering, whether by watching something their child was on Disney, or when conservative websites started highlighting their LGBT push on the nation's children. Even liberal websites started gloating and listing LGBT themed Disney show, movies, and characters.

That made parents aware of what their children were being shown on Disney, and many simply turned the channel. Found a variety of other programming they felt were more appropriate for their children to be watching.

Below is a screenshot of Disney Channel's ratings from March 2022 to September 2025.

That ladies and gentlemen is a true grassroots boycott and their continued downward spiral of ratings reflect that.
Kimmel's return saw ratings spike on his return show on Tuesday, but by Thursday, his ratings once again fell off the cliff, via New York Post:
On Thursday, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” averaged 2.3 million total viewers — a staggering 64% drop from the 6.5 million who tuned in for Tuesday’s much-hyped return

Kimmel shed even more viewers in the advertiser-coveted demographic of adults aged 25-54, with Thursday’s episode hemorrhaging 73% of viewers from the critical category.

“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” pulled in 1.7 million viewers among the key demo for Tuesday’s return but plummeted to 465,000 only 48 hours later.

Jimmy Kimmel Live is a problem that will solve itself in regards to Disney, and frankly he is the least of their worries.

Especially once a Disney Executive Producer admitted to a ‘gay agenda,’ and to ‘adding queerness’ wherever she could.

Other than Gutfeld, late night comedy shows have been bleeding money and ratings. Stephen Colbert was cancelled by CBS because it was losing money after production costs and Colbert's salary.

A piece in the left-leaning Forbes (archive.is link since it is behind a paywall), written in July before Kirk's assassination and Kimmel's subsequent push to intimate that the assassin was "MAGA."

The fate of late night TV may now be with Jimmy Kimmel Live. Host Jimmy Kimmel’s contract with Disney is set to end in 2026, and its renewal or lapse will say something about the genre more generally.
CBS recently canceled The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. While the news came after Colbert criticised his parent company and Donald Trump, CBS maintains that it was “purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night." The CBS show is among the most popular late night programs. However, it was revealed that it costs over $100 million annually to produce while losing over $40 million per year. According to someone familiar with the show, the budget includes a live band, a 200-person staff and Colbert’s annual $20 million salary.

More from that piece shows Kimmel's show rated lower than Colbert's.

In Q2 of 2025The Late Show saw 2.42 million in viewership, while Jimmy Kimmel Live saw 1.77 million. The ABC late-night show may well have a lower budget; both the show’s budget and Kimmel’s salary have not been published. However, canceling a more popular show the year before salary negotiations with Kimmel may leave late night in a precarious spot. Late night has been declining in viewership for years, and it is unclear if Colbert’s cancellation will be a one-off or a fundamental shift in late-night TV.

BOTTOM LINE.....

The bottom line here is that Disney, due to their own decisions, have seen their TV channel ratings go down, along with their movie ticket sales, and their LGBT push to indoctrinate children.

Jimmy Kimmel is the least of their problems.
