Yesterday a man named Chase Reed, a columnist for The Daily Northwestern, wrote an article titled "Reclaiming the term ‘social justice warrior’ during Trump regime," where he complains that "The terms 'social justice warrior' and 'snowflake' re-entered the status quo in full force," being used in a manner to deligitimatize "individuals who fight to maintain civil liberties across the country," and that "the phrase 'social justice warrior' connotes strength, conviction and a belief in universal liberty" but that "term has been twisted and distorted to describe angry liberals keen to force their 'politically correct' values down the throats of anyone who dares disagree with them."
As I read his assertions, I had to wonder if he has been watching his beloved "social justice warriors" over the last few years, seen the headlines, witnessed their antics at college campuses around the country where they are hiding in their "safe spaces" to avoid any and all discussion they cannot face, calling any speech they do not like a "micro-aggression," demanding that free speech be restricted if they disagree with it, protesting any speakers that they don't like.
Has this man been living under a rock?
I was disheartened to see that the only substantive discussion of SJWs within the past several years at The Daily took this inaccurate depiction and ran with it. In 2015, guest columnist Sam Houskeeper defined SJWs as 'a loose collection of self-proclaimed progressive students whose dedication to equality is admirable…(but whose) methods of eliminating prejudice have created a culture where any kind of dissenters are shamed and cowed into silence.' Houskeeper displayed an alarming lack of awareness regarding the desires and motivations of students who are drawn to activism. He fell into the trap of generalizing their intentions by adhering closely to a corrupted interpretation of the phrase.
He blames Housekeeper for falling into a trap, yes Reed himself does not acknowledge that the term "social justice warrior" has not been corrupted by writers, but by those claiming to be social justice warriors themselves. Their actions are why the term "snowflake" and "social justice warrior" carries the connotations they do in the present day. Their refusal to face reality head on, their constant need to play the victim card and to become violent every time they do not get their own way. Their attempts to shut down any and all debate if it doesn't fit their particular ideology.
He then makes a claim that about had me falling out of my chair when he writes "SJWs do not intend to 'cow' others into silence nor down out the other side, but they do aim to promote dialogue and direct action that works toward rectifying social inequalities."
Frankly, after having written extensively on social justice warrior snowflakes over the past couple of years, I could list hundreds of examples showing that Mr. Reed is wrong, that SJWs are trying to "cow" people into silence if said speech not promoting their preferred speech, but rather than offer examples from the past years, perhaps we should just show Mr. Reed, who offers his contact information to email him at email@example.com, exactly what his beloved social justice warriors are "promoting," and it sure isn't "dialogue."
Below we see a woman, and I do use that term loosely, at an anti-Trump protest in Seattle this past weekend, wearing a Black Lives Matter jacket, claiming to promoting "social change," as she goes off in a profanity laden rant stating "we need to start killing people. First off, we need to start killing the White House. The White House must die. The White House, your f**king White House, your f**ing Presidents, they must go! F**k the White House."
As the Daily Caller reports, she also says "White people, give your f**king money, your f**king house, your f**king property, we need it f**king all," as another protester responds "reparations!"
ANP apologizes in advance for the severity of the profanity in the video below, but the only way to understand what these 'social justice warriors" and these Black Lives Matter activists have become, is to see them, hear them, understand them...... something Mr. Reed obviously hasn't bothered to do.
If I could offer Mr. Reed some advice, "You don't want to reclaim the term social justice warrior, it has now been tainted by violent, unreasonable, illogical, 'safe space' snowflakes, that need prozac dipped binkies and large size diapers, and in some cases, a jail cell."
Before watching the video below, which again we are offering a SEVERE LANGUAGE WARNING on, remember that the candidates for the Democratic National Committee chair, made a point of offering their "support" to Black Lives Matter, with one even stating that her role as a white person is to "shut other white people down."
She goes on to say "My job is to make sure that they get that they have privilege and until we shut our mouths and we listen to those people who don’t and we lift our people up so that we all have equity in this country … we’re not going to break through this."
That is not "promoting dialogue", that stifling one voice in favor of another.
It is time to understand that so-called social justice warriors," are no longer anything resembling what they may have started as, and are now nothing more than vicious, violent thugs.
Below is the face and the voice of the enemy ladies and gentlemen, see it, hear it and be prepared to defend against them.
