Cancel Culture Goes Off The Rails As New Intimidation Campaign By Democrats And Led By Liberal MSM, Begins - They Want To Censor All Conservative Media

By Susan Duclos - All News PipeLine

Before detailing the new attempts to cancel conservative media, led by CNN pundits and defended by other liberal MSM outfits, a quick reminder about "reducing information pollution," which CNN's Brian Stelter, calls a "harm reduction model," and why CNN and all other news outlets that pushed the Russian collusion Hoax against the American public, should be first in line for cancellation.

CNN'S BUNGLED REPORTING

Throughout the past few years we have documented the outright fake, incorrect news, selectively edited "quotes" by the MSM, but no outlet provided as many examples as CNN.

By 2018, from the start of the Trump candidacy for president, CNN had bungled no less than 20 different stories, resulting in stealth edits, retractions, changed headlines and total deletions, and in one case, three of their "journalists" were forced to resign because the fake news reporting was so egregious.

Things got even worse after that.

Because this is about the new campaign against all major conservative news media, we won't detail with each and every past mistake from CNN and others, but there are lists already published such as this one from Daily Caller, from 2018.

The point here, is that CNN has been the most guilty, out of all the MSM, of pushing what Stelter calls "information pollution," into the homes of Americans.

MSM'S CAMPAIGN AGAINST CONSERVATIVE MEDIA

Late January from Bloomberg News, we see how the campaign began:

But the drumbeat for cable companies to act has grown louder. Oliver Darcy, a media reporter at Fox News rival CNN, said after the riot that “it is time TV carriers face questions for lending their platforms to dishonest companies that profit off of disinformation and conspiracy theories.”

New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof said that “cable providers should be asked why they distribute channels that peddle lies.” And Washington Post columnist and CNN analyst Max Boot wrote that cable providers should “step in and kick Fox News off.” If Newsmax and rival One America News Network “continue to incite viewers, they, too, should be booted off,” he added.

CNN, NYT, and Washington Post, three of the biggest outlets that pushed the Russian collusion hoax for years until the special council investigation ended and in the Mueller report they found that there was no collusion, then the media moved on to the next line of attack, without every apologizing to their readers for misleading them for years.

Yet they are promoting the cancellation of news that "peddle lies," without seeing the extreme irony that should news providers be cancelled of "lies, all three of the aforementioned outlets would be first in line to be canceled.

In early February it was reported that CNN's Brian Stelter, was still pushing the idea:

Via The Blaze:

CNN's Brian Stelter said Fox News' influence must be reduced. But fear not. The fast-talking host of "Reliable Sources" said during his Sunday broadcast that it's not censorship he's talking about.

"Reducing a liar's reach is not the same as censoring freedom of speech," he said. "Freedom of speech is different than freedom of reach — and algorithmic reach is part of the problem."

Stelter's monologue was all about "reducing information pollution" — and he said it can be accomplished through a 'harm reduction model."

Get that? It isn't about censorship, it is just about silencing those that CNN disagrees with. Sheesh, lets phrase it right everyone, otherwise Stelter might start scolding you!

Kudos to some, very few, other journalists that pushed back against Stelter... hard.

Journalist Glenn Greenwald seems to think so, ripping Stelter on Twitter: "Beyond all the creepy aspects of *journalists* again taking the lead in demanding media voices be repressed, @brianstelter's claim that 'freedom of speech is different than freedom of reach' is totally false and has been rejected by courts for decades."

Greenwald added, "Also, CNN lies and spreads conspiracy theories constantly. They're a pro-Democratic Party outlet that barely airs any dissent from the DNC line. If @brianstelter's standards for banishing Fox were applied equally, it'd affect all cable news outlets, not just one."

Bingo!

DEMOCRATS TRY TO BULLY CABLE PROVIDERS

Right on cue, as liberal media outlets are pushing the campaign to convince readers that only liberal news is worthy to be reported to Americans, Democrats in congress sent out letters to 12 cable providers in an attempt to bully them into dropping Fox News, OAN, and Newsmax from their options.

The 3 page letters went to all 12 providers, including: AT&T, Verizon Communications, Roku, Inc, Amazon.com, Inc, Apple Inc., Comcast Corporation, Charter Communications, Inc, Dish Network, Cox Communications , Inc, Altice USA, Alphabet Inc., and Hulu, LLC.

The first pages is a slew of Democrat talking points before demanding answers to a number of questions on Page 2. (Note - The example below is from the AT&T letter, which is basically the same as all of them except the name of the company is changed in each subsequent letter:

1. What moral or ethical principles (including those related to journalistic integrity, violence, medical information, and public health) do you apply in deciding which channels to carry or when to take adverse actions against a channel?

2. Do you require, through contracts or otherwise, that the channels you carry abide by any content guidelines? If so, please provide a copy of the guidelines.

3. How many of your subscribers tuned in to Fox News, Newsmax, and OANN on U-verse, DirecTV, and AT&T TV for each of the four weeks preceding the November 3, 2020 elections and the January 6, 2021 attacks on the Capitol? Please specify the number of subscribers that tuned in to each channel.

4. What steps did you take prior to, on, and following the November 3, 2020 elections and the January 6, 2021 attacks to monitor, respond to, and reduce the spread of disinformation, including encouragement or incitement of violence by channels your company disseminates to millions of Americans? Please describe each step that you took and when it was taken.

5. Have you taken any adverse actions against a channel, including Fox News, Newsmax, and OANN, for using your platform to disseminate disinformation related directly or indirectly to the November 3, 2020 elections, the January 6, 2021 Capitol insurrection, or COVID-19 misinformation? If yes, please describe each action, when it was taken, and the parties involved.

6. Have you ever taken any actions against a channel for using your platform to disseminate any disinformation? If yes, please describe each action and when it was taken.

7. Are you planning to continue carrying Fox News, Newsmax, and OANN on U-verse, DirecTV, and AT&T TV both now and beyond any contract renewal date? If so, why?

A clear act of intimidation by the Democrat lawmakers, but the timing is indicative of collusion between Democrats and the media, with both pimping the need to "cancel" any information not approved by Democrats and their liberal media minions.

Washington Times get to the heart of the issue:

The same people who spent four years claiming to be worried about authoritarian rule are absolutely committed to using their newfound power to silence dissenting voices. I dare you: Name something — anything — former President Trump did that more seriously endangers freedom of press than this.

Yet, the mainstream media and Silicon Valley are in agreement — cheering on this authoritarian rule.

Alex Stamos, the former chief security officer for Facebook, suggested on CNN that AT&T, Comcast and other cable providers should rethink their carriage of right-wing outlets like Fox News and Newsmax because of the “disinformation” being spewed by them. The Washington Post’s Margaret Sullivan echoed similar thoughts.

The Post’s Eugene Robinson and journalist Katie Couric have both openly questioned how one can “deprogram” Trump supporters.

We said when big tech and social media deplatformed and censored Alex Jones, that people needed to stand up and speak out because they would go further.

When they deplatformed President Trump, while he was still in office, we and others said the same... make noise, a lot of it, because it could be us next.

Now it is larger conservative media outlets they are targeting and again we warn: They will come for Independent Media next if they managed to bully and browbeat big tech into silencing conservative media voices.

BOTTOM LINE

The bottom line is they they want to silence conservatives and are making no bones about it, and then, make no mistake, they want to criminalize conservative speech in the public square.

As it stands, questions over an election in 2016, were treated as natural, but questions about 2020, are "incitement" according to the liberal media and Democrats.

Cable providers cannot be allowed to cave to these liberal speech/thought police.
