Congress Says Tariffs Could Reduce Deficit, White House Souvenir Shop Opens People's House Exhibit In Temp Location, Chicago Is Next For DC Style Clean-Up, Patriot Benjamin Rush, And More

On August 22, 2025, the White House published the article ICYMI: Tariffs Will Reduce Deficit by $4 Trillion in which they state a recent Congressional Budget Office analysis to be published September 12, 2025, has been updated to include the new tariff income ordered by President Trump. IF things continue in this manner, our $37,000,000,000,0000 deficit COULD be reduced by $4,000,000,000,000 over 10 years. However, we know that how tariffs are right now is from a series of changes starting in February, 2025 (discussed in a variety of ANP Articles such as April 30, 2025, May 13, 2025, July 8, 2025, August 1, 2025, and August 12, 2025). And the Trump Administration is not even done with "Trade Talks" which hopefully lead to "Trade Agreements" which will further modify the current tariff situation. Then there's the "retaliatory tariff" response to countries (most recently Canada who quickly put retaliatory tariffs on US products and just as quickly removed them with President Trump's swift response to the situation) where an increase in tariffs is used to bring that country 'back into line' with the new program of "you're no longer going to screw over the US with your tariff process." [RELATED: Canada Drops Retaliatory Tariffs Against the US]

We also know that if Congress can get their hands on this income, it, like everything else Congress can access (like Social Security which is currently being used as a slush fund for 'grants' - money that will NEVER made its way back into the Social Security Fund Pool which is why Social Security is going broke), will be spent on boondoggles to satisfy their lobbyists - NOT the American people. Nor will it actually be used to bring down the debt. They just keep printing money lowering the value of the US dollar and making life more expensive for the American people.

In the meantime, a lot of things happened yesterday at the White House and President Trump was in the middle of most of it. President Trump called a press conference, then loaded the press onto busses to take them elsewhere. Apparently, "elsewhere" was to the "new" People's House Exhibit and White House Souvenir store location. Due to the construction on the entirely privately funded Ballroom being built at the White House, the store needed to relocate. The store was given a much larger space so they could set up a temporary exhibit for the People's House since all White House tours are cancelled until after the Ballroom is complete.

President Trump is using the salary he donates to help refurbish the White House which, apparently, has cracked tiles, rusting faucets, and the entire building is in need of deep cleaning, polishing, etc. He claims the work being done is 'mostly cosmetic' as opposed to foundational. He also spoke of the refurbishment going on at The Kennedy Center with a focus on the marble that has not been treated well over the years and has become dull. He spoke of the upcoming awards at The Kennedy Center (discussed in my August 14, 2025 ANP Article).

Then the press conference moved back to the Oval Office where President Trump introduced again, Gianni Infantino of the FIFA Club World Games Foundation Board. Tickets for various events will begin sales September 10, 2025 and the main event will kick off at The Kennedy Center on December 5, 2025. Of the 104 matches anticipated, most will be held within the continental US; however, there will be matches held in both Canada (June 12, 2026) and Mexico (June 11, 2026) as well. With the final held July 19, 2026 in the New York New Jersey Stadium. Gianni 'allowed' him to handle the 'official' gold trophy that will be presented to the winner of the FIFA Games in 2026, telling President Trump that only FIFA officials and Presidents of Countries are allowed to touch it because the trophy is 'for winners only.' Of course, President Trump offered to keep it for him and told him it would look good in the oval office and it would fit perfectly "right over there" (but the cameras did not turn to where the President pointed). Reminded me of Golem and his "precious" in the Hobbit movies.

Today's Patriot is "America's Doctor" Benjamin Rush who was born January 4, 1746 in Byberry, outside Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was 1 of 7 children, 4 of whom survived to adulthood. When Benjamin's father died in 1751, his mother opened a grocery and provision store to help support her 4 living children.

Benjamin was educated by private tutors followed by attending a private school in Nottingham, Maryland; then he went on to Princeton College, graduating in 1760 (at 14). He then studied medicine over the next 9 years moving from one major city to another (Philadelphia, Edinburgh, London, and Paris) finally opening his own practice in August 1769.

Benjamin was greatly influenced by Samuel Finley and Samuel Davies, both Calvinists. When he became a physician, this influence can be seen in his stance that "nature was fallen, [and] did not trust nature to cure disease." While learning medicine in Edinburgh, he wrote his friend "our young men . . . are whole devoted to pleasure and sensuality" (kind of sounds like people of today).

Benjamin married Julia Stockton on January 11, 1776 in New Jersey. They had 13 children, 9 of whom survived to adulthood.

Benjamin taught Chemistry 1769-1789, Theory and Practice of Medicine 1789-1791 and 1796-1813, and was Professor of the Institutes of Medicine and Clinical Practice 1791-1813.

Benjamin was a member of the Continental Congress in 1776 and 1777. He signed the Declaration of Independence (one of 1 physicians to do so: Josiah Bartlett, Lyman Hall, and Matthew Thornton being the other 3). During the war, he was the Revolutionary Army Surgeon General of the Middle Department in April 1777. He was promoted to Physician General in July 1777, resigned his commission is February 1778, and returned to his medical practice. 

In 1787, he was a delegate to the Pennsylvania ratification convention. He founded the Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, was president of the Philadelphia Medical Society, VP and a founder of the Philadelphia bible Society, a founder of Dickinson College at Carlisle, Pennsylvania, assisted in establishment of the Philadelphia dispensary in 1786, and treasurer of the US Mint at Philadelphia from 1799 to his death in 1813.

By 1803, Benjamin was the most famous physician in America due to his prolific pen as well as his energy and dedication. However, he believed illness was caused by chemical and physical imbalances in the body and that the best treatment was "purge and bleed" using purgatives and blood-letting. During the yellow fever epidemic, Benjamin saved many of the sickest patients; although, none of his individual treatments (like purgatives or blood-letting) could be found to be the reason. It would not be until the 19th century that germs and mosquitos would be considered vectors of disease.

Benjamin died from typhus fever on April 19, 1813 at age 67 at home according to the upenn archives while others have him passing away during the Philadelphia Monthly Meeting, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is interred in Christ Church Burying Ground, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1965, the American Psychiatry Association hailed Benjamin as the "Father of American Psychiatry" apparently for his text Medical Inquiries and Observations, Upon the Diseases of the Mind (1812).

• Without learning, men are incapable of knowing their rights.
