There is an uproar in the media today over anonymous sources in the intel community telling the Washington Post (sound familiar?) that Attorney General Jeff Sessions, when he was still a Senator and a member of the member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, met with a Russian envoy twice last year. Democrats are howling that Sessions should resign, some Republican turncoats are squirming, while the White House is standing behind Sessions, with Sessions spokesperson issue a statement saying "Last year, the senator had over 25 conversations with foreign ambassadors as a senior member of the Armed Services Committee, including the British, Korean, Japanese, Polish, Indian, Chinese, Canadian, Australian, German and Russian ambassadors. He was asked during the hearing about communications between Russia and the Trump campaign — not about meetings he took as a senator and a member of the Armed Services Committee."
POLITICAL THEATER
While almost everyone has an opinion on this from the left to the right, with House minority leader Nancy Pelosi calling for Sessions' resignation, it is interesting that one of Trump's most vehement opponents during the primaries, is the one offering up a little objectivity over the whole "nothing burger" story, as Senator Ted Cruz calls it.
"What we are seeing is a lot of political theater," Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said on "Morning Joe."
"This morning, everyone is in high dudgeon about the meeting," Cruz continued. "The underlying meeting is a nothing burger. It's what senators do every day. Meeting with foreign ambassadors, that's part of the job," he said.
"I think everyone is getting all worked up because it's a chance to beat up the attorney general and to beat up the president," said Cruz.
House majority leader Paul Ryan definitely gets the quote of the day though as he was asked about this issue during his weekly press conference where he asserts that meeting with foreign ambassadors is par for the course for Congressional members, highlighting that he himself just met with the ambassador of India, as well as meeting with about 100 ambassadors recently, stating that "Democrats are lighting their hair on fire to get you to cover this story (inaudible) keeps repeating the same story." Ryan assures the reporters that there is absolutely nothing "new" in the story, that the relevant committees in Congress have known all this information and have determined that there was no collusion between the Trump campaign, nor any American, and Russia, regarding the election.
To show the type of political theater we are watching play out, we have the perfect evidence by way of Senator Claire McCaskill of Missouri, who acted shocked that a member of the Senate would meet with (gasp) a Russian envoy, tweeting just this morning "I've been on the Armed Services Com for 10 years. No call or meeting w/Russian ambassador. Ever. Ambassadors call members of Foreign Rel Com."
Problem is, the Internet never forgets as Red State highlights from two past tweets from that very same Senator:
DEEP STATE PANICKING AND ESCALATING ATTACKS AGAINST TRUMP ADMIN
The Obama lackies that are still in intelligence positions are still attempting to undermine the Trump administration, and have escalated these attacks because the respective agencies heads, the ones that Trump has placed, have been cleaning house, and frankly they know their days are numbered.
Recently it was reported that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson started "cleaning house" at the State Department, in what was reported as a "blood bath," with NYP describing it in the following manner:
Staffers in the offices of deputy secretary of state for management and resources as well as counselor were shown the door Thursday, according to CBS News.
Many of those let go were on the building’s seventh floor — top-floor bigs — a symbolically important sign to the rest of the diplomatic corps that their new boss has different priorities than the last one.
In early February 2017, three brothers, Abid, Imran, and Jamal Awan, who managed office information technology for members of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and other lawmakers were abruptly relieved of their duties on suspicion that they accessed congressional computers without permission.
Three members of the intelligence panel and five members of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs were among the dozens of members who employed the suspects on a shared basis. The two committees deal with many of the nation’s most sensitive issues and documents, including those related to the war on terrorism.
While they were barred from accessing the computer systems, pending investigations, and many congressmen relieved them of their duties, two Democrats took almost a month to officially dismiss them, which was reported yesterday.
Those reports followed the under-reported news back in early January 2017, that Trump was working with top advisors to "restructure and pare back the nation’s top spy agency, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, prompted by a belief that it has 'become bloated and politicized'."
In less diplomatic terms, Trump understood there are "politicized" operatives, aka "deep state" agents within the intelligence community and he is "restructuring" in order to weed them out, which the State Department's "blood bath" indicates is proceeding as planned, hence the most recent rush on the part of those deep state agents to attack the Trump administration with this latest "nothing burger" on Sessions.
OBAMA SETTING UP 'SHADOW GOVERNMENT' INSURGENCY
Understanding that his lackies in the intelligence community are being weeded out, Barack Obama has decided to enter the game again, setting up house with Valerie Jarrett, who he moved into his new home blocks from the White House, in order to be the "nerve center for their plan to mastermind the insurgency against President Trump," according to the Daily Mail.
Obama's goal, according to a close family friend, is to oust Trump from the presidency either by forcing his resignation or through his impeachment.
And Obama is being aided in his political crusade by his longtime consigliere, Valerie Jarrett, who has moved into the 8,200-square-foot, $5.3-million Kaloroma mansion with the former president and Michelle Obama, long time best friends.
Isn't it coincidental that he does this and the story is released the same day as those anonymous sources gave Washington Post a new "Russia! story to run with?
BOTTOM LINE
Since Trump appointees are starting to clean house of Obama operatives in positions of power, Washington Post and their "deep state" sources are escalating their push to destroy the Trump administration before they are all weeded out, by "reporting" on information that Congress has been aware of as part of their investigations by appropriate committees, and pretending they are huge revelations.
Knowing his operatives will soon no longer be in positions where they can harm the Trump administration, Barack Obama will take a different tack by attempting to create a shadow government insurgency in an attempt to oust Trump from the presidency before he can fully dismantle Obama's damaging policies.
This was made patently clear by former Attorney General Eric Holder stating on Tuesday "It's coming. He's coming," meaning Obama, then continuing on to say "And he's ready to roll."
