As a woman that believes in equality, while understanding there are biological differences that make men and women different on a physical level, with each group having different strengths and weaknesses that balance each other out, I have spoken out against what modern day feminism has become on a regular basis, but the most recent support by progressive feminists for Democrats in Congress that blocked the passage of the "Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act" has forever entwined the term "feminism," with "infanticide."
Infanticide, by definition, is the intentional killing of a child within a year of birth.
Brief Background: The topic exploded into national conversation at the end of January 2019, when Virginia General Assembly delegate Kathy Tran was caught on camera promoting a proposal that would allow an abortion up until the moment of birth, even if the woman was dilating and in labor.
The one minute clip below shows her admitting that, just for the sake of verifying my assertion above, watch.
After that clip went viral, Virginia's governor Ralph Northam, defended that proposal, but took it even further, stating, and I quote "The infant would be delivered, the infant would be kept comfortable, the infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired. And then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother," which when listening to him, appears that he is promoting further "discussion" about the fate of the child, after it was born and breathing.
Again, listen and decide for yourself.
Immediately after Northam's remarks went viral, another scandal engulfed him after an ex-classmate who heard his radio interview was so angered, then released a photo of Northam's year book page which showed two men, one dressed in black-face and one in a KKK robe and hood, and the media instantly dropped the infanticide remarks in favor of covering the "racist," images.
FEMINISTS, DEMOCRATS & INFANTICIDE ARE NOW FOREVER ENTWINED
The Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, would have required that health professionals give proper medical care to any infant that was born alive after a botched abortion, yet every "progressive" Democratic politician voted to block that bill from receiving a full Senate vote to be passed into law.
Read it yourself, it isn't a long bill, but everything focuses on a baby, living outside the mother's womb and what is required of doctors.
Also, every feminist Democrat politician that has announced their candidacy for president for 2020, voted against that bill, via the National Review:
All six of the Democratic senators currently running for the 2020 presidential nomination voted against the bill: Cory Booker (N.J.), Sherrod Brown (Ohio), Kirsten Gillibrand (N.Y.), Kamala Harris (Calif.), Amy Klobuchar (Minn.), and Elizabeth Warren (Mass.), along with Independent Bernie Sanders of Vermont.
Ok, so that is just the Democrats in Congress, but a look into the written and published defense pieces about their refusal to protect a living baby by blocking this bill, makes it very clear that to modern day feminists, requiring adequate and equal medical treatment to a baby, born alive after a botched abortion, is an "Extreme Anti-Choice Attack."
Sub header over at the Washington Post via the AP, states "The Latest: Democrats block Senate GOP anti-abortion effort." (Archive.is link here)
How is it an "anti-abortion" effort when the entire bill focuses on a baby that was already born, alive?
In that piece it states "Opponents” of the GOP bill “say the measure was an effort to appeal to conservative voters and continue a GOP assault on abortion rights."
Feminist writer Alanna Vagianos over at Huffington Post, took the same defensive and misleading position, calling the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act an "anti-abortion bill."
Once again, abortion is not the issue of the bill, it is to protect and provide medical care to a baby that is already born, unless of course, the writer thinks that "abortion" should include murdering and/or simply allowing a living child to die due to lack of medical intervention, is alright... which by the way, is infanticide.
And finally loony progressive outlet ThinkProgress got in on advocating for newborn slaughter as a women’s choice with their own headline: “Senators to cast show votes on anti-abortion bill after manufactured ‘infanticide’ controversy.” Yes of course this one played into all the hard-spun talking points, like “infanticide” not being the appropriate term for murder of live infants, or that this issue is somehow still regulated to abortion category, and therefore another way for GOP monsters to control women’s bodies.
Via Focus on the Family we see individual statements from other "feminists" in Congress, regarding a bill, which I will repeat once again, that would make it mandatory for a health professional to provide care to a baby that was born alive, and does not address the "abortion" controversy at all:
“(This bill) would compel physicians to provide unnecessary medical care. It would override physicians’ professional judgement, and it would put physicians in the position of facing criminal penalties if their judgement for what is best for their patients is contrary to what is in this bill…This bill interferes with the doctor patient relationship.” – Tina Smith (MN-D)
“Regardless of what the intent of the regulation is, the way (the bill) is written, it intimidates doctors with the threat of criminal liability for performing safe and legal abortion. It will have a chilling effect on the ability of women to access the services they need in the United States.” – Jeanne Shaheen (NH-D)
“This legislation we’re debating today is the latest salvo in the far-right assault on women’s constitutionally protected right to an abortion…The Senate is not debating this legislation today because there is an epidemic of infanticide in this country. Instead, we are indulging the majority’s use of a false premise to inflame the public, shame women and intimidate health care providers.” – Mazie Hirono (HI-D)
“…(They are) pushing this bill to criminalize reproductive care no matter the cost. If it becomes law, this bill would force doctors to preform ineffective and invasive procedures on fetuses born with fatal abnormalities.” – Tammy Duckworth (IL-D)
Not one of those statements accurately describe what is in the bill itself, but feminist and pro-abortion groups all are mimicking those same type of talking points.
THE PUBLIC IS APPALLED BY LATE TERM ABORTION AND INFANTICIDE
Perhaps the best gauge as to how appalled the public is in Democrat politicians refusal to offer additional protections to newborns that survive the abortion process by making it criminal for health providers to refuse equal services to abortion survivors as it does any other newborn, is the dramatic shift in percentages of Americans now identifying as pro-life rather than pro-abortion, which they like to call "pro-choice."
A recent Marist poll compares the shift in just one month, since the Infanticide comments by Northam, and the democrats that refused to allow a bill an up and down vote that would protect newborns.
Via KoC: "In a substantial, double-digit shift, according to the poll, Americans are now as likely to identify as pro-life (47 percent) as pro-choice (47 percent). Just last month, a similar survey conducted by The Marist Poll found Americans more likely to identify as pro-choice than as pro-life by 17 percentage points (55 to 38 percent). Democrats moved in their pro-life identity from 20 percent to 34 percent."
"Among Democrats, the gap between pro-life and pro-choice identifiers was cut in half from 55 percent to 27 percent. The number of Democrats now identifying as pro-life is 34 percent, up from 20 percent last month, while the number identifying as pro-choice fell from 75 percent to 61 percent. Younger Americans also moved dramatically, now dividing 47 percent pro-life to 48 percent pro-choice. One month ago, the gap was almost 40 percentage points with only 28 percent identifying as pro-life and 65 percent identifying as pro-choice."
Yet another poll by SBA List, provided charts that show overwhelming opposition to late term abortion up to the point where a woman is in labor.
The second chart shows the overwhelming support Americans have for legislation that would "ensure that a baby who survives a failed abortion would be given the same medical treatment as any other baby born prematurely at the same age."
BOTTOM LINE
Feminists and Democrats extremist and radical support for Infanticide and late term abortion up to the point of birth, and their support for Democrats that voted to block a bill that would protect a newborn by threatening legal actions against any health care professional that refused to offer proper medical care to a newborn that survived a botched abortion, has appalled Americans enough to have them backing away from the label of "pro-choice."
This very public national debate, despite feminist writers attempting to mislead about the difference between "abortion" and protecting a newborn after an abortion failed, has offered the opportunity for Americans to finally see that "pro-choice" is simply a term to hide their ultimate desire to be able to kill a baby even as it is being born.
Every time they try to distract or mislead, another American wakes to see what they are doing and promoting.
After this national, public spectacle, feminists, democrats and Infanticide will be forever entwined in the minds of tens of millions of Americans.
