In Berkeley we have seen multiple reports, and videos, showing the police stood down and allowed these terrorists free reign.
We have heard suggestions that range from Mark Levin wanting President Trump to federalize the CA National Guard, to which many vehemently oppose because of the slippery slope that puts our nation on, to other ideas including my own in the video below, that the administration go after the funding of cities and states that allow these political terrorists free reign, which is a slower process, especially with liberal judges that raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Obama, ruling against President Trump's policy decisions on funding, so by the time the legal process gets the cases to the Supreme Court, the new fiscal year will already have arrived, then Trump can just deny any funding applications.
Bottom line there is Levin's suggestion is not a viable option due to lack of support, and the other is not an immediate answer to stop the political terrorism right now.
THE ANSWER IS STUPIDLY SIMPLE
We remind readers that terrorism is defined as "The unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims," by Oxford, and "the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion," by Merriam Webster.
While it is a constitutional right, under the First Amendment, "of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances," nowhere in the First Amendment does it allow for violence, riots, or unlawful actions, which include shutting down roads, police departments, or violently attacking people that hold a different political ideology, nor the destruction of property.
In fact, just the opposite is clearly stated with the one word "peaceably."
The legal definition of terrorism is divided into two parts under 18 U.S. Code § 2331 - Definitions, one dealing with "international terrorism" and one specifically describing what is legally considered "domestic terrorism," which is what is highlighted below:
(5) the term “domestic terrorism” means activities that— (A) involve acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or of any State; (B) appear to be intended— (i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping; and (C) occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States.
It is inarguable that the riots seen in Portland, Oregon following President Trump's election, were "dangerous to human life," and violated the criminal laws of a state and the United States laws, also the three violent events and riots in Berkeley since February 2017, were meant to "intimidate or coerce the civilian population" into cancelling events the terrorists did not wish to occur, including this latest cancellation of the Oregon parade, as well successful attempts to "influence policy of a government by intimidation or coercion," and that all of these events occurred "primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States."
Further support for the opinion that these types of violent riots do indeed meet the criteria for "domestic terrorism," comes from a March report, where the Department of Homeland Security's Office of Intelligence and Analysis and the North Carolina Information Sharing and Analysis Center, linked the post-election riots in Portland, Oregon with "domestic terrorist violence."
Which brings me to the stupidly simple answer to this growing problem that is happening with increased frequency, where peaceful protests are being infiltrated by anarchist groups with the sole intention of committing unlawful acts, starting riots, destroying property and endangering the lives of civilians.
It the purview of the Department of Homeland Security to protect the American people from terrorist activities.
As described on their website "Protecting the American people from terrorist threats is the reason the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was created, and remains our highest priority."
Under Obama the DHS was used to intimidate "peaceful" protesters, veterans, members of the tea party, patriot groups, all labeled as "dangerous," and extremists, yet today, when cowardly masked thugs are actually committing illegal acts, threatening events and the safety of students on college campuses like Berkeley, publicly calling for violence against civilians, destroying property, throwing fire-bombs, we have to ask why the DHS is not doing their jobs?
We are not suggesting in any way, shape or form, that "peaceful" protesters be targeted by the DHS, or that the DHS be politicized as it was under Obama to label, or categorize those that protest Trump's policies in a peaceful manner, but there is absolutely no reason why the Department of Homeland Security cannot surround events where anarchists are publicly threatening violence against American citizens, and round up just those that are throwing the fire-bombs, attacking peaceful rally attendees, starting fires and destroying property, and charging them with terrorist activities.
It fits the legal definition as shown by the DHS's own reports linking the post-election Portland riots to domestic terrorism, and therefore they are subject to federal law, federal arrest and federal prosecution.
If the local, liberal leaders of these cities and states will not protect their citizens, it is the job of the DHS to do so and they have the legal right, in fact, responsibility, to do so.
There is no need to federalize a state's National Guard, which many believe is a slippery slope to martial law, which no one wants, and considering the locations and leadership of those states and cities, would only lead to accusations of "targeting an opposing political party."
The first step would be to officially designate Antifa and BAMN (By Any Means Necessary), both groups that have made public threats of violence and unlawful activities, as well as calling for more violence measures to be taken, as "terrorist organizations," and then start rounding them up and charging them with terrorist activity within the United States.
To any liberals that would claim that would be like Obama designating the Tea Party or other groups as terrorists organizations, they never threatened violence, they never caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in property damages, they never threatened death to their political opponents, and they never rioted and posed a threat to the safety of innocent American civilians..... so do not even attempt to conflate the two, there is no comparison.
BOTTOM LINE MESSAGE TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES
Mr. President, and Attorney General Sessions.... do your jobs, protect Americans and 'preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States,' as your oath of office requires you to do.
As I state in the video below, if the patriots in America are forced to do the job for you by protecting and defending civilians threatened by these terrorist groups, you will have a full-fledged civil war on your hands.
Note- In the video above I suggest President Trump go after these states' funding for the next fiscal year, but by then it could be too late.
