The MSM, especially the whiners over at CNN, tell their gullible viewers that it is President Trump's "attacks" on them that has caused the majority of the general public to distrust them, but the graph shown above shows the lie of that argument, since trust in the media has been dwindling since the 1970s.

Gallup first asked this question in 1972 and has continued to do so nearly every year since 1997. Trust ranged between 68% and 72% in the 1970s, and though it had declined by the late 1990s, it remained at the majority level until 2004, when it dipped to 44%. After hitting 50% in 2005, it has not risen above 47%.

The latest findings, from Gallup's annual Governance poll conducted Aug. 31-Sept. 13, are consistent with all but one recent trust rating -- in 2016, a steep decline in Republicans' trust in the media led to the lowest reading on record (32%).

Republicans' trust has not recovered since then, while Democrats' has risen sharply. In fact, Democrats' trust over the past four years has been among the highest Gallup has measured for any party in the past two decades. This year, the result is a record 63-percentage-point gap in trust among the political party groups.

Regular ANP readers know that we do not take much stock in the actual numbers/figures given in the polling data because too many things skew those numbers, i.e. the breakdown in demographics of the respondents, the phrasing of the question, etc.... but we do pay attention to patterns and trends, and since Gallup has been asking this question annually since 1972, the pattern is easy to see.

Interestingly, the new graph showing the distrust the majority of Americans have for the MSM starts at 1998, so the severe downward trend line doesn't look as prominent as the full data graph.

Before moving along to examples of this type of misreporting, fake news and outright pushing of Democrat propaganda, we'll look at the breakdown of demographics in this 2020 survey because it clearly shows the correlation between the leftward lurch in the media, and its inherent bias, and the continued dwindling trust of the majority of Americans.

The last graph actually shows the breakdown of how many trust the mass media a "great deal" in comparison to "a fair amount," as well as those that have "none" and those that say "not very much."

Readers do not need help breaking those numbers down but it still is worth mentioning that even the Democrats have a very low (16) shown as having a "great deal" of trust in the media. That number has also dropped by 8 percentage points just over the last year alone.

THEY NEVER LEARN................

Despite the historical data showing how trust has dwindled, the MSM continues to blame others and making excuses, as CNN's Brian Stelter recently did when he whined that he was a "hate object" for the Fox News audience.

STELTER: Yeah, I'm one of their hate objects, and we just have to view it the way it is. Let's call it what it is. Trump is leading a hate movement against the media and he has a bunch of hate objects, and Fox picks up on those and runs with those. But, it is so surreal, Seth. When you're watching Sean Hannity's show, and all of a sudden he's calling you Humpty Dumpty, and he's using a funny picture of you on TV, that never gets old that is always weird and it's weird for me because Hannity used to be really friendly with me he gave me great advice when I went in to CNN like, you know, he used to be almost a mentor of sorts. Tucker Carlson, too. He donated money when I was a blogger. So, to have these relationships with these guys, and then to see them fall so far down the Trump rabbit hole, it really is surreal. You know, Tucker called me a eunuch once, and I had to Google that word. And I wish I hadn't learned what it meant but now everyday, I get tweets from people calling me, calling me those insults. And it really does speak to how this information war is waged. Like, I think it's mostly funny, and I don't really care that they call me Humpty-Dumpty, and I know that I've got a bald, you know, head but, it does show how the information war is waged when all these trolls pile on and use the nicknames that Fox comes up with you know what I mean?

This is especially amusing coming from Stelter that spends the majority of his time attacking Fox News, and their viewers, and even wrote a book about how horrible Fox News is. 

Stelter watches Fox more than most those reading this, combined, as has been noted multiple times by those reading his social media where he is constantly complaining about the outlet.

Stelter isn't the only so-called journalist that has forever dumped even the pretense of objectivity, playing the part of a Democrat activist under the guise of being a "news" person.

BIDENS HIDES HOPING THE MEDIA WILL GET HIM ELECTED

A thank you to reader Battlesheep for the meme shown above, as it perfectly represents what has been happening throughout this 2020 campaign cycle as Joe Biden has hidden out in his basement bunker while his vice presidential running mate, Kamala Harris, and his wife go out and do all the talking, with the media working hard to use their outlets to get him elected.

This reminds me of another media gaffe where they accidently admitted that they were actively promoting Hillary Clinton, even before she announced her candidacy, also admitting they have given her a free ride.

"We are the biggest ones promoting her campaign," said CNN's Chris Cuomo.

Doesn't that just say it all about the media's true allegiance? It isn't to inform the public, nor reporting the news, but rather to getting Democrats elected, while sliming Republicans and their supporters with misleading statements, selectively edited videos and all-out fake news.

BOTTOM LINE

We are racing towards the finish line to the 2020 presidential election, and no doubt the media and their "anonymous" or non-existent sources are going to pull out all the stops, lie about Trump and/or his supporters, and hide relevant Biden news that Americans need to know in order to make an informed decision.

It is up to Independent Media readers, you who are reading this now, to bypass the MSM as we all did in 2016, because Democrats, which includes the mainstream media,  will lie, cheat and steal to get their candidate elected, and only Independent Media and their readers, can balance the scales. 

Many do not like President Trump's Twitter habit, or personality, but the final question when all is said and done, is "do you want Joe Biden as your president?" Should Biden be elected, it is likely, after witnessing his seeming mental decline, that it will be Kamala Harris running the show.

If that doesn't motivate Republicans and conservatives to do everything in their power to prevent a Harris/Biden presidency, then they get exactly what they deserve.

One of the best examples of the media continuously promoting democrat talking points and pushing their own narrative comes in the form of the daily press briefings, where they tee up a question based on nothing more than what they want people to think, then when answered clearly, pretend that their questions are not being answered.

Watch..... frankly they have earned the lack of trust that the majority of Americans have in them.
