CNN reporters are in full damage control mode on social media, where after being busted on publishing "very fake news," as Breitbart called it, they are now outright lying in an attempt to cover up their previous lies.
Quick recap: In June 2017 alone, CNN lied about what James Comey was going to say during Senate hearings, then after his prepared statement went live, they changed their headline, changed their story and added a correction and editors note. Then they published an outright false story which they were forced to retract, delete and apologize for. Then James O'Keefe from Project Veritas published undercover videos of a CNN producer admitting that their Russia coverage was bullsh*t and that President Trump was right in calling it a "witch hunt."
NOTE- O'Keefe now says part 2 of the "American Pravda: CNN" will be released on Wednesday, June 28, 2017. His statement, as a response to another CNN reporter that claims the CNN producer shown in the video above "isn't involved in Russia or Trump coverage," to which O'Keefe responded "That's just the reaction we were expecting and it just punctuates the video we release about CNN tomorrow."
O'Keefe indicates in another tweet the second video comes out around noon.
Caught up? Good, because the fallout, not just from the false articles and fake news being pushed by CNN, but more from their attempts at damage control as well as other media outlets circling the wagons in an attempt to protect CNN, has been brutal.
In the sixth month of Donald Trump’s presidency, we are witnessing an unprecedented meltdown of much of the media. Standards have been tossed overboard in a frenzy to bring down the president.
Trump, like all presidents, deserves coverage that is skeptical and tough, but also fair. That’s not what he’s getting.
What started as bias against him has become a cancer that is consuming the best and brightest. In rough biblical justice, media attempts to destroy the president are boomeranging and leaving their reputations in tatters.
He accuses them of publishing fake news, and they respond with such blind hatred that they end up publishing fake news. That’ll show him.
In reaction to the inaccurate, poorly sourced, false story that CNN retracted, deleted and apologized for, they network claimed the three journalists responsible for the story, Tom Frank, editor Eric Lichtblau and Lex Haris, had "resigned." Well, we find out now, that response was also misleading as the victim of their lies, Anthony Scaramucci, had threatened CNN with a 100 million dollar libel suit, forced them to retract the story, and "They called them in and said they’d pay out their contracts, but they should leave immediately."
Sounds to me a lot like being fired versus "resigning," but that is up to interpretation so we won't label it fake news, just "spin."
More major fallout occurred during the White House press briefing, when other outlets decided to try to help CNN out, so rather than asking WH Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee-Sanders policy questions on any number of topics, the journalist instead decided to ask her about President Trump's reaction to CNN's fake news story, the retraction and the so-called resignations, asking why that was not enough.
Her response goes to show why the man should have kept his mouth shut, because things got much worse for CNN at that point when Sarah not only highlighted the other fake stories from CNN recently, but then encouraged all the journalists in the room, and "everybody across the country" to watch the Project Veritas video.
Sanders: I don’t know that it’s that the response isn’t good enough for the president. I think it’s the constant barrage of fake news directed at this president, probably, that has garnered a lot of his frustration. You point to that report. There are multiple other instances where that outlet that you referenced has been repeatedly wrong, and had to point that out or be corrected. There’s a video circulating now — whether it’s accurate or not, I don’t know, but I would encourage everybody in this room, and frankly everybody across the country, to take a look at it. I think if it is accurate, I think it’s a disgrace to all of media, to all of journalism. I think that we have gone to a place where if the media can’t be trusted to report the news, then that’s a dangerous place for America. And I think if that is the place that certain outlets are going, particularly for the purpose of spiking ratings, and if that’s coming directly from the top, I think that’s even more scary, and certainly more disgraceful. And I hope that that’s not the direction we’re headed. I hope that outlets that have continued to use either unnamed sources — sometimes stories with no sources at all — we’ve been going on this Russia-Trump hoax for the better part of a year now, with no evidence of anything. Things like the success at the VA barely get covered. They may get covered for an hour at a time, but this story gets covered day in, day out, and I think America is frankly looking for something better. They’re looking for something more. And I think they deserve something better from our news media.
To make matters worse for all of the MSM, another reporter decided to jump in an accuse Sarah of "inflaming" the public, to which she then nails him good by responding she disagrees because "if anything has been inflamed, its the dishonesty that often takes place by the news media." She goes on to say "I think it is outrageous for you to accuse me of inflaming a story when I was simply trying to respond to his question."
In other words, if you folks open the door, I will walk right through it. Lesson: Do not ask a question if you can't handle the answer and do not want the public to hear the answer.
As to her assertion about "dishonesty that often takes place by the news media," Glenn Greenwald over at the Intercept provides a number of examples of the "media recklessness" and false reporting by a number of outlets, which provides evidence of her claim.
After the press briefing, CNN's Jim Acosta, the man that was told straight to his face in a previous press conference by President Trump that he was "fake news," took to Twitter to claim "Does this feel like America? Where the White House takes q's from conservatives, then openly trashes the news media in the briefing room."
So, while claiming Sarah Huckabee-Sanders was "bashing the press" for calling out the media on dishonest reporting, and while CNN is engulfed in a major fake news scandal, Acosta thinks it is a good idea to push more...... everyone say it together.... FAKE NEWS!!!
The responses to Acosta on Twitter are brutal, users informing him CNN's wounds are "self inflicted," with others highlighting that Trump "called you Fake News and you lived up to it," with another telling Acosta "He didn't trash the media... he only trashed the fake news outlets... and, as we see again, totally justified." CNN is not alone on the hot seat this week, as the New York Times is being sued by former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, for defamation after they also published a very fake news story after the VA shooting of GOP congressman, incorrectly accusing her in a June 14 editorial of inciting Jared Lee Loughner to shoot Rep. Gabby Giffords in 2011, using the reference in a claim of the shootings being part of a "sickeningly familiar pattern."
The paper said Palin incited the shooting, which left congresswoman Gabby Giffords with a severe brain injury, through an ad from her PAC that put “Giffords and 19 other Democrats under stylized cross hairs.”
In fact, the ad never put Giffords or any other individual in the cross hairs — forcing the newspaper of record to issue an embarrassing correction.
The correction, posted on June 16th, admitted that The Times “incorrectly described a map distributed by a political action committee before that shooting.”
The map “depicted electoral districts, not individual Democratic lawmakers, beneath stylized cross hairs,” the correction said.
In the 25 page complaint, we see Palin's legal team specifically highlight that the NYT made the claim despite previous coverage by the same newspaper, "acknowledging that there was no connection between Mrs. Palin and Loughner’s 2011 shooting."
A very interesting twist, reported by Breitbart, is who Palin has hired as her legal team:
Two of Palin’s lawyers–Messrs. Turkel and Vogt–successfully represented Hulk Hogan in his $140 million invasion of privacy suit against Gawker after Gawker published Hogan’s sex tape. As noted on the firm’s website, they “convinced a Pinellas County jury to award Terry Bollea, professionally known as Hulk Hogan, $55 million in economic damages and another $60 million in damages for emotional distress. The jury awarded an additional $25.1 million in punitive damages, making the verdict one of the largest contested verdicts in Pinellas County history.”
The mainstream media is being called out by many of its own media insiders for their reckless disregard of the facts in their attempt to destroy the President, and the chickens are finally coming home to roost as the public, the White House and "we the people" are finally calling them out for their false reporting, and their war on America because we dared vote a candidate in that they did not want elected.
