Ever know someone that seemed incapable of being happy, or of finding enjoyment in anything, always looking for something to complain about? You could say "Good Morning" and their answer is "What's good about it?" You know, the type of person that is only happy when they can make everyone around them as miserable as they are.
AN INTERNET FULL OF HATE, DEPRESSION AND VICTIMHOOD
Most people need not read further to see the countless examples found around the internet because they most likely know someone that fits the description above, some probably have members of their own family that fits the description, but as I have spent the past week observing "discussions" with this specific topic in mind, it appears that the level of literal hate filled rhetoric all across the Internet, is getting worse.
In 2010 a study found that "Teenagers who are addicted to the Internet are more likely to develop depression or other psychiatric problems than teens who are classified as normal Internet users." In 2016 another study confirmed those results and added "anxiety" to the list of symptoms of people that showed excessive reliance on the internet, according to the Internet Addiction Test (IAT).
The research team also administered a further series of self-reported tests to see how the internet addicts compared to the others in the survey on areas such as symptoms of depression and anxiety, impulsiveness, inattention and executive functioning, as well as tests for ADHD.
“We found that those screening positive on the IAT as well as on our scale, had significantly more trouble dealing with their day to day activities, including life at home, at work/school and in social settings,” Van Ameringen said.
“Individuals with internet addiction also had significantly higher amounts of depression and anxiety symptoms, problems with planning and time management, greater levels of attentional impulsivity as well as ADHD symptoms,” he said.
The question: Is it the "internet" that causes these psychiatric problems, or is it the "people" on the internet and the way they interact with each other?
Everything Is Racist: A week of browsing internet forums, Twitter, (not Facebook because I am refusing to go to the site) and comment sections, has shown me utterly miserable people that think every word said is an offense, that scream racism over milk, hair styles and the term Anglo-American, with one African American man being called "a White Supremacist for advocating closed-borders. And a 'Neo-Nazi' for quoting statistics about Black-on-Black crime."
Feminists- Everything Is Offensive: It is hard to know where to start on this category because it appears that a man cannot say "boo" to a woman these days without being accused of "sexism" or "misogyny." Democrats wants Hillary Clinton to shut up and go away and stop making excuses for why she lost, something many, many women would love as well, and she screams sexist because no one told a man to shut up and go away.
Maybe, just maybe people are telling her to sit down and shut up is because the men that lost presidential elections didn't spend a year and five months bitterly complaining about their failed run for president..... just sayin'.
Feminist are some of the most bitter, miserable people I have found on the Internet, and that is saying something since there is plently of that going around. Tell them they are pretty, it is "sexist!." Tell them they are ugly, it is misogyny. Compliment their smile....yup, sexist. Flirt with them it is sexual harassment. Correct a feminists misstatement or lie and you are "mansplaining." If a man sits comfortably he is "manspreading." Compliment a woman on their brains, it is sexist because in their minds you are saying "that is smart, for a woman."
While the examples are never-ending, I'll simply add the following video with a LANGUAGE WARNING," because one of the latest examples of supposed "sexism," seems to be public restrooms.
Frankly the level of vitriol spewed daily by feminists embarasses me, as a woman, on their behalf, but it adds to the dysfunctional and hateful rhetoric seen everywhere on the internet these days.
It took one reading of a piece titled "The 17 Worst Things a Man Can Say to a Woman," for me to come up with 17 other things that would be far worse to say to a woman, yet they truly seem to believe their own press.
Victimhood: It is unbelievable to someone like me that believes if you work hard, live your life to the best of your ability, good things come from it, to see so many on the Internet claim that being born a woman is to be a born "victim." Or seeing the assertion that because a man is born with a penis it automatically makes him a "toxic" sexist, misogynist, because of course the woman is a born victim. Or to be born "white" means one is automatically privileged, because to be born anything other than white makes one a "victim."
IT IS NOT A POLITICAL ISSUE, IT IS INFECTOUS AND CROSSES PARTY LINES
Trump Derangement Syndrome:Lest anyone think that it is only the "left", or "liberal" side of the aisle that has succumbed to being so miserable one wants everyone around them to be just as miserable, we note that hate becomes so infectious it crosses party lines.
Look at the so-called "conservative" over at Washington Post by the name of Jennifer Rubin, who hates President Trump so much, her Trump Derangement Syndrome has gotten so bad that positions she was a hard-core proponent of are automatically bad if the president moves them forward.
The illustrations are endless. In two years, Rubin has gone from arguing that the “ludicrous,” “absurd” Iran deal “has to go” — and, indeed, that John Kasich was a fool for contending otherwise – to praising those who believe it must remain in place as “reasonable” “experts,” and predicting that even to decertify would put “American credibility” at “risk.” In 2015, she wrote that “if you examine the Iran deal in any detail, you will be horrified as to what is in there.” In 2017, she characterizes this position as the “emotional” “temper tantrum” of an “unhinged president.” A similar metamorphosis has sullied her views on tax cuts, welfare, energy, and gun control (before, after), as well as her attitude toward Jews and anti-intellectuals, which once led her to defend Sarah Palin, but which now leads her to condemn Trump on almost all of the grounds she once dismissed.
The descriptions above Rubin’s byline have come to seem tragically misleading. Contrary to popular myth, she is not in fact writing from a “conservative perspective,” but as just one more voice among a host of Trump-obsessed zealots who add nothing to our discourse...........
Just imagine hating someone, anyone, so much that you would rather walk away from your own principles than admit they did anything good, even when what they have done is something you once claimed you wanted?
Another example is fake conservative and vocal #NeverTrump proponent Bill Kristol, who was so upset the president tweeted "Thank you to Rasmussen for the honest polling. Just hit 50%, which is higher than Cheatin’ Obama at the same time in his Administration," that he publicly wished that Michelle Obama was voted in as president in 2020.
I. KID. YOU. NOT.
Kristol still claims to be a conservative.
BOTTOM LINE
Haters are gonna hate, and miserable people are only going to be happy if they can make everyone around as miserable as they are every single day. Is it any wonder that multiple studies have found those addicted to the internet are more depressed and anxious? It isn't the Internet itself, it is the people and how they interact that causes it.
With that said, there is nothing wrong with acknowledging things that are wrong, trying to fix them, but the level of hatred and vitriol seen all across the internet, manufacturing things to be "offended" over, or reasons to scream racism, or sexism, leaves a lot less time to actually address the real problems we face.
Before that, Stop. Smell the roses. Look around and look for the good in life, in people, in events.... and if one "sees" themselves in any of the above examples of misery, pray to God, ask him to show you the light, cast out the evil, because if one only looks for the bad, they will never be able to see any good.
I'll end this leaving readers something to make them smile.
NOTE TO READERS: With digital media revenue spiraling downward, especially hitting those in Independent Media, where attacks from every direction continue to hit, from the 'adpocalyspe' via YouTube, Google and other advertising services, to the MSM attacks against any outlet that doesn't toe the "official narrative," to social media shadow-banning and blocking anything from going viral if it questions that same official narrative, it has become apparent that traditional advertising simply isn't going to fully cover the costs and expenses for many smaller independent websites.
