While Americans were preparing for their Thanksgiving holiday on Wednesday November 25, 2015, Barack Obama signed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2016 as announced on the White House website and linked to the Library of Congress page for the legislation.
Interestingly we see reports from a variety of sources hailing specific parts of the NDAA as a win for banning torture, military retirement overhaul and more, but once again an American citizen must go to the foreign press to see the most egregious portions of the bill which includes not only an additional $300 million in aid to Ukraine, but $500 has been slated to arm and train "moderate Syrian Rebels."
Although Congress then trimmed the bill down to $607 billion, the cuts did not affect the $300 million aid to the Ukrainian government, or the “zombie” surveillance blimp program that has cost nearly $3 billion so far. It also left almost $500 million dedicated to arming and training “moderate rebels” in Syria – a program the Pentagon had already abandoned.
Bluntly speaking, Congress has given Obama over $800 million to continue implementing his proxy war with Russia.
While the text of the actual bill can be gone through with Americans finding things they agree on and things they find abhorrent, I would like to focus on the fact that "more than 45 million people, or 14.5 percent of all Americans" live below the poverty line. Over 23 percent of Americans are currently receiving benefits from one of three major welfare programs; Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (formerly Aid to Families With Dependent Children), Supplemental Security Income, and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (or food stamps). Over 94.5 million Americans are not in the labor force.
The screen shot below if rom the Google search for U.S. Population for 2014, the latest data compile from the United States Census Bureau and the World Bank figures.
The U.S. government is spending $800 million in a proxy war with Russia, while Americans are in poverty, forced to use food stamps and welfare programs to survive and are desparate for work. With less than half of the money being spent to arm and train our enemies, the very "rebels" that reportedly are joining ISIS, the American government could be handing out a portion to each American family.
What could you do with a million dollars? Would it pay off all your debts? Would it leave some extra money in the bank or for you to spend and organically pump fresh life and money into the economy?
While there are many that openly admit to abusing the welfare system, there are also those that use it as it was meant to be used, a helping hand when times get tough until they can get back on their feet, but how many would not even need any type of welfare at all, if just half the money the Obama administration is using to start a war with Russia were given to the American people most in need?
