The theme for day one of the Republican National Convention was "Make America Safe Again," and included a number of unexpected prime time speakers, including former Texas Governor Rick Perry, U.S. Navy Seal Marcus Lutrell, Pat Smith, mother of Benghazi victim Sean Smith, Actor Scott Baio, two Marine Corps veterans that fought in Benghazi John Tiegen and Mark Geist.... but the man that brought the house down, was former Mayor of New York City Rudy Giuliani.
The 2016 Convention schedule lists the themes of each night, to include Tuesday "Make America Work Again." Wednesday "Make America First Again," and Thursday "Make America One Again." A full list of prime time speakers for each night can be seen at the program page here.
Below are the two most talked about speeches of the night, starting with Giuliani's, which pundits are saying created more excitement and had more energy than any speech he ever gave for himself when he ran for president. The second is Donald Trump's wife Melania's speech, to which critics instantly claimed a paragraph was similar to Michelle Obama's speech back in 2008. Drudge Report instantly points out that Obama himself ripped lines from Deval Patric twice in his own speech, offering a video link to prove it.
