Ready To Pay Even More For Food? Expert Predictions Show More Inflation And Continued Shortages Throughout 2023 - Some of These Prices May Never Come Down Again

ANP Reader Image- Lettuce prices spike

By Susan Duclos - All News PpeLine

Anyone remember when food prices started increasing, then spiking, and the media, on behalf of the Fed informed us that said inflation would be "transitory" aka temporary? I do, and from June 2021, the report cited below discusses the testimony from Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell.

Testifying before a House hearing today, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said that a recent rise in inflation is transitory and that a “perfect storm” of strong demand and weak supply due to the reopening of the economy is a substantial cause.

2021 ended and in 2022 prices continued to rise for almost everything. Electronics, clothing, food, appliances and also energy costs. While the media, helping to protect the Biden regime from the ramifications of their polices, continues to boast that gas prices hikes they had blamed on Russia for their war against Ukraine, have gone done, they downplay the fact that the massive increases that began before said war, have not.

Gas is still more expensive today than it was when Joe Biden started occupying the White House.

The gas price for this year’s Thanksgiving was, on average, $1.193 higher than when President Joe Biden assumed office on Jan. 20, 2021, indicating an increase of nearly 50 percent over a period of 22 months.

Food is still far more expensive as are most retail items.

So much for transitory.

For nearly two years we have been told by the propaganda arm of the Democrat party, meaning the MSM, that prices were peaking, and would soon stop, and even go lower again.

Instead what we have seen is shrinkflation where products were packaged in smaller amounts, but sold at the same price or even higher. We have seen prices continue to rise to the point where more families are being forced to food banks and charities to keep food on their tables.

Food banks are also bracing for a harsh Christmas, where giving to others will be heavily impacted.

An increasing number of families reeling from inflation are seeking help from food banks and charitable groups to provide their children with toys, clothes and food for the holidays. Charitable groups are now waiting to see whether inflation leads to fewer donations too.

Already, the Salvation Army is trying to find alternative food suppliers after the West Ohio Food Bank has seen a decline in donations, a trend made worse by increasing need and higher food costs if the non-profit agency has to purchase food elsewhere.

"We want to provide them with their Christmas ham and some fixings to go with it for Christmas day," said Angela Long, family services director for the Lima Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army, which has received a steady increase in calls for assistance throughout the year, has registered more than 560 families for its holiday assistance programs, surpassing last year's need by at least 100 families — a figure which excludes families who only applied for food assistance, Long said.

I guess someone forgot to inform their bank accounts that things are improving. After all the MSM, Joe Biden and liberals say so, right?

In fact all the boasting and bragging about inflation going down, gas prices and food prices leveling, all ignore what the prices look like now compared even to just the beginning of 2022.

United States Food Inflation:

source: tradingeconomics.com

Inflation going down is one thing, claiming all is well because it dropped from 11.4 to 10.9 in the last two months, ignores the reality that in Jan. 2022, it was 7.0.

The numbers are also averages of all items seeing inflation, but certain items, especially food, say increases far higher than the average they keep touting.

Cost of food in the United States increased at a slower 10.9% over a year ago in October of 2022, easing further from an 11.2% rise in the previous month. Prices slowed down for food at home (12.4% vs 13% in September), including cereals and bakery products (15.9% vs 16.2%); dairy and related products (15.5% vs 15.9%) and meats, poultry, fish, and eggs (8% vs 9.8%) and fruits & vegetables (9.3% vs 10.4%). Meanwhile, food away from home was more expensive (8.6% vs 8.5%). source: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics

That also ignores the price hikes from 2021 compared to what prices were before the Biden regime started passing policies and spending in a manner that continued to cause inflation.

HERE WE GO AGAIN..............

Now once again we are seeing headlines promising light at the end of the tunnel.....for the millionth time. Ok, yeah, that is a slight exaggeration, but it feels like we have been told that relief is right around the corner a million times already.

• USDA economists see food inflation cooling in 2023

• Food price inflation should slow in 2nd half of 2023, says expert

The lead author of the 2023 Food Price Report, Sylvain Charlebois, says the high rate of food inflation will start to ease next year because he expects an economic downturn.

USDA: Food Price Inflation Pressures to Continue in 2023

FOODS THAT WILL CONTINUE TO SEE PRICE INCREASES

Once again, predictions that we heard before, but even those predictions are based on average food inflation, without detailing specific consumables that will continue to see price increases.

Via The Packer: "Retail food inflation is slowing, but USDA reports farm prices for fruits and vegetables still running hot."

Farm-level vegetables prices jumped by 22.4% in October 2022, following a 15.7% increase in September, and were 45.8% higher than October 2021, the USDA said.

Farm-level fruit prices are now predicted to increase between 15.5% and 18.5% this year, while farm-level vegetables prices are now predicted to increase between 34% and 37%.

The Packer is dedicated to agriculture news.

These are numbers the major outlet news in America doesn't tell their audiences.

I've said it before and I will say it again: Prepping is no longer for SHTF scenarios or potential catastrophic weather events or terror attacks. Prepping is now a must to survive the Biden regime and the polices, the attacks against farmers (discussed in my previous piece), and continued inflation.

FOOD SHORTAGES IN 2023

As 2023 approaches, we are seeing experts attempt to predict what food shortages we will be seeing in the new year.

Via Yahoo News, we see food shortages experts believe will continue well into 2023. Those include; Bread, sunflower & palm oils, canned food and pet food.

We'll start with bread because ANP writer Alan Barton recently sent me a link to a resource regarding making your own yeast in a variety of ways.

Remember when the toilet paper shortage hit after state leaders decided to shut their cities/states down because of Covid?

As people locked themselves down they started cooking and baking more at home, and both flour and yeast because hard to find, so this is a good resource to bookmark, print out, and keep for future usage.

How to Make and Preserve Your Own Yeast

From just flower and water, to using died fruit, apples, and potatoes and they show how to preserve it as well.

Another item expected to continue to see shortages of in 2023, are different kinds of cooking oil, palm, sunflower and vegetable.

Cooking oils

According to Mashed, corn, butter, Hershey's candy, and tomatoes, are included in their list with some of the aforementioned items from other sources.

BOTTOM LINE

People in Wales are now eating pet food because of the global rising costs, and in the UK they are predicting 15-17% inflation in early 2023 that they claim should lower throughout the year.

What the media and the Biden regime think Americans are too stupid to understand is that even if inflation bottomed out and was zero next month, we would still be paying nearly twice what we were before Biden takes office.
