Philosopher, essayist, poet and novelist, George Santayana once said "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it," and as we watch the headlines coming out of Venezuela, we see proof of his assertion as we watch Socialism/Communism once again destroy a nation as their economic collapse brings "savage suffering," with food shortages and electricity rationing as they are "starved into submission."
Venezuela’s opposition legislature has declared a “nutritional emergency,” proclaiming that the country simply does not have enough food to feed its population. The move comes after years of socialist rationing and shortages that forced millions to wait on lines lasting as long as six hours for a pint of milk, a bag of flour, or carton of cooking oil.
More disturbing for Americans is that we are following that same path as our nations young obviously haven't been taught the past, condemning us to repeat it. According to a recent survey, 43 percent of Millennials (people under 30) have a very or somewhat favorable view of socialism, despite history.
Socialism: any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods.
Communism: a theory or system of social organization based on the holding of all property in common, actual ownership being ascribed to the community as a whole or to the state.
SOCIALIST/COMMUNIST HISTORY IS LITTERED WITH DEATH BY STARVATION
In researching for this article I ran into a Breitbart article over at Steve Quayle's site, titled "Venezuela Declares Another Emergency: It Has Run Out of Food", following that link was a note which stated "SQ-AMERICAS HEADLINES SOON- AS THE SOCIALIST /COMMUNISTS HISTORY IS LITTERED WITH DEATH BY STARVATION-'FOOD IS THE ULTIMATE WEAPON'-'GLOBAL CULLING' IS UNDERWAY'!"
After a series of emails with Quayle we are reminded of how food has been used as a weapon throughout history from Chinese, Russian and German dictators to U.S. government against Native Americans.
A Few Examples:
Pol Pot: (1925-1998) and his communist Khmer Rouge movement led Cambodia from 1975 to 1979. During that time, about 1.5 million Cambodians out of a total population of 7 to 8 million died of starvation, execution, disease or overwork. (Source - History.com)
Joseph Stalin: Starting in the late 1920s, Joseph Stalin launched a series of five-year plans intended to transform the Soviet Union from a peasant society into an industrial superpower. His development plan was centered on government control of the economy and included the forced collectivization of Soviet agriculture, in which the government took control of farms. Millions of farmers refused to cooperate with Stalin’s orders and were shot or exiled as punishment. The forced collectivization also led to widespread famine across the Soviet Union that killed millions. (Source - History.com)
The Turks - Armenian Genocide: On April 24, 1915, the Armenian genocide began. That day, the Turkish government arrested and executed several hundred Armenian intellectuals. After that, ordinary Armenians were turned out of their homes and sent on death marches through the Mesopotamian desert without food or water. Frequently, the marchers were stripped naked and forced to walk under the scorching sun until they dropped dead. People who stopped to rest were shot. (Source - History.com)
Nazi Germany - The Hunger Plan: An economic management scheme created by Nazi Germany during World War II, that was put in place to ensure that Germans were given priority in food supplies at the expense of the inhabitants of the German-occupied Soviet territories. This plan was developed during the planning phase for the Wehrmacht (German Armed Forces) invasion of the Soviet Union in June 1941 (Operation Barbarossa). Germany itself was running low on food supplies, and the same problem faced the various territories occupied by Germany. The fundamental premise behind the Hunger Plan was that Germany was not self-sufficient in food supplies during the war, and to sustain the war it needed to obtain the food from conquered lands at any cost. It was an engineered famine, planned and implemented as a rational act of policy for the benefit of the German nation above all others. Native Americans - Assimilation, Relocation & Genocide - Via Indian Country Diaries: The first “choice” was for a tribe to assimilate into the dominant American culture, become "civilized," give up tribal ways and be absorbed into America society.
Second "Choice" - Relocate: Even if a tribe, like the Cherokee, tried to join the American society, they could still be forced to relocate to Oklahoma Indian Territory hundreds of miles away. That's what happened on the Trail of Tears. (The Trail of Tears was a series of forced relocations of Native American nations in the United States following the Indian Removal Act of 1830. The relocated people suffered from exposure, disease, and starvation while en route, and more than ten thousand died before reaching their various destinations.- Wiki)
Third "Choice" -Genocide: Some tribes chose to fight or were forced to resist. While many have won some battles, they lost all the wars. Hundreds and thousands of Native Americans were killed in battles or by disease or starvation.

'TRAP, BAIT AND SLAUGHTER'
Once again, understanding the past is the only way to understand what we see happening in the present, but more importantly what is coming in the future.
In the series of emails referenced above, Quayle pointed out that "Native American reservations were designed to keep the natives in a perpetual state of dependence yielding a perpetual state of control (Welfare ring a bell)," and in researching that statement we see via About.com, that reservations are lands "retained by the tribes after the treaty-based land cessions (not to mention other mechanisms by which the U.S. seized Indian lands without consent)."
We also find that Indian reservations are lands held in trust for tribes by the federal government.
This problematically means that the tribes technically do not own title to their own lands, but the trust relationship between tribes and the U.S. dictates that the U.S. has a fiduciary responsibility to administer and manage the lands and resources to the best advantage of the tribes.
In other words, making them dependent on the U.S. government.
Generations of lawmakers have recognized the failures of federal Indian policy. These policies have consistently resulted in the highest levels of poverty and other negative social indicators compared to all other American populations, including substance abuse, mortality rates, education and others.
Dependence on the government, from cradle to grave, the socialist/communist dream of Utopia which was highlighted in the highly criticized "Life of Julia" campaign by Barack Obama in 2012 and to which we are seeing play out before our very eyes as we see more than 35 percent of Americans (109,631,000) are receiving some type of welfare as of 2012, which is the latest numbers provided by Census Bureau.
While government dependence is the "trap," the "bait" is food as the amount of food stamp (SNAP) beneficiaries are listed as 45,453,806 persons for November 2015, an increase of 85,541 persons compared with October 2015.
We have also heard an increasing number of people talk about certain food shortages at their smaller local stores with other items taking longer to be restocked, and now recent reports show us that over 150 Walmart stores (including Super Centers and Neighborhood Markets), some newly built, are closing, which will further induce food shortages across the nation. Add that to the recent alarming news the Baltic Dry Index, traditionally a leading indicator of world economic growth has hit record lows, and we see a "strategic starvation" agenda playing out.

The ultimate goal of what some refer to as the "global elite," is depopulation, as evidenced by multiple quotes from high profile individuals such as CNN Founder Ted Turner who once stated "A total population of 250-300 million people, a 95% decline from present levels, would be ideal."

With the ongoing bad news about the economy, the stock market volatility and the MSM starting to finally acknowledge a likely recession, the following Deagel quote highlighted by Stefan Stanford in August 2015, becomes quite disturbing:
The collapse of the Western financial system will wipe out the standard of living of its population while ending ponzi schemes such as the stock exchange and the pension funds. The population will be hit so badly by a full array of bubbles and ponzi schemes that the migration engine will start to work in reverse accelerating itself due to ripple effects thus leading to the demise of the States. BOTTOM LINE
Anyone that doubts the United Nations is the entity behind the planned annihilation of up to 90 percent of the population and that they planned long ago to use food as a weapon of mass destruction, needs to note the words of Catherine Bertini, Executive director U.N. World Food Programme, Beijing, China at the U.N. 4th World Conference on Women, September, 1995, where she stated "What a valuable tool food aid can be in changing behaviour. ... food is power. ... Yes, it's bribery. We don't apologize for that."
Not only is Venezuela a modern day example of how Socialism/Communism fails spectacularly, but it is also a window into what has already begun in America as government dependence is the trap, food is the bait and slaughter is the ultimate goal.
