France is under attack again, a terrorist attack is being reported with horrifying images of fire at the Eifel Tower, and bodies "strewn across" the streets, with preliminary reports saying at least  80+ have been killed and over 100 injured so far.

The Daily Mail reports indicate that as people were celebrating Bastille Day in Nice, in Southern France, shots were fired and a lorry rammed into crowds as gunshots rang out in the street, targeting hotels and cafes. Residents have been told to lock themselves indoors and an RAID anti-terror squad has been deployed in the city.

The Guardian is providing live updates to their coverage. The Mirror has horrifying footage of the moment the truck plowed through the crowd.

The 12:08 Update at The Telegraph states the The president of the Nice region, Eric Ciotti, is on the scene and calls it a " scene of horror."

According to the latest Guardian update, they are saying the truck that ran into the people celebrating was "loaded with arms and grenades." The Telegraph is reporting that according to unconfirmed reports in the French media, ISIS is claiming responsibility for the attack.

Via The Daily Mail:

One witness called Antoine said: 'We were at the Neptune beach and a firework display had just finished. That is when we saw a white lorry. It was going quickly at 60-70 kilometres an hour.'

The gunman jumped out of the truck after ploughing through the pedestrians and began opening fire, witnesses said. Officials said the driver was shot dead near the scene. A second suspect is thought to be on the run.

Eyewitness Wassim Bouhlel said that he saw a truck drive into the crowd and then witnessed the man emerge with a gun and start shooting.

'There was carnage on the road,' Bouhlel said. 'Bodies everywhere.'

[UPDATE] Vocativ reports the full ISIS statement:

"Oh France, you and the all Europe will never be secure until we will live secure on every inch in the land of the Caliphate," wrote one ISIS supporter whose Twitter account has since been suspended. "This is the beginning of the attack to take the holy revenge for the killing of Abu Omar Shishani, may Allah accept him," a jihadi posted on the ISIS al-Minbar forum shortly after the attack.

More:

ISIS supporters have created a hashtag that translates to "#the attack on the name of Omar Shishani." Perhaps unsurprisingly, a top U.S. official tells The Daily Beast that ISIS is already a top suspect in the attack.

[UPDATE] Via The Guardian, (21:50 update) at least the French President, Francois Hollande ,  doesn't have the same problem as Barack Obama does in regards to naming the enemy:

France is under attack again, multiple terrorist attacks are being reported with horrifying images He says: “France has been struck on the day of her national holiday... the symbol of liberty.”

"We show our solidarity towards the victims and their families.

All means are being deployed to help the wounded.

France as a whole is under the threat of Islamic terrorism. We have to demonstrate absolute vigilance and show determination that is unfailing.

I have decided that the state of emergency which was supposed to end on July 26 will be extended by three months."

He said the government had called up operational reserves to help support gendarme and police forces to help, especially in controlling borders.

"Nothing will lead us to give in to our will to fight against terrorism. We are going to strengthen our efforts in Syria and Iraq agains t those who are attacking us on our very soil."

Hollande said he would go to Nice on Friday to support the city.

"France is horrified by what has taken place, this monstrosity of using a lorry to deliberately kill dozens of people who had come to celebrate 14 July.

France is afflicted but I assure you she is strong and she will always be stronger than the fanatics that want to strike her today."
