It should come as no surprise whatsoever that Democrat politicians are suffering from "Impeachment Fever," considering the first calls from them to impeach President Trump came before he was even inaugurated. While we have seen establishment media declare the "beginning of the end," and "turning point" that will lead to his resignation or impeachment, and a long list of "bombshells" the media assured their followers would be the end of his presidency, over the past three years, Donald Trump continues to hold the office of presidency.
Below is a compilation, with dates, of how many "bombshells" were considered to be the "beginning of the end" for President Trump, and the "turning point," in 2017 and 2018.
The United States Constitution provides that the House of Representatives "shall have the sole Power of Impeachment" (Article I, section 2) and that "the Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments .... [but] no person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two-thirds of the Members present" (Article I, section 3). The president, vice president, and all civil officers of the United States are subject to impeachment.
With the Senate controlled by the Republicans, there is no way for Democrats to get the two-thirds required to convict, which is an important fact that Democrats and the media prefer downplay or not even tell their supporters, because facts are unpopular with the impeachment crowd, and they just can't bring themselves to burst their fans' bubbles to inform them that Donald Trump will be President until the the next Presidential election, and if he wins reelection, for another four years afterwards.
It always starts the same way. Some "deep state" holdover goes to a major liberal news outlet and gives them a "bombshell," then the media starts reporting that "This is the beginning of the end" for President Trump, and that we have "reached a turning point." Then Democrats start screaming "impeach impeach the president!" Then more information is released and we find the initial story neglected some very important information, but Democrats ignore the new information to hold internal discussions about impeachment. Finally, when all is said and done, the bombshell ends up being debunked, Democrats and the Media have egg on their face and BOOM, a new bombshell is reported.
Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
In this case, it is all about a phone call that President Trump had with the new Ukranian President, and a "whistleblower," claimed the President "pressured" him to dig up dirt on Joe Biden and his son's business dealings. Later it was found out that despite the IG reporting the complaint to Congress, that "whistleblower" was not part of the phone call and hadn't even seen the transcript and was reporting hearsay.
Now that the transcript of that call has been released, embedded below, we see that once again, the entire thing ends up being a huge YAWN, for anyone other than liberals so full of Trump Derangement Syndrome because nearly three years later they still can't accept that he won the 2016 Presidential election.
Speaker of the House, the head of the Democrat party seems to be between a rock and a hard place. As shown below in a chart of the average support for impeachment from January 2017 until September 24, 2019, Nancy Pelosi knows impeachment is not supported by the majority of Americans, and is mostly popular with just the radically liberal fringe of the party, which they need in 2020 if they have any hopes of keeping control of the House of Representatives.
Her problem is, the American public has no appetite for impeachment proceedings and are suffering their own form of "outrage fatigue," where Democrats and the media attempt to incite outrage over every tweet the President posts, every word he says, every judge he nominates that gets confirmed (150 so far!), and every action his administration takes.
With even opinion writers at the Washington Post highlighting how Democrats have publicly and openly tried to "pressure" Ukraine for information against President Trump, yet are howling about Trump talking to them about Joe Biden and his son's questionable dealings regarding Ukraine, while Biden was Vice President, calling it a "double standard," Pelosi's caving to the impeachment fever crowd, is already costing Democrats political capital.
So, what would cause Pelosi, who has a reputation for being a political animal, to go against the majority of the public, and bow down to the impeachment fever crowd?
In that same focus group, six out of the nine swing voters said they would vote for Donald Trump if the elections were to be held tomorrow.
How do we know that Pelosi considered all of that in her calculations when determining whether put the House Democrats firmly on the side of an unpopular impeachment "inquiry," meaning investigations as to whether to hold an impeachment vote in the House?
She made the mistake of answering that during her news conference, stating that "More serious, is that he can't win. That is very serious to our country, to us as America......"
She is admitting that she made the political calculation that impeachment is the only way to prevent the reelection of President Trump.
BOTTOM LINE
The bottom line here is easy. Democrats are terrified that President Trump will win reelection because everything they have tried to date has not worked to bring down the Trump presidency.
Labeling him a racist didn't work. Calling him an Islamophobe didn't stick. Attacking him and his supporters by calling them and him everything from Nazis, to fascists, to white supremacists, didn't work. The two year Russian collusion witch hunt failed spectacularly when Robert Mueller's report failed to establish any conspiring or coordination between the Trump campaign and Russia.
This latest gambit with undoubtedly end the same as all the others the radically liberal Democrat party has tried over the course of the last few years.
