There Is No Comparison: Charlie Kirk No Longer Has ANY Free Speech Because They Killed Him - If Jimmy Kimmel Live Was Permanently Dumped Right Now, He Would Still Have A Voice
Watching the left attempt to equate the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel Live, which is back on ABC already after Disney lifted the suspension, with the assassination of Charlie Kirk, a true free speech advocate that went to the lion's den of liberalism, college campuses, to debate those that disagreed with him, has been an eye opener for moderates across the country.
By now, after the September 10, 2025 assassination at Utah Valley University, anyone reading this should already know who Charlie Kirk is. The fact that Kirk encouraged those that disagree with him go to the front of the line to speak with him and debate ideas and ideology, makes it evident that murdering him, in broad daylight, publicly, was a true attack on free speech.
With that said, let us turn to Jimmy Kimmel, a so-called comedian, using the airwaves of ABC which has to have a broadcasting license, to get up on stage and deliberately lie about the Charlie Kirk's assassin, to his dwindling audience.
THE CONTROVERSY.......
Kimmel's exact comments that cause him to be taken off the air for roughly one week, so we are not accused of "spin" or putting our own interpretation on the comments, were "The MAGA Gang (is) desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it. In between the finger-pointing, there was grieving.”
After that show where Kimmel attempted to claim that the Charlie Kirk assassin was part of the far-right, Sinclair Broadcasting and Nexstar, both ABC affiliate stations, decided to preempt Jimmy Kimmel Live on their stations, which between the two groups equaled 66 television stations. The backlash forced Disney to take Jimmy Kimmel Live off air until tensions calmed over his comments.
The media, Democrat politicians, and liberals all across the internet screamed that Kimmel's suspension was an "attack" of free speech, many of which at the same time celebrated, attempted to justify, or simply badmouthed the recently assassinated Charlie Kirk.
Murdering someone for their free speech is a true attack on free speech, while suspending a late night host for one week, for lying to his audience on ABC, about that assassination, seems to be nothing more than a light tap on the wrist. Kimmel's suspension, especially in comparison to a brutal murder of Kirk, was nothing more than a business decision.
KIMMEL'S "FREE SPEECH" STANCE VS CHARLIE KIRK'S.....
As the graph above shows, Kimmel's ratings have been sinking since 2014, but we have also seen some other data that is indicative of Kimmel's stance on "free speech."
A recent study by the Media Research Center, found that in the last four years, Kimmel has had one conservative guest on his show.
The study noted that the only prominent conservative on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in recent years was MyPillow CEO and Trump ally Mike Lindell, according to research conducted by the conservative NewsBusters organization.

• 92 percent of the jokes Kimmel made on his show since January 2023 were at the expense of conservatives, and 97 percent of his political guests were left-leaning.
• NewsBusters also found that out of 7,797 political jokes that Kimmel made over 369 episodes, 7,189 were about right-leaning people or topics.
• The study claimed that only 565 of his jokes targeted those on the left, which equates to about seven percent.
So, Kimmel is left-leaning, and he is entitled to his politics, and ideology, but the numbers are clear that he rarely wanted to "engage" with anyone that doesn't agree with his ideology.
In comparison, Kirk always wanted to engage with people that disagreed with him, and always in a civil manner. As mentioned above, those that disagreed with Kirk were always given the opportunity to go to the front of the line, so he could actively debate other opinions and ideas, than his own.
Both Nexstar and Sinclair refused to air Jimmy Kimmel's return show on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, continuing to preempt his show with news programming.
Nexstar: "We made a decision last week to preempt ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ following what ABC referred to as Mr. Kimmel’s ‘ill-timed and insensitive’ comments at a critical time in our national discourse. We stand by that decision pending assurance that all parties are committed to fostering an environment of respectful, constructive dialogue in the markets we serve."
Sinclair: "Beginning Tuesday night, Sinclair will be preempting ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!‘ across our ABC affiliate stations and replacing it with news programming."
To understand the damage to the ratings for Disney, on Kimmel's time slot, one has to know that Sinclair has the nation’s largest number of the ABC network’s affiliate stations at nearly 40 stations.
While both Sinclair and Nexstar may eventually begin airing Jimmy Kimmel live again after discussions with Disney, the damage to the ratings of his show is incalculable as of yet without the near 70 stations airing his show in the meantime.
NorthJersey.com reports that "Nexstar and Sinclair's refusal to air "Kimmel" hits about 25% of ABC's reach in homes across the country, with ownership or operation of roughly 70 ABC stations."
Disney also has another problem. The need regulatory approval "for a deal in which the NFL would acquire 10% of the company’s ESPN in exchange for NFL Media assets," which they may not receive if Jimmy Kimmel Live continues to be aired.
If Disney is forced to chose between a the multi-million dollar money pit that is Jimmy Kimmel, and the NFL which could bring them billions, the choice would be clear.
The monetary and ratings loss Disney will be taking in just the next week alone without both Nexstar and Sinclair airing Kimmel, may make the decision to dump Kimmel much easier in the next couple of months.
BOTTOM LINE.....
Is that an attack against Kimmel's "free speech," or a wise business decision? I would argue the latter.
Did Kimmel's suspension equal an actual attack on "free speech?" I would argue no.
If Kimmel's show was dumped permanently today, which it isn't, but if it was, Kimmel would still have a voice, would still be able to get another job, speak on social media, start a podcast, or otherwise use his free speech.
Charlie Kirk no longer has ANY free speech.
There is no comparison and the fact that liberals, including the MSM, tried to equate the two, shows just how desperate they are.
