We at ANP have tried to keep readers updated on the latest news about the Coronavirus that seems to be spreading across the globe and now has cases confirmed in 24 countries, along with China where the virus is believed to have begun.
"The latest data we have is that there are 20,471 confirmed cases in #China, including 425 deaths. Outside #China there are 176 cases in 24 countries, and one death, in the Philippines."
Those numbers mean nothing for a variety of reasons, including the secrecy and lack of transparency from China, but also because of something very disturbing that was revealed during a press briefing with WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, where he pointed out that "Wealthier countries were criticized for not sharing data about virus cases. The WHO has only received complete information about 38% of the cases reported outside of China."
This means the actual numbers should be taken with a grain of salt, but the official numbers from the CDC, which is usually a couple days behind the recent news reports, shows 11 confirmed cases in the U.S., 76 tests pending and 206 have been declared negative. The number of states considered PUI (Pending Under Investigation) in the U.S. is listed as 36 states or territories.
We have listed as many preparation items as we could think of that Americans should consider, from wipes to who body suits and masks, and links to that can be found here and all around preparations, linked here.
CHINA TEACHES US HOW NOT TO HANDLE A POTENTIAL PANDEMIC
Rather than focus on links to items that can help protect against viruses and sickness, because there are links above for that, I would like to highlight a couple of others points.
Specifically, examples we are seeing from China and how the government is handling this issue as an idea of the type of actions taken when a government panics, how fast things can get out of control creating what is tantamount to a death sentence for those unprepared, and how quickly supplies disappear when people start panic shopping at the last minute.
• We'll start with the supply issue because the evidence is seen every single time there is a major weather event, so it is the quickest bullet point to prove.
Within hours, people panic shopping empty store shelves, leaving nothing worthwhile for other shoppers and the stores themselves unable to resupply and meet demand.
Remember: If you are prepared there is never a need to panic.
• How Governments Respond: China, while not typical of a democratic government, is the latest example of how a virus like Coronavirus is handled within the country, and the perfect example of how easily the virus can jump containment and spread globally.
We are seeing videos of multiple Chinese citizens literally forced into the back of vans, terrified and fighting. Twitter has one of those with a statements saying " I see more and more videos of people refusing to be quarantined due to #coronavirus. They’re definitely terrified of something, other than virus itself."
Videos on YouTube with messages, "help us," attempting to explain what is really happening in China.
Make no mistake, that is a death sentence for those not prepared to survive without the ability to go to the store.
People dragged off buses because they are not wearing masks.
People lying dead on the sidewalks.
Just search YouTube or any video platform for Coronavirus over the past week and page after page will come up.
In Hong Kong, news reports show that the government has unveiled electronic tags for people under Wuhan quarantine for Coronavirus.
It was also recently revealed that a doctor that had warned of Coronavirus was detained by Chinese authorities and then infected. A Chinese court blamed the fast spread on China's lack of transparency and officials detaining people rather than warning them to take protective measures.
"If society had at the time believed those 'rumors,' and wore masks, used disinfectant and avoided going to the wildlife market as if there were a SARS outbreak, perhaps it would've meant we could better control the coronavirus today," the court said. "Rumors end when there is openness." Li, an ophthalmologist at Wuhan Central Hospital, had shared his concerns the same day that Chinese authorities confirmed they were investigating 27 cases of viral pneumonia.
Officials at the epicenter in Wuhan - the capital of Hubei province, where millions are now trapped in an unprecedented lockdown - sent an "urgent notice" to all hospitals about the existence of "pneumonia of unclear cause."
That has got to be, in my opinion, the most important lesson of all. Authorities tend to hide information until preventing the spread of a virus like this Coronavirus becomes almost impossible, all in the name of preventing a panic.
PANDEMIC PANIC HITS NEW YORK
In the meantime, we are seeing signs that some in the U.S.,where the spread has not reached the levels seen in China, already becoming violent and losing their minds.
Video below: Asian woman in a New York subway, wearing a face mask, was attacked by a man calling her a "diseased b*tch."
BOTTOM LINE
Let me repeat, there is no need to panic if you are prepared to protect yourself and have the ability to hunker down in your home to wait any pandemic out.
We asked this before and we will again... if you found that your neighbor, or someone in your neighborhood had contracted this virus, could you survive with the supplies you have right now until the spread was under control, even if it took weeks or months?
If you answered no.....act accordingly.
