Why is it that liberals have a problem understanding that when they change the rules and/or laws to fit their agenda when they are in power, when the "other" party takes power, those same rule changes can be used against them?
BUYER'S REMORSE
Anyone remember in 2013, Harry Reid, who was then the Democratic Senate Majority Leader, decided to implement the "nuclear option," changing a historic rule by eliminating the use of filibusters by Republicans on all presidential nominees except those nominated for the Supreme Court? Reid was warned at the time by Republicans that the decision, the rule change, could come back and bite him in the butt at a later date when Republicans took control.
Jump forward to today when Republicans have won the majorities in the House, the Senate and the presidency, and now Democrats that helped Reid pass the rule change are claiming buyer's remorse, because now the Democrats cannot filibuster Donald Trump's nominees. Recently Democratic Senator Chris Coons was asked if he regrets the rule change from 2013, now that Donald Trump is the president and he responded "I do regret that. I frankly think many of us will regret that in this Congress because it would have been a terrific speed bump, potential emergency brake, to have in our system to slow down the confirmation of extreme nominees..."
OBAMA JUST HANDED TRUMP THE TOOLS TO DECLARE THE MSM AS 'FAKE NEWS'
Since the election, Barack Obama, Democrats across the board, liberals and the mainstream media have been pushing "propaganda at the American people with claims that "fake news" was spreading Russian Propaganda" (the leaked emails from the DNC/Clinton campaign) and it influenced the election.
On the Friday before Christmas, Barack Obama signed the NDAA into law and hidden within bill, was the "Countering Disinformation and Propaganda Act.," also called "Countering Information Warfare Act of 2016 (S. 2692)."
NOTE: The bipartisan Countering Disinformation and Propaganda Act is organized around two main priorities to help achieve the goal of combatting the constantly evolving threat of foreign disinformation from our enemies:
The first priority is developing a whole-of-government strategy for countering THE foreign propaganda and disinformation being wages against us and our allies by our enemies. The bill would increase the authority, resources, and mandate of the Global Engagement Center to include state actors like Russia and China as well as non-state actors. The Center will be led by the State Department, but with the active senior level participation of the Department of Defense, USAID, the Broadcasting Board of Governors, the Intelligence Community, and other relevant agencies. The Center will develop, integrate, and synchronize whole-of-government initiatives to expose and counter foreign disinformation operations by our enemies and proactively advance fact-based narratives that support U.S. allies and interests.
Second, the legislation seeks to leverage expertise from outside government to create more adaptive and responsive U.S. strategy options. The legislation establishes a fund to help train local journalists and provide grants and contracts to NGOs, civil society organizations, think tanks, private sector companies, media organizations, and other experts outside the U.S. government with experience in identifying and analyzing the latest trends in foreign government disinformation techniques. This fund will complement and support the Center’s role by integrating capabilities and expertise available outside the U.S. government into the strategy-making process. It will also empower a decentralized network of private sector experts and integrate their expertise into the strategy-making process.
Back on December 23, 2016, we reminded readers that in 2013, the U.S. had repealed the "anti-propaganda" law, which prior to its repeal prevented the U.S. government from using their propaganda machine against the American people, so now with this last law being signed into law, not only has money been allotted to countering so-called propaganda in other countries, but they can also now legally lie to the American people using their MSM propaganda arm.
Since the election Barack Obama has used his repeal of the anti-propaganda law against Conservative Independent journalists, via the MSM, attacking them as "fake news", spreading "Russian Propaganda," with countless headlines attacking Independent Media, all leading to the creation of the new de-facto "U.S. Ministry of Truth."
But wait................................
As of January 20, 2017, Donald Trump who will be the president, will be in total control of the new "U.S. Ministry of Truth."
Yes, the same man that benefited from Independent Media fighting back against the lies of the MSM.
The same man that by all accounts hold the mainstream media in contempt for their "promoting" Hillary Clinton, while attacking him and his family and his supporters for the last year and a half.
The same man that the media is already whining about because he hasn't given them the access that President-Elects have done traditionally in the past.
The same man that called MSM high profile personalities together for a summit which one insider terms as a "f**king firing squad."
BOTTOM LINE
So the "Global Engagement Center," will be lead by the State Department, which is led by the Secretary of State that Trump will nominate. The Department of Defense, USAID, the Intelligence Community, and other relevant agencies, all controlled by Trump nominees, meaning ultimately by Trump himself, will participate.
Who do you think will be the targets of the new U.S. Ministry of Truth, which will be under the control of Donald Trump? Those that helped expose Hillary Clinton and the DNC and helped get Trump elected, or those that spent the last year and a half attacking Trump, his family and his supporters?
Note- The U.S. should not be feeding their citizens "propaganda," they should be telling them the truth. No one political side should be completely silenced, it should all be out there and the individual consumer should be encouraged to discern the truth.
With that said, considering the MSM antics we witnessed throughout the whole primary and presidential campaign season, perhaps Trump should label the MSM as "fake news," with the new tool Obama just gift-wrapped and handed him, in an attempt to destroy Independent Journalism.
The only way this works well for Obama, liberals, progressives, globalists, and the the mainstream media, is if Trump is not inaugurated for some reason.
