On August 3, 2025, the White House published the articleICYMI: Negative Net Migration for the First Time in at Least 50 Yearsrecognizing that more "migrants" are leaving our country (by choice or by force) than are entering for the first time in decades as evidenced in Harry Enten's CNN report highlighting the first 6 months of President Trump's 2nd term.[RELATED: ICE Applications SURGE Like Crazy After Passage Of Big Beautiful Bill Over 78,000 New Applicants!]

The US Coast Guard celebrated its 235th birthday August 4, 2025. The Coast Guard has a dual mission as both military (Title 10 USC) and law enforcement (Title 14 USC) both in domestic and international waters. Members of the Coast Guard protect our borders, safeguard undersea communications cables, protect commerce, and able to be deployed to any continent of this world. They also have a humanitarian mission, saving lives at sea and in US waters. They were called to Texas during the floods last month, saving hundreds of lives.

When the Coast Guard was founded, it operated within the Department of Treasury as the US Revenue Cutter Service and the US Life-Saving Service. On January 28, 1915, these 2 services were combined into the US Coast Guard. In 1967, it was transferred to the Department of Transportation. When the Homeland Security Act was signed by President George W Bush on 25 November 2002, it was transferred to DHS (although the administrative control did not officially transfer until March 1, 2003). In 1939, the US Lighthouse Service was merged into the US Coast Guard. In peacetime, the US Coast Guard is housed in DHS. In times of war, it can be transferred in whole or part to the Navy (DOD) by either the President or by Congress. During WWI, Congress transferred it to the Navy in 1917. President Franklin Roosevelt transferred it to the Navy by the time we entered WWII.

The mission of the Coast Guard include Search & Rescue; Manning a National Response Center as the sole point of contact for oil, chemical, radiological, biological, and etiological spills & discharges; Manning the National Maritime Center under DHS; ICE operations, including the International ICE Patrol; fisheries law enforcement, Marine environmental protection, marine safety, aids to navigation; and homeland security missions such as defense readiness, maritime law enforcement, migrant interdiction, ports, waterways, and coastal security, and drug interdiction.

On August 4, 2025, the White House published aPresidential Message on the 235th Birthday of the United States Coast Guardin which he states:

As President, I am steadfastly committed to ensuring that every Coast Guardsman has the support, resources, and capabilities they need to maintain their hard-won dominance, prestige, and respect for future generations. Through Force Design 2028historic funding delivered in the One Big Beautiful Billmy Administration is empowering the Coast Guard to accomplish its mission better, stronger, and more efficiently than ever before. As a result, military recruitment levels are skyrocketing, and the Coast Guard is now on pace to exceed recruitment expectations by 110 percent, a stark contrast to their recruitment shortages under the previous administration.

As we commemorate the 235th birthday of the United States Coast Guard, we honor the brave patriots who defend our shoresand we remain eternally indebted to their unwavering dedication to preserving American excellence.

This National Shooting Sports Month, my Administration honors these cherished American traditionsand we pledge to keep them alive and flourishing for generations to come.

Since the ratification of the Second Amendment in 1791, shooting sports have instilled the values of focus, discipline, and confidence in our citizensconnecting generations, binding together communities, and reminding us of the freedoms that define our Republic. Sports like hunting and fishing also provide a glimpse into the beauties of Gods creation and allow countless Americans to experience the splendors of the great outdoors. For as long as I am President, the Federal Government will abide by the premise that the God-given right to bear arms shall not be infringed.

This National Shooting Sports Month, we honor the generations of sportsmen who have carried forward our traditions of marksmanship, responsibility, outdoorsmanship, and freedom. On August 4, 2025, the White House published the articleICYMI: For The First Time In 40 Years, The Federal Government Can Judge Applicants By Meritciting an article in the Daily Wireexplaining how a 1981 lawsuit argued that the civil service test was racially biased. OPM agreed to pause the test for 5 years. It is now 2025 and the test is still paused . . . until . . . the Trump Administration filed a brief to challenge the agreement. With SCOTUS having recently outlawed affirmative action, the pause was no longer relevant. The original plaintiff agreed to the termination of the pause. This means that government can now use objective measurements to determine the MERIT of a candidate rather than which check box quotas the candidate meets.

Remember the goal is to create the "best AI" and the hardware to go with it and then offer the package (software and hardware) around the globe. One cannot help but be reminded of SKYNET (also discussed in my May 25, 2025 ANP Article).

It is not forged in comfort, but in trial.
It is not kept by ease, but by resolve.

Today's Patriot, Richard Stockton, was born October 1, 1730 on family land known as "Morven" near Princeton, New Jersey. He was oldest of 10 children. He attended Nottingham Academy in Cecil County, MD. He was in the first graduating class of the College of New Jersey (now Princeton University) in 1748 where he studied law. His family donated money and land to Princeton in 1752. He was admitted to the bar in 1754. His law practice became one of the largest in the colonies.

Richard married Annis Boudinoton April 21, 1752 in British Colonial America. They had 6 children (4 girls and 2 boys). It was Annis who named the family home "Morven." She was theone of the first female poetspublished in America.

About 1774, during the Stamp Act controversy, Richard spent 15 months in England, Scotland, and Ireland. He gave a speech about the hated, now repealed, Stamp Act to King George III. During these travels, he had to fight off a thief on his way to his ship. He used his "small sword" to fight off the attacker and survived the attack. However, he missed the departure of his ship to Ireland. Fortunately for him, this would be his 2nd escape from death as the ship sank in a storm on the way to Ireland drowning everyone aboard.

In 1768 Richard returned to New Jersey and served on the Governor's Council. By 1774, he was a judge on the Supreme Court. In 1776, after failing to maintain allegiance to the Crown, he resigned from the council. In June 1776, he was elected to the Continental Congress.

Shortly after signing the Declaration of Independence, the British invaded New Jersey one November, so he moved his family away from Morven while he stayed there. Loyalists captured him in the middle of the night in his night clothes. He was jailed in Perth Amboy at first, then transferred to Provost Prison, New York where he was put in irons, starved, and freezing (still in his night clothes). General Howe finally gave him a parole after 1 month on theconditionhe not support the war effort. He returned to Morven finding the British had pillaged and plundered and then burnt what was left.

After losing everything, Richard returned to his law practice. He also taught students.Richard's health declined over the next five years, becoming serious starting about 2 years after his imprisonment with lip cancer that metastasized into throat cancer. Richard died at home on February 28, 1781 at age 51. He is interred at the Stony Brook Quaker Cemetery in Princeton with his ancestors.

Richard's estate, Morven, is now a museum and garden. It is open to the public with paid admission. Richard is shown on the 13 cent stamp published in 1976.A marble statue of Richard was donated by the state of New Jersey to be displayed at the National Statuary Hall Collection in DC (one of only 6 signers honored in this manner). Stockton University is named after him.
