Federal Judge Rejects Biden Regime's Attempt To Dismiss Censorship Lawsuit, Orders Expedited Discovery, And Newly Released Internal Emails Expose Extreme Level Of Coercion By Biden Flunkies Against Social Media Companies
As many Independent Media readers already know, there are companies that the Biden regime is using to censor conservative media, under the guise of "misinformation" and "disinformation." One of which, NewsGuard was started during the Trump presidency by Steven Brill, "a long time Democrat activist and donor who has backed candidates such as Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama." In 2021, the Pentagon, under the leadership of the Biden regime, awarded NewsGuard $750,000.
Quick refresher: Previously we have shown how an advertising group, GumGum, which places ads within images, informed ANP that "GumGum utilizes NewsGuard to verify brand safety and your site is under the minimum threshold we accept. ."
In July 2023, a Federal Judge in Louisiana responded to a lawsuit brought by attorneys general in Louisiana and Missouri, by blocking the Biden regime from directly communicating with social media companies in order to get them to censor information that contradicted the regime/media narrative, regarding healthcare during the pandemic, and other issues.
U.S. District Judge Terry Doughty of Louisiana granted the injunction in response to a 2022 lawsuit brought by attorneys general in Louisiana and Missouri. Their lawsuit alleged that the federal government overstepped in its efforts to convince social media companies to address postings that could result in vaccine hesitancy during the COVID-19 pandemic or affect elections.
Doughty cited “substantial evidence” of a far-reaching censorship campaign. He wrote that the “evidence produced thus far depicts an almost dystopian scenario. During the COVID-19 pandemic, a period perhaps best characterized by widespread doubt and uncertainty, the United States Government seems to have assumed a role similar to an Orwellian ‘Ministry of Truth.’ ”
So we have two separate methods the Biden regime is using to stop the free flow of information on a number of topics, whether it is vaccine injury and death news, the Wuhan lab leak information, or the calling out the climate change hoaxes and 50 years of failed doomsday predictions. One by pressuring social media to remove content the regime doesn't want out there, and the other by funding groups that are blacklisting conservatives websites, trying to bankrupt them.
We now have news on both fronts.
A lawsuit brought by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, The Daily Wire, and The Federalist, against the Biden regime, for using taxpayer funds meant to counter foreign propaganda to censor American independent news websites, is being allowed to go forward after the Biden regime failed to convince the judge to dismiss the case, with the judge also rejecting the Biden regime's attempt to have the moved to another venue.

FEDERAL JUDGE REJECTS WH ATTEMPT TO DISMISS CENSORSHIP CASE...
The complaint argued that the State Department uses its Global Engagement Center to finance the development and promotion of left-wing media monitoring organizations, including NewsGuard and the UK-based Global Disinformation Index, in "one of the most egregious government operations to censor the American press in the history of the nation."
The judge has also ordered expedited discovery.
Margot Cleveland, an attorney at the New Civil Liberties Alliance, which is representing Daily Wire and the Federalist, was pleased to see the judge opened his opinion by quoting the First Amendment.
Paxton’s office called Kernodle's ruling an "important victory" in its lawsuit against the Biden administration's "conspiracy to censor, deplatform, and demonetize media outlets disfavored by the federal government."
"The Biden administration made a reprehensible attempt to censor the American press with funding intended to monitor foreign propaganda, aiming to repress viewpoints the federal government disagreed with," Paxton said in a statement.
• The Media Research Center in two annual studies found NewsGuard ratings were significantly biased against conservative media outlets in favor of more liberal ones.
• The NewsGuard ratings. in turn, are used by major advertising agencies to effectively block conservative media from receiving advertising. Their ratings effectively works to demonetize conservative media.
While the suit is from AG Paxton, and specifically The Daily Wire and The Federalist, a win in this case for them, will be a win for every conservative news outlet. In the National Defense bill that passed last December, there was language that blocks the Pentagon from awarding any money to services such as NewsGuard and GDI.
Next up: A "damning" House committee report that provides detailed information, and further proof of the Biden regimes use of coercion of social media companies, which could very well reignite the lawsuits against the White House.
SOCIAL MEDIA/WHITE HOUSE INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS.....
A House Judiciary investigation that began last year, with information obtained by subpoena, from tech giants like Google-parent Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Meta and Microsoft, provided an in-depth look into how the "Executive Branch coerced and colluded with companies and other intermediaries to censor speech."
The House report is 881 pages long, titled "The Censorship-industrial Complex: How Top Biden White House Officials Coerced Big Tech to Censor Americans, True Information, and Critics of the Biden Administration," includes examples of pressure from the Biden regime to censor information in regards to Covid-19.
"Now, having obtained and reviewed tens of thousands of emails and other relevant nonpublic documents, the Committee and Select Subcommittee can provide a more complete picture of how and the extent to which the Biden White House coerced companies to suppress free speech," the report noted.
Big Tech altered their content-moderation policies in 2021, the report said. Facebook, YouTube and Amazon all adjusted their policies to censor information ranging from COVID-19 "misinformation" to what kinds of books were permissible on the Amazon Marketplace.
"Indeed, both Facebook and Amazon referred to the Biden White House’s efforts as 'pressure,'" the report said.
The report was released on May 1, 2024, but the liberal state media has been slow to report the damning details provided in the report.
This PDF document, covers the Facebook Files, YouTube Files, Amazon Files. On page #13, we see an actual email with the subject line "Covid Misinformation Wuhan Lab Leak Theory," sent to Mark Zuckerberg, described in the report in the following manner:
• In Facebook’s February 8, 2021, public statement announcing a change to its content moderation policies, the company noted that it would “remove” several new claims on its platforms, including claims that “COVID-19 is man-made.” That same day, Facebook emailed the Biden White House to alert it that Facebook would be “expanding [its] efforts to remove false claims on Facebook and Instagram about COVID-19, COVID-19 vaccines, and vaccines in general.”
• Facebook ultimately expanded its censorship of the lab leak theory from February to May 2021. Internal Facebook emails from late May and early June to top senior Facebook executives, including Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, explain why Facebook changed its policies in the early days of the Biden Administration to remove claims supporting the lab leak theory. Most notably, a June 6, 2021 email to Zuckerberg explained that Facebook made these changes in response to “tense conversations with the new [Biden] Administration.”
On June 6, Zuckerberg reversed the decision to remove content on the lab leak, Covid was man-made, information, "given the renewed debate on the topic," the "issue was no longer settled."
It never was settled, so the information should never have been removed to begin with, and while they stopped removing posts in regards to the lab leak "theory," they never reinstated the original posts, nor the accounts of those that were terminated from Facebook, All News PipeLine being one of them.
Not being able to advertise our articles on Facebook, along with NewsGuard's blacklisting our site by threatening advertisers' "brands" if they advertised with ANP, and finally the information in the House report showing collusion between the White House and Google, who disabled their ads on ANP because we "contradicted authoritative, scientific consensus," on Covid, the experimental vaccines, and climate change, has made surviving to provide the truth to readers, a challenge in and of itself.
