On May 16, 2025, ANP published anarticlein which I reviewed a video by Chase Hughes on identifying PYSOPs. Since the last 4 days have been singularly focused on the riots (with fake news calling it "mostly peaceful protests") going on in Los Angeles, California, I thought it might be a good time to review what Mr. Hughes presented about PSYOPs.
Before I begin, I would like to point out that just because something can be identified as a PSYOP, it does NOT mean that what is going on is fake or false. That said, let's start with Hughes' F-A-T-E Model using the events in LA.
FOCUS - PSYOPS hijack your attention with repetition, shocking visuals of fear, constant repetition of terms like "unprecedented" - ask yourself WHY is this message being pushed so aggressively - note disproportionate coverage time in the media
What is the focus? Simply put, Federal Law Enforcement is BAD. Illegal immigration is GOOD.
How has this hijacked your attention? A quick check of the comments in ANP articles posted over the last 4 days shows an unscientific approximately 80% of the posts are about the riots.
Why is this message being pushed? Probably to gather what's left of the anti-Trump people under one banner.
Is there disproportionate coverage in the media? Yes. At Townhall's main page 6 of the 7 highlighted articles were about immigration with 3 specifically about LA. In the "trending" section, out of 40 articles 34 were about immigration and 27 were specifically about LA. The WLT Report's main page of 84 articles 33 were about immigration and 22 of those were specifically about LA. I'm not even going to attempt to tally the fake news as I don't care to fill my brain with lies, fake news, and leftist nonsense.
AUTHORITY - trusted figures might shift their tone or positions unnaturally to support the narrative so watch very closely for expert panelists or endorsements where authority figures might speak outside of their expertise
Who are the authorities? On the anti-ICE side, it's California Governor Newsom, Mayor Bass, the Mexican President, and democrat politicians. On the pro-ICE side, it's President Trump, the Trump Administration (Cabinet Secretaries), and Tom Homan.
TRIBE - messages that polarize opinions or create stark ingroups versus out groups or exploit our tribal instincts
The polarization is you are either FOR illegal aliensor AGAINST illegal aliens. You are either FOR Law Enforcement or AGAINST Law Enforcement.
EMOTION - be wary of any communication that triggers strong emotions like fear hope or outrage without any clear verifiable evidence - emotional responses suppress critical thinking - look for facts being replaced by emotional appeals
Fear seems to be the dominant emotion. As you view the news, pictures and video clips show fires, insurgents throwing things striking Law Enforcement, people carrying the flags of other countries, people blocking major highways. One of the leading fear mongering statements is that US Citizens are being detained by ICE.
Beyond the F-A-T-E model, Hughes tells us to notice the following attributes of PSYOPS.
Novelty - sudden or unusual changes signal potential threats or opportunities to our brains - PSYOPS exploit this by creating events that break normal expectations like unexpected crises or dramatic revelations - look for patterns like sudden shifts in public opinion trending hashtag that are unusual or viral videos that seem very coincidental

Multiple Sources - "echo chambers" silence dissent and narrow perspectives - if all media outlets present identical talking points it is a humongous red flag
This one is easy. Just watch fake news. They are still on "threat to democracy" (even though we are a Constitutional Republic). We harken back to the "2020 summer of love" with cries of "mostly peaceful protests" being touted for this current riot in LA. And, of course, TDS reigns supreme!
Cognitive Dissonance - When new information clashes with our identity or our beliefs - micro agreements are little small seemingly harmless concessions to shape your identity and over time you're going to unconsciously align your behavior to reduce that internal conflict
"We are a nation of immigrants" - meaning if you disagree with immigration you disagree with the basic foundations of our country. "Democracy is next" to fall if you don't agree with the left.
Emotional Scripts - scripts that were written in our brains by our ancestors so manipulated narratives trigger instincts like the fear of loss or scarcity social rejection or danger - for example a media story about food shortages might activate survival scripts that cause panic buying - includes sudden warnings about limited resources like water or medicine - a politician says something like if we don't act now our children will not have a future this Taps into survival instincts those ancestor scripts in our head
"People's lives and families are being torn apart." The fake news is pushing narratives of "been here illegally 20+years has children, law-abiding, but lost the amnesty case and was immediately arrested to be deported." With the idea that they've been here so long, and created a life here, so they should be allowed to stay and given citizenship. Well, I liken that approach with the idea of squatters. Many states have laws allowing an illegal squatter to LIVE IN YOUR HOME and you have to keep the lights on and water running in the home the squatter has appropriated from you while you take 6-12 months to get the squatter evicted! We, as a country, need to evict the illegal alien squatters!
Follow The Money - identifying who benefits always is going to reveal the motive - look for funding sources like sponsorships or political connections that are tied to the narrative - use tools like opensecrets.org or public financial records to see who profits
Calls for the answer to "Who is funding this?" started to arise after a video clip was shown of a person in a black pickup truck distributing $60 helmet/masks to rioters. It is noted that there are now 204 businesses partnering with the No Kings organization to provide assistance in their organization efforts to organize a nation-wide riot because President Trump's administration is focusing on ILLEGAL ALIENS, rounding them up to deport them from our country for flagrant violation of our Immigration Law. The one place they won't be rioting on June 14, 2025 is Washington DC because that's where the US Military will be. It is my fervent hope that the DOJ is looking into these 204 "partners" as well as the 'No Kings' organization itself.
Analyze the Context - context defines what is permissible - manipulative people shift contexts to normalize extreme behavior - look for contradictions - in emergencies people accept surveillance or martial law that they normally would completely resist
For an example of this, just watch Mayor Bass explain that "graffiti and looting" are not acceptable ways to protest (but throwing bricks, frozen water, sticks, and whatever else they can get their hands on against Law Enforcement and setting fire to cars is ok?). I think the looters figured out the police were dealing with the protesters leaving the rest of the city open for looting (much like when NYC sent their police underground to police metro so crime above ground increased).
Use Archetypes - like heroes and villains and saviors - portraying one leader as the sole solution or demonizing dissenters as the enemy - ask yourself who are the characters and what roles are they playing - simplistic stories like good versus evil usually signal manipulation
We see this playing out in the media and the courts between President Trump and Governor Newsom. By the way, Governor Newsom's demand that the National Guard Troops be removed was denied by the courts. Another example is the chosen name: "No Kings" for the organization that is organizing a nation-wide insurrection.
It is important to remember that just because it's a PSYOP that does NOT mean it's not real. Get ready for massive protests on June 14 everywhere - EXCEPT DC because the Military will be there in force.
