Facial Recognition At US Ports Of Entry, Partial Shutdown Consequences, No More Bills Signed Until SAVE Act Passes, Proclamations, EOs, Presidential Actions
It's amazing the number of things that occurred world-wide during my 18-day vacation! Kristi Noem is being replaced as Secretary of DHS (some think to appease Democrats so they'll approve the DHS budget). Democrats continue with their partial government shutdown in order to protect illegal aliens. Democrats refuse to pass the SAVE Act to protect their illegal alien voters. Air travel just became more time consuming with fewer people working at TSA and those who are working aren't getting paid - again! President Trump is invoking his Constitutional Right to not sign bills Congress sends to him (holding them hostage until the SAVE Act is passed). And so much more! Oh my!
I'm glad I drove to California to meet the cruise ship instead of flying (even though gas prices in/around Los Angeles California were around $5.88 as of Sunday):
This is not because of the happenings in and around Iran. It is happening because of the Democrats who want DHS defunded and the deportation of those in our country illegally to stop, so they have refused to fund DHS. We are not hearing much on this "partial" shutdown, mostly because it only affects about 100,000 government workers; however, those people directly affect our National Security, as we are now seeing the results of this partial shutdown at airports. So, the Democrats have, in effect, put our National Security at risk becoming what I consider to be the "treasonous enemy within" our country and those Democrats voting for this "partial" shutdown should now be considered direct enemies of our Nation.
ICE needs to be present at every polling place! ONLY US Citizens should be voting in US elections - of any kind from local to county to state to federal elections. Citizens should show proof of citizenship to vote. Non-citizens who vote should be considered as foreign actors interfering in US elections and prosecuted as such. The presence of ICE anywhere ONLY affects those in our country illegally. Anyone who is a citizen or who is here legally has nothing to fear from ICE.
Locations of TSA AI-augmented Facial Recognition Sites
One thing "AI" (aka advanced photo matching) is doing for Immigration & Customs is allowing US Citizens to 'breeze' through customs by virtue of facial recognition (aka biometrics). These enhanced processing centers can be found at airports, land border ports of entry, and seaports (click the links to see which ports of entry are using biometrics). All without your permission, acceptance, or choice to show your actual passport instead of participating in the facial recognition. You either go through facial recognition or you are not allowed back into the country? I don't know, I did not push the issue, nor did any of the other people getting off the ship at the same time as I did. The individual walks up to a tablet that is recording their approach, the individual stops briefly while the program matches their face to their passport picture on file with the US Passport office. This takes less than 1 second and the screen displays "verified" and the individual then simply walks through the check point. I suppose if the screen did not display "verified" agents would approach and escort you to some office somewhere.
In my case, there were 4 lanes open for US Citizens and a line never had a chance to form, even with the thousands of passengers being processed off the ship and back to the US in a short time frame. I am guessing that the cruise line provided a list of their US passengers to Immigration so Immigration could pull the records of those passengers making the verification process much more efficient since they already know who would be returning to the states and the system only needed to check the smaller subset of the Citizenry database. Not one person refused to walk past the facial recognition checkpoint while I was there.
Perhaps these citizenship verification stations could be set up around polling places? Between the US Passport registry and each state's "real ID" requirements, a quick database of images should be able to be constructed making the matching process of the live individual to their database image quick and easy.
This National Security situation will get worse before it gets better because it's only the funding of DHS that is keeping this small portion of the government closed and Democrats can 'afford' to delay any votes on DHS funding indefinitely. However, with spring break upon us, and travelers flocking to the airports, many, I hope, will remember this debacle is the fault of the Democrats who are refusing to fund DHS. And, if they persist into summer, when families tend to take vacations, there will be a lot of unhappy campers standing in long, long lines at the airports! While the Propaganda media is not covering the harm that is being caused by the Democrats actions in this matter (as usual) many, many people will experience first hand what the Democrats are doing. I hope people remember this come November.
As you can see from the above March 8, 2026 TruthSocial post by President Trump, he has decided to use his "veto" powers to force Congress to address the SAVE Act (first discussed in my February 3, 2026 ANP Article and again in my February 2, 2026 ANP Article). The President has the power to sign or not sign bills presented to him which were passed by Congress as written in the US Constitution, Article I, Section 7, Clause 2 (discussed in my October 2, 2025 ANP Article):
Every Bill which shall have passed the House of Representatives and the Senate, shall, before it become a Law, be presented to the President of the United States; If he approve he shall sign it, but if not he shall return it, with his Objections to that House in which it shall have originated, who shall enter the Objections at large on their Journal, and proceed to reconsider it. If after such Reconsideration two thirds of that House shall agree to pass the Bill, it shall be sent, together with the Objections, to the other House, by which it shall likewise be reconsidered, and if approved by two thirds of that House, it shall become a Law. But in all such Cases the Votes of both Houses shall be determined by yeas and Nays, and the Names of the Persons voting for and against the Bill shall be entered on the Journal of each House respectively. If any Bill shall not be returned by the President within ten Days (Sundays excepted) after it shall have been presented to him, the Same shall be a Law, in like Manner as if he had signed it, unless the Congress by their Adjournment prevent its Return, in which Case it shall not be a Law.
It works like this:
Congress passes a bill with a "majority" (not necessarily 2/3) of each house of the Congress agreeing the bill should become a law.
Congress sends the bill to the President for signature.
The President either signs it or he does not.
If he signs it, the bill becomes law.
If he does not sign it there are two things that can happen:
He hangs on to the bill until the 10 days (not counting Sundays) he is given by the US Constitution passes in which case the bill becomes law without his signature, or
He returns the bill to Congress with his objections for reconsideration.
At this point, the Senate & the House must individually reconsider the bill, vote on it, have those votes recorded - by name, and pass the bill again; but this time with a 2/3 majority. This 2/3 is NOT the total Congress - it is 2/3 of the Senate AND 2/3 of the House each voting on the bill.
President Trump first used this approval/disapproval (aka veto) power in his 2nd term when he returned HR504 and HR131 to Congress with objections (discussed in my December 31, 2025 ANP Article). HR504, in the last action taken on January 8, 2026, failed to garner the 2/3 vote needed to override the President's objections. HR131, in the last action taken, also on January 8, 2026, failed to garner the 2/3 vote needed to override the President's objections.
Based on what we have seen of this partisan Congress, the Republicans have a very slight edge over Democrats, so passing those items that only require a majority of the vote is relatively "doable." On the other hand, those items that require 2/3 of the vote to pass are highly unlikely to pass as long as this Congress with these Senators & Representatives remain in office.
In order to accomplish this "threat" to Congress, the President shall have to provide objections for every bill presented to him, since simply not signing it causes the bill to become law in 10 days if he does not return the bill to Congress with his objections. While we all can see from the President's TruthSocial post that his "reason" for not signing bills presented to him is unofficially "because they have not passed the SAVE Act;" he must still provide, in writing, his objections to signing the bill for them to reconsider. The US Constitution does not say the reasons for the objections need to make sense or be reasonable. It only says that he must provide some reasons for not signing so that the "10-day" trigger is not pulled. Then it's up to the Senate AND the House, individually, (not Congress as a whole) to decide if 2/3 of them want to hop on the band wagon to "override" President Trump's decision to not sign the bill into law.
Now there will be two opposing options in play. Do the folk who voted against the bill in the first place vote for the bill once the President has returned it to thwart the President or do they stick with their original opposition to the bill. If they do the former, we will know for sure that their refusal to vote for the bill in the first place was a simple partisan ploy. If they do the latter, they have stuck to their original vote but passed up a chance to 'stick it' to the President by overriding his refusal to sign. Such a dilemma for the Democrats!
Right now, only HR22 has been voted upon. It passed the House and has been forwarded to the Senate. The Senate has done nothing with it and the text of the bill is still as I reported twice previously (February 3, 2026 and again February 2, 2026). Which means its all about voting and does not yet contain any other action items (such as mutilation of children). However, that is not to say that they have kept their website up-to-date and changes have been made that have not yet been posted to their official Congressional search website.
On March 9, 2026, President Trump signed the Proclamation US Hostage and Wrongful Detainee Day, 2026 reminding us to extend prayers and support to every American captive held abroad. In the first year of his 2nd term, President and Mrs. Trump have secured the release of 101 detained Americans from Gaza, Venezuela, Afghanistan, Russia, and Belarus. President Trump writes:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim March 9, 2026, as U.S. Hostage and Wrongful Detainee Day. On this day, as we fly the Hostage and Wrongful Detainee flag at the White House, I call upon the people of the United States to observe this day with relevant programs, ceremonies, and activities.
Criminal cartels and foreign terrorist organizations in the Western Hemisphere should be demolished to the fullest extent possible consistent with applicable law.
The United States and its allies should coordinate to deprive these organizations of any control of territory and access to financing or resources necessary to conduct their campaigns of violence.
The United States will train and mobilize partner nation militaries to achieve the most effective fighting force necessary to dismantle cartels and their ability to export violence and pursue influence through organized intimidation.
The United States and its allies should keep external threats at bay, including malign foreign influences from outside the Western Hemisphere.
President Trump, working with other foreign nations, has renewed his commitment to dismantle cartels and foreign terrorist operations, not only in the US but in the entire Western Hemisphere. He acknowledges the Americas Counter Cartel Coalition, established by the Secretary of War, that includes representatives from 17 countries showing the region is ready to defeat these threats to all our people and nations. Cartels and foreign terrorists control territories and commerce, extort political and judicial systems, wield arms and field military capabilities, and use assassinations and terrorism to achieve their ends.
On March 6, 2026, President Trump signed the EO Combating Cybercrime, Fraud, and Predatory Schemes Against American Citizens recognizes that cybercrime, fraud, and predatory schemes drain the life savings of American families while destroying the future for our youth. These schemes include ransomware, malware, phishing, financial fraud, "sextortion" and other extortion schemes, and impersonation. Many of these schemes are carried out by Transnational Criminal Organizations (TCOs). To protect from these, and other, schemes, the US must harden financial and digital systems.
Section 2 orders Secretaries of State, Treasury, War, & DHS, and the AG to consult with the Office of the National Cyber Director and coordinate with the Assistant to the President and Homeland Security Advisor to (1) review what is currently in place and create a plan to improve on it within 60 days and (2) submit an action plan to prevent, disrupt, investigate, and dismantle these schemes and their perpetrators within 120 days.
Section 3 orders the AG to submit a recommendation for the establishment of a Victims Restoration Program within 90 days.
Section 4 tasks the Secretary of State to coordinate with foreign governments to demand action be taking against bad actors fleecing Americans while living outside of the US. For those foreign governments who will not assist in apprehending these criminals, foreign aid can be limited, targeted sanctions can be initiated, visa restrictions and/or trade penalties can be enacted, or the foreign government can be expelled from the US if they are found to be complicit in the schemes of these bad actors. Allies and partners shall be consulted and encouraged to enhance consequences for those foreign governments that refuse to prosecute TCOs.

Trump Combats Cybercrime, Fraud, and Predatory Schemes Against American Citizens explains that President Trump has ordered relevant Administration officials to conduct a comprehensive review, submit an action plan, prosecute fraud & scam schemes, provide training and assistance to counteract cyber threats, recommendations for establishing a Victims Restoration Program, and engage in foreign governments demanding action be taken against bad actors residing in other countries.
On February 19, 2026, the White House published the Fact Sheet Trump Administration Finalizes Trade Deal with Indonesia (first discussed in my July 24, 2025 ANP Article). This agreement achieves reciprocal trade while unlocking major breakthroughs in trade for US manufacturing, agriculture, and digital sectors defining a prosperous path forward for both nations with tariffs between 0% and 19% for imports from Indonesia (depending upon the item) which will act to quickly reduce the $23.7B trade deficit that had existed between our two nations. So far, President Trump has reached agreements with major trading partners covering more than half of the global GDP.
On March 2, 2026, the Office of the First Lady published the statement First Lady Melania Trump Addresses U.N. Security Council, Championing Peace Through Education. She delivered the message "Peace does not need to be fragile" to the Council. She has identified our current period in time as the "age of imagination" because AI can assist people in learning of the customs, race, and religious beliefs of other nations. The First Lady's appearance at the Council is historic because the US has just assumed the presidency of the UN Security Council (the presidency rotates each month) and it is the first time a sitting First Lady has presided over the Council. Mrs. Trump challenged the Council members to "pledge to safeguard learning ... to build a future generation of leaders who embrace peace through education."
On March 2, 2026, the Office of the First Lady published the statement The President and First Lady’s Message on Read Across America Day as they joined millions of students, parents, teachers, and librarians celebrating the importance of reading. The written word once stirred the hearts of patriots and helped shape the course of our Nation's history. Those same words, today, continue to inspire young minds. EO 14389 Ending Certain Tariff Actions was signed February 20, 2026 and published February 25, 2026. Due to changes in status of various trade agreements, some tariffs are being terminated. President Trump has delegated the effective date of said terminations to be determined by the Secretaries of Commerce & DHS and the US Trade Representative in consultation with appropriate officials.

Proclamation 11011 President George Washington's Birthday, 2026 was signed February 16, 2026 and published in the FR on February 19, 2026. This proclamation honors our first US President, George Washington (who was discussed as a Patriot in my February 10, 2026 ANP Article) on his day of birth and offers gratitude for President Washington's life of public service that enabled our country to become the great nation it now is.
The accompanying Fact Sheet President Donald J. Trump Imposes a Temporary Import Duty to Address Fundamental International Payment Problems explains that this proclamation will protect the US economy and US national interests by rebalancing the trade relationships. The fact sheet also addresses fundamental problems in payment deficits. Tariffs protect US interests by reshoring domestic production, lowering costs, and raising wages. President Trump will continue to challenge the massive trade deficit experienced by our country using all resources at his disposal, most notably tariffs, to bring equitable trade agreements to all nations while restoring domestic production, manufacturing, and delivery of American-made products.
Proclamation 11013 National Angel Family Day, 2026 was signed February 23, 2026 and published in the FR on February 26, 2026. This proclamation honors the lives of thousands of Americans who died due to criminal illegal aliens and the deadly drugs they bring across our borders. In this proclamation President Trump calls upon Congress to pass Kate's Law S2547 which would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to increase penalties for individuals who illegally enter and reenter the US after being removed.
S2547 - Kate's Law was introduced by Ted Cruz (R-TX) on July 30, 2025. The bill has 3 cosponsors (all Republicans). The bill is currently sitting in the Senate Judiciary Committee where it was referred on July 30, 2025. No further actions are recorded for this bill.
Section 2 of the bill increases penalties from 2 years to 5 years and adds (e) Any alien who
(1)(A) enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers;
(1)(B) eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers; or
(1)(C) attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact
(2) thereafter is convicted of any crime punishable by more than 1 year of imprisonment, may be fined under title 18, United States Code, and shall be imprisoned for a term of not less than 5 years.
Section 3 increases penalties for those who entered illegally, were deported, then re-entered our country illegally extending the imprisonment sentence to 10 years. If they were arrested after re-entry for drugs the penalty increases to 15 years. If they were convicted of any aggravated felony, any crime defined as a felony by the relevant jurisdiction, or any crime with a sentence of more than 1 year imprisonment; the penalty increases to 10 years.
Proclamation 11014 Ratepayer Protection Pledge was signed March 4, 2026 and published in the FR on March 9, 2026. This proclamation is intended to remove consumer's concerns that the huge AI data centers being built will force rate increases upon normal consumers. These AI data center companies "guarantee" they will build, bring, or buy the resources for their electricity needs as well as pay for the new infrastructure necessary to deliver said power. In addition, these companies agree to invest in local communities and contribute to a more reliable grid overall in the community. You know as well as I do that these companies will find a way to pass on the cost of this to their consumers through their pricing policies just like every other corporation/business in the US does when any of their production-manufacturing-delivery costs rise.
The accompanying Fact Sheet President Donald J. Trump Advances Energy Affordability with the Ratepayer Protection Pledge explains that the proclamation ensures tech companies build, bring, or buy power for their data centers (as opposed to electric companies raising rates across the board to pay for the power these companies will need). In addition to ensuring the average consumer does not get gouged, the tech companies have agreed to support community grid systems to improve reliability and delivery of electricity to all. Finally, the Fact Sheet states that President Trump is leading the nation on energy affordability and innovation while ending the "Green New Scam," establishing the National Energy Dominance Council (NEDC), and saving 76 coal power plants from being totally shut down. Continuation of the National Emergency With Respect to Venezuela was signed February 18, 2026 and published in the FR February 20, 2026. This notice extends EO 13692 of March 8, 2015 for another year ending March 8, 2027 due to ongoing erosion of human rights guarantees, persecution of political opponents, curtailment of press freedoms, use of violence and human rights violations and abuses in response to antigovernment protests, and arbitrary arrest and detention of antigovernment protesters, as well as exacerbating presence of significant government corruption. This looks like he is giving the 'new' government of Venezuela one year to clean up the mess that the Maduro regime imposed.
Continuation of the National Emergency With Respect to Ukraine was signed February 18, 2026 and published in the FR February 20, 2026. This notice extends EO 13660 of March 6, 2014 for yet another year ending March 6, 2027 due to the National Security threat Ukraine imposes through actions and policies of persons that undermine democratic processes and institutions in Ukraine; threaten its peace, security, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity; and contribute to the misappropriation of its assets. So why is Zelenskyy allowed to remain in power?
Continuation of the National Emergency With Respect to Iran was signed March 2, 2026 and published in the FR March 5, 2026. This notice extends EO 12957 of March 15, 1995 for another year ending March 15, 2027. This notice cites the actions and policies of the Government of Iran as continuing to pose an extraordinary threat to the US. These actions and policies include proliferation and development of missiles and other asymmetric and conventional weapons capabilities, its network and campaign of regional aggression, its support for terrorist groups, and the malign activities of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and its surrogates. We think the "deep state" here in the US is burrowed into our government almost to the point of not being able to route them out. Just look at Iran. Their government is the deep state. It is said their leadership contingency plan is hundreds of candidates long. The Iranian people need to step up their game to get rid of the entire government structure!
