The White House published a Fact SheetPresident Donald J. Trump Previews Plans for the Grandest Celebration of Americas Birthdayfor July 4, 2026 when we reach the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence calling the plans "the year-long Great American State Fair" aka "America 250." The Great American State Fair will be held on the National Mall on July 4, 2026. It will have exhibits from all 50 states. Events will include high school athletic competitions led by HHS Secretary RFKJr called the Patriot Games.
To honor American Heroes, the "National Garden of American Heroes" park will feature 250 American heroes (funding for this was included in the OBBB). Every government department and agency will be participating and each will be assigned a set time period for decorating their area. President Trump also encourages all of America's religious communities to pray for our Great Nation and its works.
Of course, this means there will be an America 250 Commission established to monitor and direct the year-long festivities. The EO to create this commission has yet to be published.
The National Park EO accompanying Fact Sheetstates that in 2020 the National Park Service's maintenance backlog was $14.9 Billion. That amount grew to over $22.9 Billion during the Autopen Administration. It is anticipated that the increase in fees to foreign tourists will help reduce this deficit.
The second EO creating the Make America Beautiful Again Commission will be tasked to cut red tape, lead conservation efforts, and drive growth. The Commission will be chaired by the Secretary of the Interior (Currently Doug Burgum) and the rest of the Commission will be members of the Trump Administration.The accompanying Fact Sheet explains that a big focus is to expand public access to Federal lands while promoting a wide range of outdoor recreation opportunities.
The second, signed June 30, 2025, went "straight to the Federal Register" EO 14311Establishing a White House Office for Special Peace Missions. This EO is established to bring about the end of conflict and strife around the world. The President will assign a "Special Envoy for Peace Missions" who will coordinate with the Department of State and Department of Defense and other "relevant" departments and agencies within the Executive Branch. While the nominee has yet to be announced, it appears Steve Witkoff is currently holding the title. Apparently, he is spreading the "Abraham Peace Accords" to other countries. The Gettysburg Pennsylvania Historic Crossroads website documents the Battle of Gettysburg. More than two years into the Civil War, the Battle of Gettysburg was fought from July 1 to 3, 1863. Over 160,000 troops battled at this location. This battle produced the largest number of casualties in the entire Civil War with an estimated 3,155 Union and 3,903 Confederate deaths. More than 50,000 people (almost equally on both sides) were injured. By July 3, 1863, Union Major General George Meade's Army of the Potomac defeated Confederate General Robert E Lee's Army of Northern Virginia. On July 4, 1863 General Lee withdrew his troops. In November, 1863, President Lincoln would give the Gettysburg Address on the site.
