Karoline Leavitt Tells Reporter She Asked A 'Stupid Question,' Anti-Trump 'Non Profits' File More Lawsuits, Federal Register Still Hasn't Improved Its Workflow

By S.E. Gunn, PhD -All News Pipeline

On June 10, 2025, two more lawsuits were filed against the Trump/Vance Administration. The first,National Immigration Litigation Alliance v. U.S. Department of Statecase # 1:25-cv-11692 filed in District Court, D. Massachusetts seeks to force the Department of State to release written agreements with Panama, Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, and Mexico concerning repatriation of ILLEGAL ALIENS that the NILA has determined were withheld from the original April 5, 2025 FOIA. They are charging that the Department of State failed to respond in a timely manner, failed to conduct an adequate search, failed to disclose 'responsive' records, and failed to grant their 'public interest' fee waiver. It seems to me they are trying to involve themselves in FOREIGN POLICY and NATIONAL SECURITY interests with these inquiries.

The second lawsuitAmerican Oversight v. Department of Homeland Securitycase # 1:25-cv-01811 filed in District Court, District of Columbia seeks to obtain records they requested April 10, 2025 regarding decisions made about the US Military and southern border. They demanded emails that include the search terms buffer zone, Posse Comitatus, Insurrection Act, and Stryker from both Homeland Security and ICE. They are claiming that the records they received on the original request were inadequate and they claim records were wrongfully withheld. It seems to me they are trying to involve themselves in NATIONAL SECURITY.

The IRS provides a 501(c)(3) "lookup" feature onlineand will provide the final determination letter, copies of returns, and Pub 78 Data on the organization. So, of course, I looked these two organizations up.

The National Immigration Litigation Alliance - Immigrant Justice Through The Courts was created to "champion the rights of noncitizens." They were created in Brookline Mass with EIN 84-4675622 and determined to be a public charity on Aug 26, 2020 effective January 27, 2020. In 2021 they filed Contributions of $122,221 down from 133,203 in 2020. The IRS online database has no other income forms for this organization. They do not list their 'partners.' However, Influence Watch tells us

In 2023, the National Immigration Litigation Alliance received $284,590 in contributions, $53,357 in program service revenue, and $342,873 in total revenue. The same year, NILA made $308,803 in expenditures and held $ 582,611 in net assets.

On the other hand,American Oversight "launched" in March 2017 and their partners are not listed. They seem to be based in DC. Effective January 30, 2017, the Internal Revenue Service determined American Oversight is a tax exempt organization under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3). Donors can deduct contributions to American Oversight under Internal Revenue Code Section 170. BUT the IRS does NOT have any records on them available online. No determination letter, no copies of returns, no Pub 78 Data are linked. Only the name of the organization and EIN 81-5294830. They do not list their 'partners.' However, Influence Watchtells us American Oversight was created strictly to watch what the Trump Administration is doing and to file lawsuits when they can. Influence Watch says:

In 2023, American Oversight reported $6.5 million in total revenue, including $6.2 million in direct contributions and $161,568 in settlement revenues. It also reported $5.8 million in total expenses, including $4.2 million in salaries and compensation of employees.

LAWFARE lawsuit tracker to date:

  • 289 active cases
  • 38 dismissed suits or appeals
  • 10 SCOTUS stays or motions to vacate of lower court orders
  • 1 SCOTUS affirmation of lower court order
  • 12 suits where judges granted summary judgement or a permanent injunction

President Trump's Presidential Actions to date:

  • 161 Executive Orders
  • 66 Proclamations
  • 41 Presidential Orders, Memoranda, Determinations, and Notices

They are behind in recording the President Actions that the White House announces when they are signed. This issue was addressed in ANP an articlecovering EO 14259which has been an issue for years. This is part of what lead to the firing of the current archivist, Dr. Colleen Shogan sometime in February, assigning the duties of the archivist to Marco Rubio, Secretary of State. Apparently, the workers at the Federal Register are resistant to the idea of working at a faster pace.

On June 11, 2025, the EOs issued June 6, 2025 and discussed in the June 7, 2025 ANP article were finally published in the register. On June 11, 2025, the White House released an article President Trump Signs Executive Orders on Drones, Flying Cars, and Supersonics reminding us that he signed these and they've finally been 'officially' published in the Register. Considering the Presidential Actions are transmitted to the Federal Register electronically, it "should" take no longer than a day, two at the max, to have the documents published electronically in the Register. So what are they actually doing over there at the Register?

Next up is the latest White House articleThe One Big Beautiful Bill Will Supercharge Our Economytouting the predicted benefits of the bill currently sitting in the Senate:

  • The One Big Beautiful Bill will raise take-home pay between $7,800 and $13,300 for the average family of four. It will increase wages between $6,100 to $11,600 for the average worker. (Watch)
  • Not only does the One Big Beautiful Bill add $500 to the Child Tax Credit, it makes it permanent. (Watch)
  • It will cement No Tax on Tips, No Tax on Overtime, and tax cuts for seniors. (Watch)
  • The One Big Beautiful Bill will make the 2017 tax cuts permanent. This will provide individuals and businesses with certainty and build economic momentum. (Watch)
  • The legislation will provide 100% expensing for new factories, as well as existing factories that expand operations and support Made in America. (Watch)
  • The legislation will provide the ability to buy a new American-made car and deduct the interest. (Watch)
  • This bill will allow us to prevent our corporate revenues from being drained into foreign treasuries and that is in the hundreds of billions of dollars. (Watch)
  • If the One Big Beautiful Bill doesnt pass, it would be cataclysmic. It would be the largest tax hike in history. It would be a disaster for businesses, for working Americans, and for our status in the world We would see increases in taxes of thousands of dollars on working Americans, we would see businesses contract and we would see a substantial increase in the unemployment rate. (Watch)

Whether or not it will do any, some, or all of these things will not be known until it passes Congress and is signed into law. Then, we'll have to live with it for at least a year before we actually see what changes in our lives the bill makes. I do agree with those who point out the Republicans in the Senate who are outspoken against the bill were NOT outspoken against previous bills that frivolously spent our tax dollars by providing NGOs the funding so they could destroy our country, as we are seeing in LA.

The White House also released the articleUnder President Trump, America is Defeating Inflationtouting the results of:
  • In May, inflation came in lighter than expected for yet another month continuing the trend happening every month since President Trump took office.
  • Core inflation held steady and remains at 2% the lowest level since March 2021.
  • Wage growth remains strong under President Trump. Wages are up nearly 2% so far.
  • Prices for everyday Americans continue to fall with reductions in energy, gas, meats, poultry, eggs, airfare, cars, and apparel going down in May.
Although in my part of the country, I have yet to see these reductions in pricing! And based on replies in the comments sections of articles where this is discussed, many of us are not seeing the reductions yet while others are. Apparently, it depends on what part of the country you are in and what the political leanings of your state/city are whether or not you are seeing a reduction in pricing.

Finally, I'd like to close this article with something you may have missed: Karoline Leavitt tells a reporter that she asked a "stupid question" when the reporter asked if President Trump would "allow" protests on June 14 at the Military Parade that is scheduled.
