According to this October story at Nutra Ingredients-USA, one of the latest doping scandals in professional sports is shining a bright light on the supplement market with one athlete who was suspended over a failed drug test claiming he'd be filing a lawsuit against a company he claims gave him tainted 'supplements'.
While NFL player Brandon Copeland didn't name the company involved nor the supplement he was suing or tested positive for, this Scientific American story from back in October of 2018 reported that testing done by the FDA had found more than 750 dietary supplements tainted with prescription drugs, with some supplements containing more than 2 prescription drugs and off all of those supplement tested, less than half of them were ever recalled.
The last major legislation to strengthen regulatory oversight of dietary supplements, the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act, was passed 25 years ago. The bill was introduced in 1994 by former senators Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and Tom Harkin (D-Iowa).
The law classified many over-the-counter nutritional and dietary products as food rather than drugs. It also prohibited manufacturers and distributors of dietary supplements and dietary ingredients from marketing products produced in a contaminated environment or containing harmful ingredients, as well as those that are deceptively labeled or have unproven claims.
However, the FDA is not responsible for harmful products until after they reach the market, so the agency can’t take regulatory action until a tainted or mislabeled product is possibly already in the hands of a consumer.
This act, touted by President Bill Clinton as “bring[ing] common sense to the treatment of dietary supplements under regulation and law,” effectively set the standard for lax government regulation of the supplement industry.
And while we're not big fans at all of government regulations as they far too often stifle truly innovative and ground-breaking new products and ideas, living in a time period when the globalists are actually pushing cannibalism in our faces as a solution to a nutrition and protein problem that the world faces, most Americans should want to know exactly what they're eating because if they're already tainting supplements with pharmaceutical drugs, with no methods of detection, who really knows what else is going into them?
Over the past several days, we've published two previous stories on ANP which took a look at some bizarre oddities happening to America's food supply, including mass recalls of numerous different products, warnings coming to us from farmers of a disastrous harvest due largely to early-fall snowstorms in America's 'breadbasket' as well as warnings coming out from over 11,000 radical leftist scientists that our planet Earth is way-overpopulated and 'population control' must take place.
And now we see in this new story over at End Times Headlines that smoked salmon sold all across the US has been recalled because some of it has been found to contain botulism, a potentially deadly form of food poisoning.
Mill Stream Corp. of Hancock, Maine, issued the recall of 10 lots of Cold Smoked Salmon, the Food And Drug Administration announced Wednesday.
The packaging states that the salmon must be kept refrigerated at or below 38 degrees Fahrenheit, or in the freezer. However, the FDA says a review found the salmon’s water phase salt levels tested below 3.5%. Because of this, the product must be stored frozen until it is ready to be thawed and eaten.
If it is stored in the refrigerator after being thawed, it could become contaminated with Clostridium botulinum, the bacteria that can lead to botulism. If you purchased the salmon frozen, the FDA says keep it frozen until it is ready to be thawed in the refrigerator immediately before it is cooked. However, the FDA says some retailers may have thawed the salmon before selling it. If it was purchased already thawed, get rid of it.
With even foods that have long been considered 'health foods' also now tainted as Daisy Luther over at the Organic Prepper had reported in this November 6th story, as we hear in the 1st video at the bottom of this story by 'Ice Age Farmer', each day we're getting more and more signs that our food system is collapsing rapidly, with our videographer giving us example after example while warning us to prepare now, while we still can.
