White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller told Fox News host Sean Hannity on Wednesday that CNN was refusing to book him for appearances to “rebut” the network’s “lies.”
Miller’s last appearance on the network was Oct. 6, when he clashed with “CNN News Central” co-host Boris Sanchez over immigration enforcement operations by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Hannity described Miller’s appearances on CNN as a favorite of Fox News viewers.
“Did you really get banned, I read it today, from CNN? That was some of the best material we had ever had on the program, in the history of the program, is you schooling these hosts, and now — I guess they might have figured out that its ratings goal for this program. Did you really get banned?” Hannity asked Miller, who responded, “Yes, Sean, I think they — I think that your decision to play the clips of me on CNN has resulted in CNN refusing to take me, so this is a completely true story.”
“So over the last few days, our brilliant White House communications shop has reached out to CNN, which, of course, is running one fake news hit piece after another, and they said, ‘Stephen Miller would like to come on your network to rebut any of these lies,’” Miller continued. “And they asked, ‘What show?’ They said ‘Stephen Miller will do any show from dawn to dusk.’ They said ‘What topic?’ The White House said, ‘Stephen is available to discuss any topic with any host at any time. As far as you’re concerned, Stephen has no scheduling conflicts at all. He’ll make himself available from the first hour of air to the last hour of air on any subject.’ And CNN’s response was, ‘We will not take him, period, for any show on any topic.’ That’s completely true, Sean.”
Miller’s wife, Katie, appeared on “CNN NewsNight” Nov. 28, where she confronted with host Abby Phillip, saying Phillip allowed guests like left-wing podcaster Jennifer Welch to call her husband a “Nazi.” On Wednesday’s episode of the program, host Abby Phillip asserted that Miller arrived to the United States via “chain migration” and also claimed his family members “didn’t speak a lick of English.”
During the Oct. 28, 2024, episode of “CNN NewsNight” Phillip removed conservative podcaster Ryan James Girdusky from the panel following former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan’s complaints after Girdusky made a joke that referenced an Israeli operation that targeted the radical Islamic terrorist group Hezbollah via altered pagers during a tiff with Hasan after Hasan called Girdusky a “Nazi.” She later addressed the exchange on-air after a commercial break, saying Girdusky was banned from CNN after Girdusky’s on-air clash with Hasan.
A review of the episode’s transcript shows Phillip did not chastise Hasan for comparing Trump supporters to Nazis.
“Stephen Miller has graciously made himself available to appear on any CNN show these last few days to discuss a wide range of topics and to push back on fake news,” Cheung said. “Yet, CNN is so afraid they declined to have him on, probably because they know he’d run circles around any of their hosts. CNN is actively engaging in partisan politics and acting as the propaganda arm of the Democrat party.”
The White House also pointed the DCNF to a post by the RapidResponse47 account on X that included Miller discussing his lack of appearances on CNN with Hannity.
“Members of the administration, including Stephen Miller, are welcome to come on our air,” a CNN spokesperson told the DCNF. “As a news organization, we make editorial decisions about the stories we cover and when, and that depends on the news priorities of the day. We look forward to having Stephen on again in the future as the news warrants.”
