National Women And Girls In Sports Day, MN Operation Metro Surge, First Lady Meets With Freed Hostage Keith Siegel, And More

On February 4, 2026, the White House posted the Presidential Message on National Women and Girls in Sports Day (NGWSD). The Women's Sports Foundation states this day started on February 3, 1987 with Proclamation 5606 signed by President Ronald Regan as a day to recognize women's sports. This first event started with remembering Olympic volleyball player, Flo Hyman, who died of Marfan's Syndrome in 1986 while she was competing in Japan. Since then, this day has evolved into a celebration of the accomplishments of women and girls in sports, both past and current. National Partners of this day include Delta, ESPNW, Gatorade, Michelob Ultra, and NBC Sports as well as by a grant from Bread Financial Corporate Giving Fund. This annual observance is held during the first week of February each year. President Trump writes:

Female athletes go beyond breaking records or winning championships—they redefine what is possible, elevate their sports, and inspire the next generation of girls to achieve greatness.  Today and every day, we recommit to preserving the timeless values that sports provide and to building a future where every young girl, collegiate athlete, and professional competitor pushes further, reaches higher, and dreams bigger.

On February 4, 2026, the White House posted the article New Milestone in Operation Metro Surge: 4,000+ Criminal Illegals Removed from Minnesota Streets announcing the return of commonsense Immigration Enforcement policies in Minnesota have made Minnesotan streets safer by removing criminal illegal alien murderers, rapists, gang members, and terrorists from the state.

It appears that Minnesota politicians are following up on the agreement they made with Tom Homan to allow ICE to take custody of illegal aliens instead of releasing them back to the local community. Tom Homan also reminds ALL illegal aliens that ALL of them are subject to deportation for violating US Immigration Law.

Michael McDonald, of the District of Columbia, to be Chairperson of the National Endowment for the Humanities for a term of four years, vice Shelly C. Lowe.

On February 4, 2026, the Office of the First Lady published the statement First Lady Melania Trump Holds Private Meeting with Freed American-Israeli Hostage Keith Siegel After Helping Secure His Release the first since his release. In January 2025, the First Lady met with Aviva Siegel which led to Keith's ultimately release from captivity. Aviva indicated her deepest gratitude to the First Lady for her steadfast support since her husband, Keith, was captured. Keith, too, expressed his gratefulness to both the First Lady and President Trump for their efforts in the release of all the hostages as well as for his own return to the US.
