CNN is predictably attempting to cast themselves as victims after their latest fake news fiasco as writers on the right and left side of the political aisle start publicly calling them out.
After the recent slew of "fake news" scandals that have engulfed a half dozen media organizations in the last two weeks alone, CNN's Chris Cilliza is now claiming it is "beyond offensive" and "appalling" to suggest that "journalists are purposely reporting false information to forward some sort of agenda."
Cillizza and other CNN "journalists" are taking to Twitter to whine after CNN's resident attention whore, Jim Acosta, attacked Sarah Huckabee-Sanders after President Trump called out specific media outlets and members by name for the plethora of fake news they have been busted over a couple of the worst weeks the media has seen in a while.
AGENDA DRIVEN FAKE NEWS? DAMN STRAIGHT IT IS.
Cillizza's being offended is most likely a direct result of having the truth of their agenda called out publicly by the White House press secretary, rather than the claim itself, because there is ample evidence that the MSM is driven by an anti-Trump agenda, with their bias so clear everybody but those in the mainstream media see it.
The MSM's descent into oblivion continues to snowball as CNN's defensiveness stems from the fact that they have had a particularly bad year in "mistakes" as they are prone to call them. They had a story claiming former FBI director James Comey would be refuting the president in his congressional testimony having to be changed, corrected and re-titled after Comey's prepared statement was released confirming President Trump's assertions.
In just the last week alone, CNN was forced to edit and correct a story regarding an email received by Donald Trump Jr., in which they implied that a Wikileaks encryption key was given to the president's son before it was released publicly, after asserting "multiple sources" gave them the date on the email, but it ended up being and incorrect date, when the actual email was sent ten days later, which was after Wikileaks had published the information.
In that case, other networks, including NBC and MSNBC, also published the wrong date, claiming they independently "confirmed" the wrong date, which indicates a serious breakdown between their so-called "sources" and their "reporters," and has caused ripples across the internet and panic within news organizations, as even far left liberal sites are calling them out for a lack of transparency over such an egregious mistake, as well as asking how multiple sources managed to provide them the exact same "wrong" information, and why they hadn't verified it with the actual email when other outlets did so and got the story right.
As CNN's walking back the Sessions story proves, it can take months for them to have to back off their initial stories, so we haven't a clue exactly how many misleading stories by the MSM are out there, but that is also only half the issue.
Fake or misleading news aside, any claim by the mainstream media that they have not been reporting according to their own agenda, with their inherent bias on display, is in and of itself "fake news."
Trump’s attacks on the press have been aimed at what he calls the “mainstream media.” Six of the seven U.S. outlets in our study—CBS, CNN, NBC, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Washington Post—are among those he’s attacked by name. All six portrayed Trump’s first 100 days in highly unfavorable terms (see Figure 6). CNN and NBC’s coverage was the most unrelenting—negative stories about Trump outpaced positive ones by 13-to-1 on the two networks. Trump’s coverage on CBS also exceeded the 90 percent mark. Trump’s coverage exceeded the 80 percent level in The New York Times (87 percent negative) and The Washington Post (83 percent negative). The Wall Street Journal came in below that level (70 percent negative), a difference largely attributable to the Journal’s more frequent and more favorable economic coverage.
Reference in the above quote to figure 6, shown in the graph below:
According to that same analysis, the mainstream media's coverage of President Trump has set "a new standard for unfavorable press coverage of a president." That was the first hundred days, and MCR (Media Research Center) has followed up and analyzed the last three months of coverage from just the three main television networks, ABC, CBS and NBC evening newscasts, and found it to be 90 percent negative.
In April 2017, Gallup found 62 percent of Americans clearly see media bias, with more understanding the MSM favors Democrats over Republicans (64 percent), and a "clear majority" say the media is "often inaccurate" (55 percent) with only 36 percent believing they get their facts straight.
In October 2017, a POLITICO/Morning Consult poll found that 46 percent of voters take it a step further and don't just think the media is "inaccurate" but believe the media "makes up stories" about President Trump. Only 37 percent think they do not fabricate stories, but 17 percent are undecided as to whether they do or don't.
As the 2016 Presidential election proved without a doubt, the only thing polling is good for is noting patterns of behavior, which in that case was a pattern to skew the polls since their results insisting Hillary Clinton wouldn't lose, were obviously wrong, but the pattern in the ones quoted above seems to show that Americans clearly see the media has an agenda, to the point where they don't care if the story is accurate or not as long as it casts a negative light on President Trump.
BOTTOM LINE
The MSM "agenda" is clear as we compare the after election coverage to the before election coverage which was just as hostile, and find that since Donald Trump was elected over the media favorite, Hillary Clinton, the MSM has declared all out war on the duly elected president and are not even attempting to appear unbiased, so the when personalities like Cillizza talk about being "appalled" and "offended," it isn't at the suggestion they are biased, it is because Sarah Huckabee-Sanders stated it publicly.
When CNN's Jim Acosta, Jake Tapper, and Brian Stelter's entire timelines are mostly Trump bashing posts, and attacks against the President, it takes a truly warped and disconnected mind to claim that Donald Trump is "bullying them," as Stelter attempts to say, when Trump hits back against them and calls them out publicly when they report fake news.
They seem to feel that they can lie, attack and bully the President and the Huckabee-Sanders, but whine about being victims when they are called out on it.
