In this eye-opening recent story called "Is God's Judgement Coming On America?" (also examined in great detail in the final video below), our author discusses the words of Joel 2:31: The sun will be turned to darkness…before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. Warning within the story that the upcoming so-called "Great American Eclipse" may be a warning to our nation of impending disaster and destruction, we are absolutely stunned by the amount of 'signs' that surround this eclipse and the following 40+ days from the viewpoint of Biblical prophecy.
However, as our videographer clearly points out to us, we probably shouldn't be so surprised as long ago we were told to watch out for the signs in the stars and in the heavens. While millions are preparing to 'celebrate', we're also reminded that many past eclipses have been 'calamitous' and not 'celebratory' and as we read in more detail below, many different news stations and websites are urging people to stock up on food and prepare. A few years ago I was teaching through the book of Joel when the ancient words of his prophecy came up off the page. I knew with hair-raising certainty that God’s severe judgment was coming on America! I have taught Joel several times since. Each time has served to confirm with deep conviction that God is warning America of impending disaster and destruction.
In light of Ezekiel 33:1-6 that commands a watchman to be faithful to warn others of the danger coming against the land, I feel compelled to issue the warning once again. The warning is triggered by the total solar eclipse of August 21, 2017, nicknamed America’s Eclipse. For the first time in almost 100 years, a total solar eclipse will be seen from coast to coast in our nation. People are preparing to mark this significant event with viewing parties at exclusive prime sites. The celebratory nature regarding the eclipse brings to my mind the Babylonian King Belshazzar who threw a drunken feast the night the Medes and Persians crept under the city gate. While Belshazzar and his friends partied, they were oblivious to the impending danger. Belshazzar wound up dead the next day, and the Babylonian empire was destroyed.
Jewish rabbis have historically viewed solar eclipses as warnings from God to Gentile nations. Therefore, my perspective on the upcoming phenomenon is not celebratory. While no one can know for sure if judgment is coming on America, it does seem that God is signaling us about something. Time will tell what that something is.
With America possibly never more divided than since the Civil War, we think it's not just a coincidence that all of this is occuring at a time when our nation is being metaphorically split in two by the coming eclipse on August 21st, an eclipse that we learn will also be bringing in 'Elul'. Elul is the 12th month of the Jewish calendar and a time of repentance in preparation for the High Holy Days of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
While millions are expected to gather along the path of complete totality for a little over 2 minutes of frolicking and rejoicing, they clearly don't recognize what the eclipse may be foreshadowing as the sun cuts its path across the sky, dividing the country. And very interestingly, as our videographer also points out, 7 years later on April 8th of 2024 as seen in the photograph below we'll get the next 'Great American Eclipse', cutting an X across the nation.
As Steve Quayle reminds us, God called his people to repentance in sackcloth and ashes and they just partied on! They were then destroyed. "The parallel to the US is prophetically pictured". From Isaiah 22:12-14:
12 And in that day did the Lord God of hosts call to weeping, and to mourning, and to baldness, and to girding with sackcloth: 13 And behold joy and gladness, slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine: let us eat and drink; for to morrow we shall die. 14 And it was revealed in mine ears by the Lord of hosts, Surely this iniquity shall not be purged from you till ye die, saith the Lord God of hosts.
The fact that the US and South Korea will begin a massive military exercise upon the Korean peninsula on the same day as the 'Great American Eclipse' half a world away wasn't lost upon Michael Snyder:
On August 21st, approximately 25,000 U.S. troops will join “tens of thousands” from the South Korean military to conduct a “major military exercise” that is already triggering threats from North Korea. Considering the fact that any sort of provocation could cause a nuclear war to erupt on the Korean peninsula, is this really a wise thing to do? The more research that I do on this upcoming solar eclipse, the stranger things become. When I first started hearing about this eclipse many months ago, I didn’t pay too much attention, but now after looking into it extensively I do believe that it is going to be quite significant.

With the msm continuously pushing the racial divide while America turns against itself, it's clear we're living in truly amazing times as Michael Snyder also points out in this story over at Charisma News warning of an extremely unusual convergence of events coming to America and the world between August 21st and September 30th that many believe could be a turning or breaking point for our nation. What is 'the answer' to what America faces in the days and weeks ahead? With 'civil war' possibly at hand and America looking more and more like a divided house that cannot stand as millions of Americans descend into madness, we're reminded that this is nothing new under the sun as sin and rebellion against God will always produce the same outcome. In closing, we're asked to remember to express 'heartfelt repentance' and pray that in the midst of His wrath, God will also grant those who do His mercy.
Please be assured that balancing God’s warning is His plea for us to return to Him and rend our hearts in sincere, heartfelt repentance. I can almost hear the tears in Joel’s voice as he pleads for us to repent and return to God, because “Who knows? He may return and have pity and leave behind a blessing.” (Joel 2:13-14)
Regardless of whether or not the conjecture regarding America’s Eclipse is accurate, we know our nation and our world is in turmoil. Without doubt this is the time for God’s people to get right with God. To repent of our own sin. To share the Gospel with our neighbors. And to pray that in the midst of His coming wrath, God would remember mercy (Habakkuk 3:2).
