From the moment Donald J. Trump announced his candidacy for President of the United States, liberals, Democrats and the mainstream media not only underestimated him and his message, but they showed utter disdain for him while predicting he had no chance to win. As 16 other Republican primary challengers dropped out of the race, leaving Trump as the last man standing, the Republican and Democratic establishment, globalists, Hollywood celebrities, deep state members within the U.S. intelligence agencies, and the mainstream media, all came to the realization that their normal tactics hadn't worked.
Rather than changing tactics, they doubled down, with the MSM taking the leading role in the war against President Donald Trump.
That is not opinion, that is fact, as and Media Research Center (MRC) study found that in the 12 weeks following the Republican and Democratic conventions, biased broadcast network coverage of the GOP nominee was 91 percent negative. After President Trump won the 2016 presidential election, those numbers continued unabated, as the "Media Madness" continued into the first 100 days of his presidency, and throughout his first year as President.
■ The Trump presidency was the biggest story of the year, accounting for one out of every three minutes of evening news airtime — nearly 100 hours in total.
■ The tone of coverage has been incessantly hostile, especially for a new President in his honeymoon year: 90% negative, vs. just 10% positive (These percentages do not include neutral statements).
■ More than two-fifths of evening news coverage of the President (43%) focused on controversies, not policies, with the Russia investigation alone accounting for one-fifth of all Trump coverage (1,234 minutes).
■ Despite their massive coverage of Russia, the networks had almost no airtime for questions about how the investigation began, or whether special counsel Robert Mueller’s current investigation is biased.
VETERAN JOURNLIST HOWARD KURTZ: MSM SUFFERS FROM 'TRUMP TRAUMA'
Howard Kurtz, a man who spent 29 years working for Washington Post, then the Daily Beast and CNN, and now is the host of Fox News Channel's Media Buzz, has been covering press related issues since 1990, recently published a book called "Media Madness: Donald Trump, the Press, and the War over the Truth," where he asserts "According to the media, Donald Trump could never become president. Now many are on a mission to prove he shouldn’t be president.." He goes on to highlight how "supposedly objective journalists, alarmed by Trump’s success, have moved into the opposing camp."
In a guest column for Hollywood Reporter, he titles "How "Trump Trauma" Is Crippling the News Media," he provides an exclusive excerpt, but it is the headline that says it all, where a reputable journalists that has worked for both far left-leaning and right-leaning media organizations, tells America what Trump supporters and the president himself has maintained all along.... the media has become nothing more than the propaganda arm of the Democratic party, and they are not objective in any way, shape or form.
Kurtz, dubbed by Politico as "one of the nation’s foremost media chroniclers," has previously called out MSM personalities for their anti-Trump bias, saying that many networks had "crossed the line" in their coverage of President Trump.
“The past two years have radicalized me,” Kurtz writes. “I am increasingly troubled by how many of my colleagues have decided to abandon any semblance of fairness out of a conviction that they must save the country from Trump.”
Kurtz characterizes the news media as underestimating candidate Trump, and asserts several times that he recognized the insurgent Republican’s electoral potential when other pundits dismissed him. “The truth is that I wasn’t pro-Trump at all, I was pro-reality,” he writes.
“It turns out they were the ones who failed to recognize what was unfolding before their eyes,” Kurtz writes of the news media. “It was the most catastrophic media failure in a generation.”
While the majority of the Top Media Meltdowns from election night is entertaining for Trump supporters to see and remember, it was truly the beginning of the yeal-long "Media Madness" resulting from the "Trump Trauma' that Kurtz details in his book and interviews about the topic... and frankly it should have warned all Americans as to what would happen in the subsequent year.
SOME MEDIA PERSONALITIES HAVE BECOME MENTALLY UNBALANCED
The American people see it, but a look at a recent statement by Joy Reid, who is a host and a national correspondent for MSNBC, proves without a doubt that their "perception" of their own culpability and biases, is completely opposite as to what Americans perceive.
Reid was referring to the media coverage about the three-day government shutdown, where the reactions from pundits from the left and the right, from the most liberal to the most conservative, said Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer "caved" when they voted to end the shutdown, which caused her to publicly assert "There is nothing so predictable as media spin in favor of Republicans."
I. KID. YOU. NOT.
Reid has literally become so unbalanced she actually believes the MSM spins news in favor of Republicans. Even more disturbing than a national correspondent for a mainstream media organization being unable to acknowledge the overwhelming liberal media bias among the MSM, is that nearly ten thousand people "liked" her claim.
Her reaction, as well as other tweets where she attempted to claim the whole government shutdown fiasco was somehow a win for Senate Democrats, which was largely contradicted by even the most liberal names and outlets in the U.S., indicates more than just a bias, but an actual disconnect with reality.
While some could say, "well you are conservative, so of course you say Democrats caved," a look at how many other MSM outlets, from multiple CNN segments, to CBS News, other MSNBC analysts, ABC News, (none of which are conservative bastions) agreed and consistently hammered the point home, should be an indicator to Reid that her "analysis" of the situation is severely skewed to the point of being mentally unbalanced.
BOTTOM LINE -
While Kurtz makes a great point when he says that the media, who predicted President Trump could not win the election are now in the "opposing camp," I disagree that it is because of his successes, but rather his success in winning an election after they threw everything including the kitchen sink at him. They selectively edited his statements starting with announcement, they lied about his positions, they endorsed Hillary Clinton en masse, they did everything in their power to control and influence the outcome of the election.... and they failed.
After the election, they cried on national television, then they tried to influence him by browbeating him by converging on a nagetive theme on any given issue, which in the past has worked for them, but President Trump yelled "Fake News" at them, then proceeded to do exactly what he promised his supporters he would. They tried to shame, mock and humiliate his supporters, and they followed Trump's example and ignored them. The reason the MSM declared war was because they lost influence and control of the masses... period. Stop.
Many ANP readers have seen the following short clip, but for those that haven't, it is important to understand, the media thinks it is "their job" to "control exactly what people think."
That ladies and gentlemen is what caused the "Media Madness," the fact that the media learned in November 2016, that they no longer "controlled what the people think."
