The social media message started by saying "Newsrooms Beware," further stating "Someone claiming to be a college student is trying to interview NYT journalists. We're concerned that it’s a ruse." Attached to that tweet was a memo explaining that newsroom personnel had received emails requesting interviews from someone who claimed to be a college student, then the memo to colleagues warned "this could be a ruse by someone trying to trick unwary Times journalists into unguarded or damaging statements. (No doubt you recall the hidden-camera ploy used recently on a CNN producer.)
So far two videos have been released as part of the American Pravda: NYT segment of the series, where Nick Dudich, Audience Strategy Editor for NYT Video, admits to the NYT manipulating the news so that anti-Trump coverage slants to the front page, and admitting to a lack of objectivity, saying "That's why I'm here [at the NYT]."
In response to the first video release by Project Veritas, Times spokesperson Danielle Rhoades Ha, issued the following statement, "Based on what we’ve seen in the Project Veritas video, it appears that a recent hire in a junior position violated our ethical standards and misrepresented his role. In his role at The Times, he was responsible for posting already published video on other platforms and was never involved in the creation or editing of Times videos. We are reviewing the situation now."
While Dudich obviously embellished in certain areas and Project Veritas usually releases the most damning of the reports first, in this case, the blockbuster, in my opinion, was the second release, where Brand and Diversity Curation lead for YouTube , Earnest Pettie, confirms much of what Dudich asserted about how, on behalf of the NYT, YouTube "curates," and manipulates the search results to favor the Times. What Petite admits about forcing certain videos to trend, rather than the algorithms being the determining factor as to what is and is not "popular" among users, and pushing what Petite refers to as "legitimate news" to the top, directly contradicts YouTube's bogus "mission statement" which claims that users, not gatekeepers, decide what's popular.
"Realistically, that's what the... that's what the news carousel kind of does. So like, it's above the search results so, at the very least, we can say this shelf of videos from news partners is legitimate news because we know that these are legitimate news organizations. And if at that point, somebody decides they're going to scroll past that and go find Alex Jones, well, they were looking for him to begin with anyway."
Another point Dudich makes clear is how he deliberately places stories that affect Facebook negatively, in spots where they will not receive much attention, to protect the social media giant.
"As an editor, I'm a gatekeeper so I can choose what goes out and what doesn't go out. And let's say we wrote something about Facebook negatively... We actually just did a video about Facebook negatively, and I chose to put it in a spot that I knew wouldn't do well."
For those that think the CNN videos showing a panelists and another person, a producer, along with these new ones showing a video strategy editor working in cahoots with a YouTube curator to manipulate the news, only shows certain corrupt individuals, rather than a "conspiracy" of MSM on the whole to produce fake news, deliberately manipulate where and what news is seen, then consider the fact that the initial video release from Project Veritas was released on October 10, 2017 yet not one of the "legacy" mainstream media outlets, except the NYT offering only their statement on the video, has reported this news.
Dudich made his bias clear with statements explaining how he would target President Trump, like "I'd target his businesses, his dumb f*ck of a son, Donald Jr., and Eric... yet no MSM source thought this type of bias, from within the New York Times was newsworthy?
The people caught by the undercover Veritas videos are not the exception, they are the rule.
THE FALLOUT BEGINS
Immediately after the release of part one of the American Pravda: NYT, the LinkedIn profile for Nicholas Dudich, who was at the URL: https://www.linkedin.com/in/nicholas-dudich-89606818 now automatically redirects to an "profile unavailable" page, showing Dudich started immediately hiding from the public.
O'Keefe highlighted on Twitter that "John Michael Cassetta, who works in Video at the @nytimes — took down his accounts after Dudich claimed “John Michael has no idea” about it," along with a screen showing Twitter now offers a "This account doesn't exist" page, (shown in the screen shot above) and using a search engine, Google hasn't caught up with the deletion yet because it does offer a link to Cassetta's former Twitter page, which now offers a message saying "Sorry, that page doesn’t exist!"
It appears that Cassetta has also deleted his Instagram account, because when clicked from a search engine, now also comes back to a "Sorry, this page isn't available," page, yet what can still be seen from the search is "See Instagram photos and videos from John Michael Cassetta (@johnmichaelcassetta) ... Strategy @ NYT, new yorker forever twitter.com/johnmcassetta."
This brings up a couple of very interesting questions. Number one, since Dudich made it clear that "John Michael," meaning Cassetta who work in video for the NYT as well, was not aware of Dudich's antics, why would Mr. Cassetta feel the need to erase any social media presence that allows open commenting, yet as of now, his LinkedIn page is still available, showing he is "Editor, Video Strategy & Operations at The New York Times?"
The second question would be why O'Keefe was looking for Cassetta's Twitter account in the first place?
Is it possible that a subsequent undercover video will have quotes from Mr. Cassetta himself? I guess we will have to wait and see, but since O'keefe has asserted "Part 2 isn't the end…plenty more to come," hopefully we won't have to wait long.
This is the second mainstream media organization that Project Veritas has exposed. Bias, deliberately pushing fake news or "bullsh*t" as the CNN producer so crudely put it, now using connections within social media to manipulate the news, deliberately making sure anti-Trump news hits their front page, and stating outright they downplay videos that "negatively" affect Facebook.
Anybody that cannot see how utterly corrupt the MSM and tech giants have become have become is in serious need of a major awakening.
