Eagle Pass Customs and Border Patrol Station Gets Upgrade Approval, Another 16 Illegal Alien Criminals Removed From The US, Two Autopen Administration Laws Rescinded, And More

On June 5, 2025, the City of Eagle Pass requested the President award them a permit to expand the Camino Real International Bridge from its current 6 lanes to 12 lanes. US Trade Numbersshows that between April 2013 and April 2025 imports from Mexico (containing 99.52% Mexican products) increased from $1.03B to $2.37B and exports from the US to Mexico increased from $654.25M to $1.05B. However, notice there is still a trade deficit of more than double $2.37B vs $1.05B. The main problem with the Border Control Check Point is the fact that the infrastructure of the Border Control Point has not been upgraded to handle the increase in crossings, hence the request for expansion permission.

On June 20, 2025, President Trump signed MemorandumPresidential Permit Authorizing the City of Eagle Pass, Texas, to Expand and Continue to Maintain and Operate a Vehicular and Pedestrian Border Crossing at the Camino Real International Bridge Land Port of Entryauthorizing the expansion of the bridge between Mexico and Eagle Pass, Texas. However, the authorization limits them to the plans the city submitted to the Secretary of State on November 26, 2024 and the extended application on March 9, 2025. It limits "facilities" to the 6-lane bridge over the Rio Grande River to include a second 6-lane bridge adjacent to the original bridge as well as land, buildings, and equipment within a limited range of the facility.

The memorandum does come with restrictions:

  1. They have to follow the plans as submitted as well as any Presidential amendments.
  2. Construction is still subject to Federal, State, & Local regulations & laws and they are not to block access to officials performing their authorized duties.
  3. They must continue to comply with Federal laws & regulations for construction, maintenance, and operations of the facility.
  4. They are to mitigate adverse impacts of the construction, they cannot sue the Federal government for any liability arising from the construction, and the Memorandum does not replace appropriate Federal, State, or local permits, approvals, or authorizations.
  5. They must immediately notify the President (or his designee) before transferring any part of the construction to another agency.
  6. They are responsible for rights-of-way, easements, permits, or other authorization necessary to complete the construction and maintain them with best management practices.
  7. Recognize there is no obligation of any agency to give the construction 'preferential treatment.'
  8. Paperwork needs to be completed before actual construction begins but those agencies have 1 year to issue or deny permits.
  9. They need permission of the US Section of the International Boundary and Water Commission.
  10. No construction is to start until the Department of State has a diplomatic agreement with the Mexican Government.
  11. They will respond to all requests for information by the President (or his designee) regarding the facility.
  12. They are responsible for providing applicable reports/statements required by Federal law.
  13. No substantial changes to submitted plan without Presidential approval subject to availability of funds.
  14. The permit expires 5 years from date of issuance if construction has not started within the 5 years.
  15. Finally, just because the President says they can proceed with the expansion, it does not mean they are exempt from the same laws, rules, & regulations as any other construction permits.

The white house has released two articles on the OBBB Act on June 20, 2025:

Pass the One Big Beautiful Bill to Safeguard Americas Sovereigntylauds the 'dramatic reversal' in the number of illegal aliens crossing our southern border. However, continued funding is necessary to not only continue the reversal but to increase the rate of deportation for criminal illegal aliens. The OBBB contains the largest investment in securing our sovereign borders including funding for pay raises over the next 4 years, funding for 10,000 new ICE officers, 5,000 new Customs and 3,000 new BP officers. It also includes funding to finish the entire border wall construction.

The second article,Service Workers Rally Behind President Trumps NO TAX ON TIPSreminds us that service workers have their tips taxed at an "average" rate regardless of how much they actually receive in tips. Of course, service, hospitality, and retail employees and businesses back the NO TAX ON TIPS portion of the OBBB. Employers would no longer need to monitor employee tips and employees would no longer need to tell their employers how much someone tipped them for a job well done.

When I realized that server tips were "pooled" and then divided not only among all the servers but also with cooks, bussers, and MANAGEMENT, I was not a happy camper. Then, I discovered GoldBacks (GB). By tipping the server a GB, they did not have to report it OR share it. Even if they pass the NO TAX ON TIPS as part of the OBBB, I will still continue to tip my actual server in GBs. So far, gold does not lose its value.
