A Hellish Winter Is Coming With 11 Out of 18 Regions To Be Colder-Than-Normal, And States Have Already Started Rationing Heating Oil Due To Depleted Supply

By Susan Duclos - All News PipeLine

In July 2022 we saw reports of how the European governments had agreed to ration natural gas after Russia cut the amounts of gas they provided to European countries.

EU governments agreed Tuesday to ration natural gas in the coming winter in a bid to insulate themselves from further supply cuts by Russia with the bloc’s energy ministers approving a draft European law aimed at lowering demand for gas by 15% through the fall and into next spring.

Whether the gas savings can be achieved remains to be seen and there has been dissent among EU members about the rationing of gas use.

“Cutting consumption can only do so much. Fundamentally, there is huge demand for natural gas and especially liquid natural gas (LNG) in Europe. Rationing, which will especially impact energy intensive industries like car makers, chemical companies and cryptocurrency mining, can’t be ruled out,” Simon Tucker, global head of energy, utilities and resources at Infosys Consulting, said in emailed comments Tuesday.

We saw a ton of "It'll can't happen here," commentary, as if America was somehow above the fray, and no way could American fall so low as to have to start rationing.

For the record we heard the same types of claims when COVID hit the scene about food supply, and paper goods. They said we would never go to the store and find empty shelves, not here, not in America.

Until they did go to the store and find no toilet paper, no hand sanitizer, and no cleaning supplies. Then the rationing began with store signs limiting the amount of certain products, which included meat in the later months.

The point is that despite all the proclamations of "it can't happen here," it has, it is and it will continue to be happening here, throughout the winter, at the very least.

RATIONING HAS BEGUN IN AMERICA...........

It is now October 2022, and lo and behold, New York and New England have started..... yes, rationing heating oil. Right here in America!

Heating oil suppliers in the Northeast and New England have begun rationing the key fuel ahead of winter, after stockpiles dropped to a third of their normal levels.

Concerns are rising that supply shortages and soaring prices will leave families in the cold this winter, particularly in New England, which is more reliant on heating oil than other parts of the country.

Chris Herb, president of the Connecticut Energy Marketers Association, told Bloomberg recently that heating oil wholesalers are beginning to limit allocations for retail suppliers.

The rationing measures, intended to prevent panic buying and hoarding, are in turn being imposed on consumers, limiting the amount of heating oil they can purchase, said Herb.

We fully expect the same thing to happen in other states that depend on heating oil and natural gas

Then we have the families that do not use gas to heat their homes, but rather electric. That also has become an issue for American families already suffering from food price hikes and the rising gas costs, because electricity bills have also seen a sharp increase, which is projected to be brutally devastating come the winter months.

A recent report from Nerd Wallet states that Americans are spending $11,500 more in a single year, but grasping what big numbers like that mean in practice can be difficult. Per month, you’re looking at close to $1,000 more month. For many people, this is an entire extra rent or montage payment. Across all the spending categories they examined, groceries, shelter, and gas stand to rise the most. Throughout all of 2022, inflation has cost Americans to spend more than $1,200 on groceries, $1,400 on housing, and $2,500 on gasoline.

New York’s state grid operator warned of a sharp rise in wholesale electric costs expected this winter with spiking global demand for fossil fuels, lagging supply, and instability driving up oil and gas prices. Geopolitical factors are ultimately reflected in wholesale electricity prices and supply charges to consumer bills, per the New York Independent System Operator.

While Joe Biden is busy gaslighting America about how the main driver of spiking food costs isn't beef and eggs, etc... but rather packaged foods and people can overcome by "not buying Kellogg’s Raisin Bran, you’re going to see them buying other Raisin Bran, which is going to be a dollar cheaper," families are skipping meals and lowering portion sizes just to be able to survive.

And yes, that was part of an actual quote from the man that occupies the White House.

Americans are way past the point of just changing brands to save money, but Biden remains clueless as to what his policies and lack of urgency on issues that affect the very survival of Americans, in favor of pushing an abortion, LGBT, and gun control agenda.

None of which will help parents put food on the table for their children.

Frankly, the tens of billions of dollars Biden, Dems and RINO warmongers are sending to Ukraine, could feed an awful lot of Americans.

A HELLISH WINTER IS COMING

Now the winter from hell is about to hit these same inflation-fatigued Americans.

According to the Farmer's Almanac, "The eastern half of the U.S. should brace for potentially record-breaking cold to define the season. This frigid forecast extends to the Deep South and Texas, which could see the mercury diving as much as 8°F below normal!"

The Farmer's Almanac also provides regional weather predictions divided into 18 regions.

11 of the 18 regions are listed as colder or below normal. Those are Region 2: Atlantic Corridor, Region 3: Appalachians, Region 4: Southeast, Region 5: Florida, Region 6: Lower Lakes, Region 7: Ohio Valley, Region 8: Deep South, Region 9: Upper Midwest, Region 10: Heartland, Region 11: Texas-Oklahoma, and Region 12: High Plains

You can find the full regional weather predictions here at this link

KEEPING WARM WITHOUT GOING BROKE

Recently a reader shared with everyone that he made his first clay pot heater, and provided a number of pictures showing how it was done. One image is show above, and others showing it step by step, can be found at his comment link.

This is the kind of cost saving tips that can keep you warm using as little electricity or gas as possible.

The costs for the clay pots, candles and extra oil/wax and wicks is extremely inexpensive especially in comparison to electricity and gas costs.

There are also a number of other types of DIY (Do It Yourself) heaters.

The basics are things most people already have, especially preppers and survivalists, but given the colder than normal weather predictions for 11 U.S. regions, it may be prudent to have extras.

Thick Warm Socks - A must for me year round.

Warm Blankets - Cheap and you can have a couple in each room.

Fingerless Gloves - Indoor, these do keep yours hands feeling warmer.

Don't forget long johns..............

Another things some forget is electric blankets. Yes, electricity is projected to become even more expensive, and states and/or companies start rationing gas for those that use heating oil or natural gas, but the cost of using an electric blanket is minimal compared to using electric or gas to heat your entire home.

Creating A Warm Room:

Another way to keep warm using as little electricity/gas as possible is to create a nice cozy warm room. Pick a room that is close to your bathroom to you don't get too cold moving from one to the other, and set it up to get warm, and stay warm all day and evening.

While researching for this article I did find some tips to help keep your room warm that I have seen mentioned often enough.

• If you have radiators (or baseboard heating pipes) line the inside of the exterior wall with tinfoil (or other heat reflecting materials from your home improvement store). This will reflect some of the heat back into the home. The same can be done for ovens, wood stoves and other heat sources internally.

• Don't let the cold radiate up from your floor. An uninsulated floor can cause more than 10% heat loss in a home. This is especially important if your home is “built on a slab” (no basement). Insulate the floor with warm rugs and/or carpets. The bearskin or sheepskin rugs were historical solutions for floor insulation.

Another important point, which we have discussed here at ANP before, are space heaters. They work wonders, cost a fraction of what central heating, electric or gas, does, and if you have multiple floors to keep warm like we do, one on each floor is sufficient.

From a previous piece:

Using Stefan and myself as an example, we use gas for heat, yet the cost of heating three floors and the rooms on each floor is astronomical, and that was before the massive inflation, the war between Russia and Ukraine, and Biden killing America's energy independence.

Our office space is easy, we have a fireplace and it keeps the entire floor warm. The top two floors though must be kept warm, so we use space heaters, one per floor. The cost of electric using both of them is less than a quarter of the amount than if we use the central gas heat.

If we can cut heating costs by three-quarters, anyone can.

Another idea is a portable stove which can be used indoor or outdoor.

For those that lose electricity during a winter storm or such, propane and kerosene heaters are an option, but keep in mind the cost of the propane and kerosene may be more expensive than expected.

Solar generators are also a good investment because gas prices are expected to rise again by winter, so a gas generator may end up costing a small fortune to use for a prolonged amount of time. Remember to test them before winter. The last thing you want to do is lose electricity, open your brand new solar generator and remember it has no charge.

BOTTOM LINE

It is going be a colder than normal winter for the majority of America, and now that states/companies have started rationing heating oil, with more expected to follow, and electricity bills already rising, projected to spike over the winter, finding cheap ways to keep warm and keep your home warm, will help keep more money in your pocket for food and other necessities.

Stay warm folks.
