Political Correctness is a disease, totally out of control and one that has infected everything from our U.S. Military to our workplaces, to our educational institutions, to our media outlets, politics, in fact it is spread to almost every aspect of society, slowly eating away at the very fabric of our lives to the point where it is endangering the nation as a whole.
We are going to deal with the issue of the U.S. Military first because there was an off-topic and fascinating discussion going on another comment thread here at ANP this morning dealing with the news about Congress debating whether or not women should or should not have to register for Selective Service aka The Draft. If the measure requiring women to register for SS survives a full House vote and then makes it through the Senate it would reverse policy that has been in place since a 1981 Surpeme Court ruling that decreed women did not have to register for the draft because they could not hold combat positions.
Well now all combat positions are open to women stemming from Barack Obama's politically correct push in his first term in office, because it was politically incorrect to prevent women from competing for the same positions in the military that men could. In order to do so, physical standards had to be lowered... in other words, rather than the women wanting to join combat forces having to meet physical requirements that every man that made it through had to, those requirements had to be lowered to meet the womens capabilities, therefore making the U.S. Military weaker.
In 2013, this was admitted outright by Army Gen. Martin E. Dempsey when he stated "If we do decide that a particular standard is so high that a woman couldn’t make it, the burden is now on the service to come back and explain to the secretary, why is it that high? Does it really have to be that high?"
The Marine Corps just finished research to see if female officers could successfully complete its rigorous Infantry Officer Course.
A IOC diploma is a must to earn the designation of infantry officer. Of 29 women who tried, none graduated; only four made it through the first day’s combat endurance test.
Corps public affairs said it did not have the data on which tasks proved the toughest for women. But one particularly demanding upper-body strength test is climbing a 25-foot rope with a backpack full of gear. A candidate who cannot crawl to the top fails the test.
The article quotes Robert Maginnis, a retired Army officer and author of the book “Deadly Consequences: How Cowards Are Pushing Women Into Combat," as stating "The pressure is on the services from the White House’s politically correct crowd vis-a-vis Obama’s Pentagon appointees, who will force the services to accept degraded standards."
It was reported in September 2015 by Creators.com that a "9 month, $36 million study conducted by the Marine Corps shows that the overwhelming majority of women Marines underperform on tasks such as running while wearing 100 pounds of gear, carrying a wounded buddy to safety, or firing an M4 rifle to stop the enemy's grenade."
Marine Times provides further information on that study:
All-male ground combat teams outperformed their mixed-gender counterparts in nearly every capacity during a recent infantry integration test, Marine Corps officials revealed Thursday.
Data collected during a monthslong experiment showed Marine teams with female members performed at lower overall levels, completed tasks more slowly and fired weapons with less accuracy than their all-male counterparts. In addition, female Marines sustained significantly higher injury rates and demonstrated lower levels of physical performance capacity overall, officials said.
I do understand why readers are weighing in on whether or not women should be included in Selective Service, because that is the issue in the news this week, but the fact is, what truly needs to be addressed is the politically incorrect question of whether women should be in combat at all when their presence, with the lowering of physical standards, will undoubtedly endanger their lives and the lives of ever other military member in their unit?
No one in Congress wants to bring up that aspect because it would be politically incorrect.
It isn't just women in combat where political correctness is damaging our military capabilities, but we are reminded of the "Walk A Mile In Her Shoes," event, which was supposedly a volunteer event, but was actually made mandatory for Arizona Army cadets, who stated they would have to face negative consequences if they chose not to participate.
Forcing men into wearing women's high heels for a completely political correctness issue, did nothing but emasculate those cadets. Does anyone really believe that forcing military men into bright red high heels promoted more awareness over sexual abuses????
Politically correct newspapers are now referring to illgeal aliens/immigrants as "undocumented migrants," because it is politically incorrect to call them what they are when they are in the country ILLEGALLY....hence illegal immigrants.
We see this disease in our educational institutions with the "safe spaces" being offered to spoiled little brats that cannot handle hearing any speech they don't agree with, with these new "social justice warriors" deciding they can scream over anyone speaking if they disagree with them, claiming that doing so is their free speech rights!

BOTTOM LINE
Political correctness is destroying America from within. Fear of being labeled for speaking the truth is the weapon these new social justice warriors are using against us and we are allowing as a nation, our "leaders" are encouraging it and participating in it.
