CNN's Scott Jennings Says Americans Are Sick of ‘Weak Leadership’ As Country Turns Page From Biden To Trump - 'Uncommon Nonsense That Comes Out Of The Democrat Party'
By Hailey Gomez - All News Pipeline
CNN’s Scott Jennings criticized President Joe Biden’s leadership on Sunday, stating Americans have been “sick” of the last four years.
Recent data from FiveThirtyEight shows Biden’s average approval rating has dipped back to his record low with just 37.4% support. On CNN’s “State of the Union,” host Dana Bash asked the panel how they believed President-elect Donald Trump’s second term would differ from Biden’s come Jan. 20.
Prior to Jennings, Former Hillary Clinton campaign senior adviser Karen Finney said that while she expects Trump to be “bolder” in his second term, she believes Americans will grow “sick” of his choice to place “unelected corporate billionaires” in positions of power.
“I’ll tell you what I think Americans are sick of — Joe Biden. Uncommon nonsense that comes out of the Democratic Party. They’re sick of feeling like this country has been running in place, stuck in quicksand for the last four years. Three quarters of Americans think we’re on the wrong track,” Jennings said.
“But there are hints of optimism in the American people,” Jennings added. “There was a CBS News survey that came out last weekend. More Americans thought that Donald Trump would increase peace and stability in the world than that he would not.”
In a CBS survey released on Dec. 22, 57% of Americans said they felt hopeful about 2025, a 10-point increase compared to the same time last year, when 47% of Americans expressed hope for 2024. Among the reasons for optimism, 60% of those surveyed cited Trump becoming president, 55% pointed to family and personal relationships, 51% mentioned the U.S. economy and 51% said personal finances and opportunities.

Jennings went on to say there appears to be “shoots of optimism,” adding that Trump has the opportunity to “do something amazing.”
“So you can start to feel the green shoots of optimism,” Jennings continued. “So when I look ahead to what he’s going to do at the inaugural and what he could do in the first 100 days of his administration, I hope he senses that from the American people, hits the ground running, and strikes the optimistic notes.”
“Because I think people are tired of having weak leadership that has taken us off in the wrong direction. He has a real opportunity here to do something amazing, and I hope he does it,” Jennings said.
While Republicans have consistently criticized Biden’s leadership over the years, raising concerns about his mental fitness, Democrats mostly defended the president until his debate against Trump in June. Following Biden’s poor performance, in which he was seen freezing mid-sentence and struggling to finish his arguments, Democrats and political pundits began to question whether the president could succeed for another four years.
Biden eventually announced his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race in July, stating it was in the “interest of my party and the country” to step aside and endorse Kamala Harris.
