The best way to prepare for any type of unpleasant, or even dangerous, turn of events, is to watch the examples of those that suffered through the same or something similar before, and try not to make the same mistakes. Learning lessons by example is something many would call common sense, but as we have noted before, common sense isn't exactly "common" any more.
Just look at Democrats for Bernie Sanders to prove that point, as examples from all over the globe show the dangers and deadliness of socialism, yet here we are, looking at the rise of a self-described socialist within the Democrat party.
We are seeing a rise in Coronavirus-related crimes, from racist attacks against Asians to bloody attacks over disinfectants, along with actual violent fights over toilet paper as certain items become scarce in some areas.
A woman, 71, and a child have been stabbed in a Chinese supermarket as several shoppers battled to buy the last bottle of disinfectant on a shelf, according to reports.
With whole cities under lockdown to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the coronavirus which broke out of Wuhan, supplies of medical essentials are beginning to run low and violence has broken out.
A nine-year-old girl was also reportedly injured when fight broke out in the supermarket in the county of Baoying in the eastern province of Jiangsu.
Amid growing hysteria about the coronavirus outbreak, a 17-year-old girl is accused of stabbing the pair in the scuffle.
There are unconfirmed reports that the older woman has died of her injuries, which looking at the images and the amount of blood loss on the supermarket floor, is quite possible.
Imagine someone so crazed they are willing to kill over disinfectant. Yes, this was in China, but we are seeing reports of crimes, actual fist fights, attacks against Asians, and more, in multiple countries that have seen the spread of COVID-19 Coronavirus over the course of the last couple of months.
For the record, and to save someone the risk of being attacked over a bottle of cleaner, there are plenty of videos and resources showing how to make your own disinfectant, using ingredients that are not flying off the shelves as we are seeing in stores all around the country.
New York Post put out a very short video on March 6, showing how to make hand sanitizer, which has been flying of the shelves and becoming much harder to find online without either a long wait, or price gouging, and the ingredients are simple, easy to obtain and one less thing to worry about running out of.
2/3 cup of 99% rubbing alcohol or ethanol 1/3 cup aloe vera gel A few drops of essential oil Bowl and spoon Empty bottle Funnel
Directions: Combine the alcohol, aloe vera gel and essential oil droplets together in a bowl, and mix with a spoon. Then, use the funnel to pour the hand sanitizer into an empty bottle.
From what we understand the essential oils are optional when making your own hand sanitizer.
Readers should be able to get these items at the dollar store or there local grocery store for far less than having them delivered but for those that are limiting their store runs, Amazon has these products in stock, and delivered in a very short time frame.
There are also many resources to learn how to make household disinfectant using alcohol or bleach as well. Another item rushing off shelves seems to be disinfectant or antibacterial wipes, and there are how to videos showing different methods of making those as well.
FISTFIGHTOVER TOILET PAPER
Moving along to Australia, police are warning shoppers that "This isn't mad max," after women got into a fistfight , or as The Guardian puts it a "physical altercation," over toilet paper.
NSW police had to be called to a western Sydney supermarket on Saturday morning after a fight broke out among three women over toilet paper.
On Saturday afternoon NSW police asked the women involved to come forward, and warned shoppers to behave themselves.
“We just ask that people don’t panic like this when they go out shopping,” NSW police acting inspector Andrew New said. “There is no need for it. It isn’t the Thunderdome, it isn’t Mad Max, we don’t need to do that.
There are ways to improvise, use paper towels, get coffee filters in bulk, or buy a bidet, there are plenty of them still available. The point here is that there are options, people can improvise, there is no need for panic nor violence over these household items.
Fair warning, I have never used a bidet, so I am linking to a few and readers should do some research to make sure the product is what they are looking for.
While nothing in the short video indicates that the attack against the Asian man was Coronavirus related, the MTA (Metropolitan Transit Authority) did offer some advice on how to stop the spread of Coronavirus, using "racism" as something that doesn't work to stop the contagion.
“We are investigating it right now. Our Hate Crimes Task Force is reviewing the incident and it’s an ongoing investigation.”
The MTA (Metropolitan Transit Authority), which runs the city’s subway, retweeted the video, offering advice on how to stop the spread of coronavirus.
“What works in stopping the spread of Coronavirus: 1. Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds. 2. Cough and sneeze into your elbow. 3. Stay home if you’re sick. What doesn’t work: 1. Racism” the tweet said.
A quick FYI to readers that shop at Cotsco, other than, don't be where everyone else is!
Signs at Cotsco are saying they are out of toilet paper, although they are getting restocked, but they are also limiting the purchase of a number of other items.
While the media is vilifying those that stocking up as "selfish hoarders," being prepared for the COVID-19 Coronavirus, the flu, basic colds, are any type of disastrous event that could befall you, is simply smart and thinking ahead so that you are the one "stabbed" over a hand sanitizer or disinfectant, so you aren't the one being attacked for a package of toilet paper.
Try to limit your exposure by trying not to be where groups of other people are. Order online if you can, and open the package, and toss the packaging while outside, then wipe the product off before using or opening it.
The most important piece of advice we can offer is to not panic.
Stay calm while you are preparing because panic isn't going to do anything except cause you to make mistakes, waste money on items you do not need instead of being careful and getting only what you do need or will use, and frankly, the more stressed you are, the more dangerous you become to yourself and others.
Be safe everyone, it is getting crazy out there.
