Two major news stories, both of course anti-Trump, have now been debunked, as we see that the use of anonymous sources, and claims by multiple media outlets that they independently verified the information, blow up in the MSM's collective faces.
Throughout the Trump presidency we saw example after example of fake news reports, citing anonymous sources go viral, then inevitably when the stories were debunked, sometimes weeks later, a small correction was added to a story no one was clicking on again anyway, leaving readers/viewers with the initial fake news to spread.
Note: Those were just a few examples of CNN stories, but in many cases the entire liberal media complex jumped on the bandwagons, then were forced to issue corrections when their anonymous sources lied.
Of course their corrections saw far less virality than the original lies did, so many liberals out there are still pushing narratives that were retracted by the MSM.
FAKE NEWS LIVES ON IN THE MSM
Apparently the media, that is tanking BIGLY since Trump left office, is still unable to give up their penchant for reporting fake news, especially in regards to anything Orange Man Bad.
We'll see the cable news data lower in the article.
The first example of massive journalistic malpractice started with Washington Post, who also had a serious problem with pushing fake news during the Trump presidency, where they claimed to directly quote a source regarding a telephone call between Trump and Georgia officials.
In their initial story they claimed that President Trump told GA elections officials to "find the fraud."
Two months later, Washington Post adds a correction negating the entire claim. They also changed their story text as well. (Archive.is link here)
Correction: Two months after publication of this story, the Georgia secretary of state released an audio recording of President Donald Trump’s December phone call with the state’s top elections investigator. The recording revealed that The Post misquoted Trump’s comments on the call, based on information provided by a source. Trump did not tell the investigator to “find the fraud” or say she would be “a national hero” if she did so. Instead, Trump urged the investigator to scrutinize ballots in Fulton County, Ga., asserting she would find “dishonesty” there. He also told her that she had “the most important job in the country right now.” A story about the recording can be found here. The headline and text of this story have been corrected to remove quotes misattributed to Trump.
A number of things followed that fake, viral story.
One: Democrats used that story and their "quote" which was fake, as part of their impeachment papers.
President Trump’s campaign to reverse the election results—and to keep himself in the White House—lasted through the days immediately preceding the assault on the Capitol. On December 23, for instance, President Trump reportedly called one of Georgia’s lead election investigators, urging him to “find the fraud” and claiming that the official would be a “national hero” if he did so.
Two: Perhaps even more egregious is how many other outlets ran with the fake story, with some claiming they had verified it with their own anonymous sources.

The entire quote was fake. The anonymous sources either didn't exist and the media made the entire thing up, or Wapo's sources lied through their teeth to them and they ran with the fake quotes without confirming, verifying or finding another source, while the other outlets used Wapo's quote and simply claimed they verified it independently.
A national media that makes a mistake here and there, is understandable, we all are human after all, but when one mistake becomes dozens, and most of them directly quoting anonymous sources, just for Americans to learn later, much later in many cases, that the entire narrative was bogus, then they are no longer working to "inform" their audience they are deliberately misinforming them.
And they just keep doing it, over and over again.
Another example that comes to mind is how President Trump, during his CPAC speech, stated that he offered and/or suggested that 10,000 troops would be needed to protect the capitol on January 6, 2021. His likely thought process would be to preemptively offer incentive to not cause trouble on Capitol hill by having a strong presence that could be seen.
The media make a big process out of telling their audiences that Trump was lying, the offer/demand never happened, they claimed they couldn't confirm it, therefore it must not be true.
Well, it appears that a leaked email validates Trump's claim while once again showing the media's unwillingness to actually do any investigation into the matter if they can in any way suggest that Trump lied.
Reports from the Washington Post and Vanity Fair (hardly pro-conservative news outlets) are showing that on January 5th President Trump, acting Secretary of Defense, Christopher Miller, and his chief of staff, Kash Patel told the Pentagon that they are going to need 10,000 troops in DC.
“We’re like, ‘We’re going to provide any National Guard support that the District requests,’” Miller responded. “And [Trump] goes, ‘You’re going to need 10,000 people.’ No, I’m not talking bullshit. He said that. And we’re like, ‘Maybe. But you know, someone’s going to have to ask for it.’” At that point Miller remembered the president telling him, “‘You do what you need to do. You do what you need to do.’ He said, ‘You’re going to need 10,000.’”
The Washington Post has claimed to have seen an internal memo from the Pentagon showing that military leaders rejected the advice from the White House because they were worried about optics.
President Trump was worried about what might occur on January 6th and wanted the city secure, however, the Army balked.
President Trump is out of office and the media is still lying about him because he was their golden goose, and they do not know how to dig themselves out of the "Trump all the time" hole they have dug, so they keep digging deeper.
LIBERAL CABLE MEDIA RATINGS TANK - CNN HARDEST HIT
Being shortsighted, they were so busy trying to defeat him in the 2020 election, they didn't realize the extent of the fall they were about to take without Trump to obsess over.
All cable news saw a downtick, but for some it was more of a freefall than others.
Comparing the averages from November 30-December 4, 2020, with the averages from March 1 - March 5, 2021, the numbers are astounding.
The top three that lost the most viewership were all CNN shows, Don Lemon dropped -32.5% in ratings, Anderson Cooper -32.2% and Chris *Fredo* Cuomo lost -28.5%.
Compare those numbers to Tucker Carlson that lost only -4.8%, and we see a major "Trump Slump" for liberal media.
The only liberal media personality that stayed in single digit losses was MSNBC's Rachel Maddow with -9.1%.
BOTTOM LINE
As the media has moved further and further into the Democrat party propaganda over the course of the past few decades, they have yet to admit, or even understand, the ratings freefall is a direct result of their lies and deceit.
