"We’ll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." - Often attributed to Former CIA Director William Casey.
There are days, or even weeks, that you look through the daily news and wonder to yourself.... am I stuck in some type of nightmare, a parallel universe or a different dimension, because everywhere I turn I am reading something so completely unbelievable that I think it simply cannot be real.
But it is real..... which is proof that America truly has crossed over into the "Twilight Zone."
EXHIBIT A: BARACK OBAMA IS A CONSERVATIVE
Don't look at me like that, I didn't say it!!!
The Washington Post Twitter account promoted an article on November 22, 2019, prefacing the link to the article with "Perspective: Democratic presidential candidates still can’t figure out how to talk about the most popular figure in their party, @Swerdlick writes, and there's a simple reason. Barack Obama is a conservative."
First I checked and made sure it was the verified Wapo account....it was. Then I clicked over and read the article to see if Washington Post had decided to start publishing satirical pieces..... they haven't.
The writer, David Swerdlick is deadly serious in his argument that Barack Obama is conservative. The man who pushed to allow men in women's bathrooms, locker rooms and changing areas, including in the public school system. A man that shoved Obamacare down our throats, joined the Paris accord on climate change, backed net neutrality, danced on the graves of the recently deceased to push for gun control....along with supporting dozens more left wing, radically liberal positions throughout his presidency, and this writer is trying to convince Americans that Obama is a conservative.
Given the political climate, it’s no surprise to see the party’s base clamoring for something dramatic. But the contrast between Obama’s steady approach and the seeming radicalism of his Democratic heirs can’t just be chalked up to changing times. It’s because the former president, going back at least to his 2004 Senate race, hasn’t really occupied the left side of the ideological spectrum. He wasn’t a Republican, obviously: He never professed a desire to starve the federal government, and he opposed the Iraq War, which the GOP overwhelmingly supported. But to the dismay of many on the left, and to the continuing disbelief of many on the right, Obama never dramatically departed from the approach of presidents who came before him.
There’s a simple reason: Barack Obama is a conservative.
Obama’s perspectives don’t line up with every position now seen as right-of-center: He joined the Paris climate accords, he signed the Dodd-Frank financial regulations, and he’s pro-choice. He flip-flopped to supporting same-sex marriage, highlighting the significance of marriage.
But his constant search for consensus, for ways to bring Blue America and Red America together, sometimes led him to policies that used Republican means to achieve more liberal ends. The underlying concept for his signature legislation, the Affordable Care Act, with its individual mandate, was devised by the right-wing Heritage Foundation and first implemented at the state level by Mitt Romney, then the Republican governor of Massachusetts. Obama wanted to protect Americans from the effects of a prolonged recession, so he agreed, in one of his defining votes as a senator, to a bailout of banks — and as president, he prioritized recovery over punishing bankers for their role in the financial crisis. In his first inaugural address, he affirmed the power of the free market “to generate wealth and expand freedom.”
The rest of the lengthy piece is more of the same argument of why, in Swerdlick's mind, Obama was more conservative than liberal.
Had it just been one article at one news outlet, it could be chalked up to the weirdness of some journalists, but no, after Swerdlick published that bit of nonsense, CNN's Michael Smerconish brought Swerdlick on to his show on November 30, to push the same argument to the CNN audience.
EXHIBIT B: 'REPUBLICANS' ARE WEAPONIZING IMPEACHMENT
According to the Associated Press, despite the fact that Democrats in the House of Representatives, with no bipartisan support whatsoever, have initiated impeachment hearings, calling witness after witness, sending the inquiry from one committee to another, all without ever once naming an actual "crime" on the part of President Trump, it is Republicans that are "wielding impeachment mostly as an offensive weapon and Democrats are generally playing defense or changing the subject as 2020 congressional races rev up."
Yes, that is the AP's take. The fact that public support for impeachment is dwindling as the hearings show no evidence of wrongdoing, and that Republicans are buying impeachment related ads to hold congressional Democrats responsible for what their party leaders are doing, somehow, in the warped mind of the AP writer, is Republicans weaponizing impeachement against Democrats.
You really can't make this stuff up!
EXHIBIT C: DEMOCRAT HOUSE CANDIDATE SUPPORTS BEASTIALITY
Beastiality:A word describing sex between a human and an animal.
The Young Turks Cenk Uyger has decided to throw his hat into the ring for California's 25th district seat, which was recently vacated with the resignation of Katie Hill after her sexual exploits, including naked pictures and threesomes, were made public.
Uyger is running for Congress in the open California 25th district that became vacant after former Democratic Rep. Katie Hill resigned following allegations that she had an improper relationship with a legislative aide. Since Uyger announced his candidacy two weeks ago, the creator and host of the Young Turks show has been slammed with accusations of misogyny over past comments on his program.
Now the congressional candidate faces another sex-related scandal — only this time it does not involve humans.
"I would legalize bestiality"
A 2013 video emerged Tuesday afternoon of Uyger telling co-host Ana Kasparian that he would legalize bestiality if he had the power to do so.
You can see a clip of him making the argument in favor of beastiality at approximately the 1:49 minute mark in the video below.
'Nuff said?
EXHIBIT D: FBI 'LOVEBIRD' LISA PAGE PLAYS THE VICTIM CARD
Lisa Page was a former FBI counsel, who made headlines after text messages between her and her lover FBI Agent Peter Strzok, were made public, showing both had an extreme bias against Donald trump as a candidate, then President, while creating an "insurance policy" (The Russia collusion hoax), in the event that Trump won the 2016 presidential election.
Page has kept her head down since her and Strzok were exposed, but she recently spoke to the Daily Beast, casting herself as a "victim."
Page, 39, opened up about the criticism she has received from Trump in an interview published Sunday, revealing that “It’s like being punched in the gut,” whenever he tweets derogatory posts about her. Page, who bashed Trump in text messages to her special-agent boyfriend Peter Strzok, told The Daily Beast that she finally decided to speak out after the president acted out a fake orgasm to mock her texts with Strzok during an October rally in Minneapolis.
“Honestly, his demeaning fake orgasm was really the straw that broke the camel’s back,” she told the website.
“I had stayed quiet for years hoping it would fade away, but instead it got worse. It had been so hard not to defend myself, to let people who hate me control the narrative. I decided to take my power back.”
The president made the comment at an October rally in Minnesota.
You can see President Trump's comments from the rally below:
(Note - At the bottom of this article is the complete reading of the text messages between Strzok and Page, by Dean Cain and Kirsty Swanson from the "FBI Lovebirds" production.)
BOTTOM LINE
When the strange and unusual becomes the every day occurence, then it becomes apparent that there is no "normal" anymore.
From the media attempting to convince Americans that Barack Obama is "conservative" in order to downplay how radical liberals have become, to an FBI employee that plotted to sabotage a presidential campaign, then to overthrow a duly elected President, now claiming she is somehow the "victim" in this whole fiasco, just reading the news each day makes one think we have truly crossed over into the Twilight Zone.
Below is a production where the entire trove of texts between Strzok and Page are read aloud. Keep in mind that these are not teenagers texting back and forth when you listen to them, but actual FBI employees, on government issued devices.
